Operator Name: Gabriel Cruikshank Gender: Male Birth Month/Day|Age: 06/31 | 35 Defects: Major knee injury, forced to use a cane Appearance: Tall, standing at several inches over six feet tall. He's proportionately broad-shouldered, and has hair to his shoulders. He also has a full beard with a moustache, Jesus-style, though he keeps it very neatly kempt. He typically wears a dark-colored T-shirt with different kinds of graphics on the front and faded blue jeans with the knees torn out. When standing, he's forced to lean on a cane because one of his knees was badly torn up and never fully healed. Personality: Jovial to a point of mischievousness. This friendly Kinglish giant can speak in an Electopian accent or a full-on Albeannin brogue, and he will typically start with the thick brogue when he meets someone for the first time just to mess with them. He also lapses into that accent subconsciously when he's angry, and while he's typically slow to anger, it gets a lot faster when his friends are being messed with. Background History: Gabriel grew up in Albeann, damned proud of his heritage. As he grew up, he proved to have an amazing mind for the sciences, especially math and computer programming. While he never neglected his body, being rather athletic, he also made time to train his mind, as well. It was during this period that he got his PET and his Navi, Claidheam-mor.exe, or just Claid for short. And while the two of them loved getting into various kinds of mischief together, they never let things get too out of hand. But the longer Gabriel lived in Kingland, the angrier he became over the political situation. Eventually, his pride in his ancestry got the best of him, and he left the country, moving to Electopia, riding on his academic achievements to get him into the country. Of course, the academics required that he take an academic job--so he made a beeline for Den City. With his choice falling between the SciLabs or the University...he opted for getting a teaching job at the university, reasoning that it would be more fun to make education more entertaining to these kids. In an effort to both be more fuel efficient and get around more easily, he sold his car and bought a motorcycle...and within the first month, he got into a minor accident which he walked away from mostly unscathed...except he didn't really WALK away from it so much as limp. The way he sat on the motorcycle forced his knee into the ground when he went down, shattering his kneecap. After the initial point of impact, he managed to roll well enough to avoid any other major injuries. After major surgery and during physical therapy, Gabriel sought to honor his warrior ancestors...and the warrior ancestry of Electopia. Searching around for a while, with Claid's help, he found a dojo that taught martial arts that were stylized after the arts of old--before they became modernized, watered-down competition arts. He was rather surprised to find that with his bad knee, he had only a few problems with the techniques he was learning, and after several months, he swore to his friends that his knee was getting better. And that's where he is to this day, working as a professor at DenTech University, training in a rather lethal martial art on the side, and is still quick to talk about his Albeann heritage. Residence: Small apartment that's close to some good restaurants at the edge of the university campus. Navi Name: Claidheam-mor.exe "Claid" Gender: Male Elemental Affinity: Sword Strengths: Physically strong, very athletic. Does slightly more damage with physical attacks than would normally be expected. Weaknesses: Energy-based elemental attacks (fire, water, etc; the "traditional" elements) do extra damage, due to his physical orientation. While he can use attacks of those elements (eg FireSword), he does less damage with these attacks due to their elemental nature. Most of his attacks can only be performed at close/melee range, which makes it harder for him to avoid many attacks that can't be parried. Likewise, roughly half of his Special Abilities are easily parried/avoided by those with agility, and the others can only be performed against humanoid opponents. Weapon: Bare Fucking Fists. While this guy is no Shaolin Master, nobody wants to get clobbered with these things. He typically fights alternating between two styles, preferring to throw fists and clobber at non-humanoid enemies, but thanks to Gabriel's training, he has learned a great deal about the human body and how to manipulate it, and he will switch to a more passive combat style against humanoid opponents. Special Attack: Elemental Fist: Certain element-based chips (specifically Fire, Electric, and Aqua) can be "burned" to fuel his fists with that element. Claid will inflict extra damage to a single target with his fists, based on the element of the sacrificed chip. Unlike the chip, there is no chance to attack multiple enemies and there is no range beyond his fists. Weapon: Dirk. A thick, Alban dagger with a sharp point, made for punching and slashing. Since it's only a one-handed weapon and (relatively) small, it can be palmed--out of sight, out of mind--to be pulled as a surprise for Claid's enemies. It also leaves him with one hand free, giving him a fair amount of freedom to maneuver both himself and his opponent. He has learned to treat the dagger like an extension of his hand, not a weapon to be focused on. Special Attack: Whittle: If Claid can get in close range with his Dirk drawn, this attack does minor damage to unarmored opponents or will chisel away some of their armor. While this can do damage, this is more intended to reduce armor. Special Attack: Air Slash: A sword-based chip can be burned for a single ranged attack. The type of chip doesn't matter, so long as it's a sword-based chip. Claid slashes through the air with his Dirk, creating a blade of..."solidified air", for lack of a better term. The blade will fly in a straight line in the direction Claid slashed. Weapon: Iarmailt: A large classical-style claymore, the blade of which faintly glows a sky blue color. The name means "Heavens". Special Attack: Dervish Spin: Claid starts swinging Iarmailt around and doesn't stop swinging. The swinging is rather blind, focusing on power rather than precision, and has a chance to strike anything within melee range. Because of how wild this attack is, it can be dodged with enough agility. Special Attack: Berserk: Claid allows himself to become overcome with anger for four turns. During this time, he cannot use chips, cannot use special attacks, cannot defend himself, and cannot counter. He also ignores non-fatal damage and negative effects for the duration, and is driven to just run at the first moving target he sees and obliterate it with his sword, attacking twice per turn. These attacks hit harder than normal, but also miss more than normal. If the target is deleted before his four turns are up, he moves on to the next moving target in his sight. This can target allies if they are in his line of sight. At the end of the status, the digital adrenaline crashes. He spends a full turn unable to do anything. Furthermore, any negative status effects resume their effects, and he feels any damage he took while he was under the influence. Yes, he actually did take the damage; he just didn't feel it, and now he does. Due to the adrenaline crash, any damage he took feels as if it were twice what it actually was for the next two turns (one turn after he's able to move again). HOWEVER...this can also knock him out from too much pain. This is only a desperation move, due to the dangers inherent to it. Special Attack: Heart of the Celts: Claid sacrifices a turn, standing Iarmailt up with his hands on the hilt. Blue tattoos appear over his skin, providing protection from negative effects for the next two turns (does not affect those already on him, but prevents new ones over the next two turns), and reduces damage for the next four turns. At the end of the four turns, the tattoos fade out completely. This cannot be performed again until it wears off, meaning he can't spam it every other turn to prevent status effects. Appearance: Tall and muscular, Claid-heammor wears a white tunic top, the neckline cut very low. He wears a poofy blue-and-green plaid round cap, and a matching blue-and-green kilt from his waist to his knees. A dirk is tucked into his belt, and a large claymore is strapped over his shoulder. His skin is tan, and under his cap, his hair is a dark brown, shortcropped, with large sideburns. Personality: Most of the time, this guy is calm, gentle, and friendly. It tends to throw people off that he has a strong sense of humor, especially when he's in the middle of one of his operator's pranks. Every bit as nationalistic as his operator, he was proud to leave Kingland all the same, just because of how infuriating the politics there were. In combat, he will stop at nothing to finish the fight in his favor--honor has no value to the dead, after all, and he can't do what he needs to do if he's deleted because he was fighting "honorably". Fights are made to win; not to show off one's honor. Not that honor doesn't have its place... It's just not the battlefield. He does hate being called "Claymore", hating that only slightly more than hearing people butcher his name's pronunciation, which is why he just goes by Claid. Background History: Not much to say here. Gabriel is Claid's first operator, and they've been together the whole time. They support and care about each other, tending to view each other as brothers more than anything else. Edited by The_Silent_One, Jul 14 2016, 06:57 PM.
