Silent Singer
|
Operator Legal Name: Melody Singer Streetname: Songbird (Goes by this much more than her legal name) Gender: Female Birth Month/Day|Age: 07/01, 24 Appearance: Short, around 5'4". Hair short and feathery, dyed in black and green streaks. Green eyes, dark brows, tanned skin. Frequently looks irritated when she's not with people she trusts (defense mechanism). Also frequently dresses in dark clothing frequently adorned with skulls or roses or the like. Usually wears pants, but does sometimes go for shorter skirts, especially if she knows she's going to be dancing. Personality: Emotionally distant to most people, she's very much an introvert. When she's around her closest friends, she lightens up somewhat, and even smiles in public. If she's alone with people she trusts, she opens up a lot more, and tends to be much more cheerful and outgoing, even dancing if the mood strikes and there's appropriate music. Being mute, she converses purely in sign language, which her Navi gladly translates for her. (Though if her PET isn't with her, she's used to communicating with gestures and typing messages out and such.) Has a sense of humor that is both dark in morbid and other senses of the word. For instance, she sometimes guilts people over the fact that she's mute, finding it funny when they actually feel guilty over it. She looks up to Valjean Faberge (see history) as a father figure, and cares for Bunny, her Navi, as a daughter. Skills: Dancing, pickpocketing, lock picking, basic computer programming, basic/general automotive repair Defects: Mute. Not deaf, just mute. Physical mutation left her without vocal cords at birth. Background History: Appended at end of file Residence: TBA. Might be homeless soon. Navi Name: Bunny (the Mouse) Gender: Hi-mi-tsu desu :3 Elemental Affinity: Stealth. As Bunny is still unaware of Songbird's past, she has always believed that she was created as a Stealth Navi to avoid unnecessary combat, and to that end, she has gotten rather good at hiding, moving quietly, blending in, and generally just getting through nasty situations. Most of her resources in actual combat are re-routed to escape. Strengths: Extremely agile, extremely small, difficult to target. Has a chance of escaping lock-ons. Weaknesses: Extremely fragile: Once she starts taking damage, it won't take long to knock her out. AoE: Despite her speed, her size makes it harder for her to escape AoE's. Weapon: |-|4>< -- An unknown string of code in Bunny's core. She doesn't know what it does or what it's for, and she can barely utilize it in combat, so it's not really much of a weapon. Might as well be no weapon at all. Almost. Special Attacks: Glitch: Bunny can glitch herself out of a fight, and re-appear a short distance away. Can only be used when Bunny is in danger of being deleted, and is a subconscious reaction rather than an intentional ability. The glitch sometimes has the appearance of her being deleted, and sometimes looks like jacking out. Appearance: Very short, about half the height of the average Navi. Grey hair tied back in a ponytail down to her ass, large round mouse-ears on her head, long mouse tail. Frequently dressed in pink and black armor which fits tightly and is mostly streamlined for speed as opposed to protection. After her initial post, she infrequently glitches--parts of her body occasionally turn into static for brief moments. It doesn't seem to bother or affect her, so she mostly ignores it. Personality: Somewhat young in personality, bordering on childlike at times, though with a dirty sort of sense of humor. Friendly, perky, and outgoing, she's as outgoing as Songbird is introverted. Calls Songbird "Mom" and Mr Faberge (see history, below) "Gramps". Background History: Orphaned at an early age, she fell into a crowd of toughs in middle school. She dropped out of school at that point and ran away from foster care, going to live on the streets with the gang. At first, being the new kid in the gang was rough, but after she learned how to pick pockets, she proved that she was very good at it, and earned the respect of the gang. She worked hard to learn the finer points of cat burglary and how to defend herself with street fighting, including quite a few dirty tricks. Because of her disability, the gang looked out for her quite a bit. When she was 15, though, she tried to pick the pocket of a guy that looked rather wealthy...and he was. He was also rather well aware of what was in his pocket, as it turned out, including when her deft fingers (strengthened and supple from communicating via sign language?) slipped in. He caught her by the wrist...and coerced her to get a job, even offering his home. He gave her some money to help her for the immediate time and escorted her to the plant, getting her working on the loading dock at the plant he worked at...because apparently, he was an executive manager at the plant. His name was Valjean Faberge, and he was both crafty and kind-hearted. Kind-hearted enough to give a thief a place to live and a place to work. Confused and resentful, but not wanting to get turned in to the police, Songbird worked. The pay was about as good as thievery, but it was harder work. On the other hand, there was no concern about crossing the law, and he DID know enough to give her details to the police, after all... Days turned into weeks, and she grew accustomed to the work. She managed to contact her old gang and let them know what was going on, but actually turned down their offer to get her back. Six months in, Valjean did the unthinkable. On her sixteenth birthday, he adopted Songbird as a daughter, bought her a PET, and gave her a Navi--a rather cute young-looking mouse-girl Navi she decided to name Bunny as a rather silly joke. Songbird and Bunny became quite close, and just as Valjean had adopted her, Songbird treated Bunny like a daughter. However, since Songbird was now legally Valjean's daughter and he had essentially gotten her job for her six months prior, he was in danger of accusations of nepotism. To avoid that, she quietly quit her job, and since she was of age to work and wasn't attending school, she went to find other work. Finding a job as a middle school drop-out was difficult, but she was hired to do simple jobs at an automotive repair shop. Bunny was used to diagnose problems by interfacing with vehicles' on-board computers, and Songbird did those jobs she was able to do--tires, rims, brakes, rotors, belts, fluids, and so forth. Being so young, she wasn't allowed to play with the big machinery (such as the crane that was used to install engine blocks or the welding torch or about half of the electric power tools), but she did good work and kept that job for two years, until the owner closed up shop to move on to greener pastures, so to speak. At that point, Songbird moved back out of Valjean's house, getting a small apartment. She did have quite a bit of trouble finding a job from that point, and for the past six years, Songbird and Bunny have drifted from odd job to odd job, never able to keep any one job for terribly long. Most people didn't want to hire a dropout, so she frequently was only hired into seasonal positions or temp work, and that's how it's been for the past six years. Very recently, however, while she was working at a seasonal retail job, she had set her PET down to sign to a customer, and Bunny was translating for her. As soon as the conversation was over, someone tapped her shoulder. When she looked in that direction, someone grabbed her PET and ran. She chased the thief into the parking lot and managed to get a license plate number of the car that picked him up and drove away...but as it turned out, the plates were fake, and therefore untraceable. Getting in contact with her old gang, she begged them for help finding the thief, and they agreed. She connected with people online, as well, and after about a week, found what she'd been hoping to find: The vehicle, with the fake plates still intact, located at a laboratory. So after more years than she would have liked to admit, Songbird got her cat burglary equipment from her old gang buddies and set out to rescue Bunny alone. And that is where their story picks up... SONGBIRD COMBAT NOTE: While street fighting is part of her character history, such tactics generally require brute strength, and she has not kept up with her strength training in years. She may not be absolutely useless in a fight, but she's not going to be able to hold her own that well, unless it's against someone with absolutely no combat training at all. Still has a handful of tricks for getting out of a bad situation, though. Edited by Infiniti, Jul 12 2016, 07:19 AM.
