  • Main goal to have kids
  • Girls taught weaving, sewing, cooking, and other chores
  • Girls married young, husband chosen by father
  • Girls had children soon after marriage
  • Husbands sometimes killed female children
  • Men, but not women, could get a divorce
  • Women could not own land
  • Women had no political rights
  • Women could not go outside without a good reason
