I have a few. A skull and a grim reaper on my left shoulder which I plan on expanding to a black and white half sleeve devoted to the subject of death. The way I see it I could go at any time, and I think that's the perfect symbolisation of death looking over my shoulder. I have The Triple Horn of Odin on my left wrist with the Nordic runes spelling 'Odin' just above it. It's nothing pagan related to me, I'm just way into Norse mythology and wanted to show that by inking myself with on of their symbols that hasn't been adopted by any neo nazi group. I have the Hylian Shield from The Legend Of Zelda on my right calf, which hurt like fuck. I was limping for three days after getting that done. That's going to be part of a lower leg sleeve dedicated to my favourite computer games. I have a plan to get a tattoo of a level from Super Mario World around my ankle that loops infinitely and two portals on either side of my lower leg with the companion cube going through them. I need to plan what else I want in the finished design though, as I don't want to turn up to the parlor and say 'can I have this on my shin' and find it doesn't fit in with what I've already got there size wise. Finally, back on my left forearm, I have a line from Blind Guardian's 'The Bard's Song'. It says 'Tomorrow Will Take It Away'. It's kind of my twist on the old proverb 'This too shall pass'. I got it done about three years ago when I was going through a rough patch to remind myself that nothing lasts forever. I catch a glimpse of it every now and then and it has genuinely helped me through a couple of times. It's also a reminder of what made that time three years ago so rough, and how I never want to go through that again. I'd never ink myself with a tribal design because it 'looks cool' nor would I get a tattoo because I think it would make people laugh. I've never entered into a tattoo lightly and sit on each idea for at least 2 years before getting it done. If I still want it after that time then chances are I'm never going to regret getting it done and I book it in. I've also kind of fallen into something that I want to keep going. I only have black and white tattoos on my left side and colour tattoos on my right. I plan on getting s full sleeve done on my right arm that will be in full colour, but I'm not sure what that will be. I've toyed with the idea of a scene depicting the four horsemen of the apocalypse, but I've ummed and Ahhed about that for too long, so I doubt that's going to happen. |
