Ranea tried to ignore the whole feeling of restlessness. It had been like that for two nights now. She closed her eyes one more time, but as she figured she wouldn't get much sleep. She opened them again, swung her legs out of the bed and walked over and called for some klah. When it got to her a few moments later, she grabbed the klah and some oil and walked out to Ky, followed closely by Rubin, who had also been acting strange the last few days; it seemed like she was excited about something, yet Ranea couldn't figure out what. >Good morning. I couldn't sleep.< [Neither could I.] >Let's get you bathed and oiled, Ky.< [Sure.] This answer confused Ranea a bit. Ky usually loved to swim. Ranea quickly got on Ky's back and jumped off, when they reached ground level, so Kyriniath could continue down into the water without stopping. While Ky was bathing, Ranea sipped at her klah and watched her closely. Rubin was making funny sounds and circling around her head: *pictures of the sky, the sun, the sky and the feeling of warm ground* Kyriniath...why are you acting so strange? she thought to herself. And why was Rubin, for that matter? But she obviously wouldn't need the oil today. Ky had never been so shiny as the last few days. She had to have eaten some good sheeps, so...SHINY? Glowing? Ranea dropped both oil and klah, when she realised what was going on. [You've been closing your eyes, little one.] |

R'yth blinked at his Bronze. Ganianth seemed to be excited about something today. Here is was, morning, a nice day, and R'tyh had an excited dragon on his hands. R'yth blinked at Ganianth with a questioning look. >Why are you so excited Ganianth?< R'yth inquiered of his dragon. [A Mating Flight.] Ganianth replied simply. They weren't to far from where Ranea and Kyriniath were, but a okay distance. Ganianth got up, as he was lying down and waited for the Mating Flight to start. R'yth blinked with surprise. "Really?" he said and looked into the sky. [Bleh Short and Crappy.] |

((:3 I might as well post here too. )) B'naf had been up since the early hours of the morning, accustomed as he was to Fort Weyr's time zone. His rust-coloured hair was even more mussed than usual, feathering against his cheeks and over his forehead and sticking out at nearly comical angles. He made a half-hearted attempt at smoothing it down once again, nursing the mug of klah in his hand, and gazed a little reproachfully at the sunlight slanting into the open mouth of the his new weyr's cavern. "Can't a man have a sevenday to settle into his home?" he muttered good-naturedly. Craibth rumbled deep in his chest from where he stood at the ledge, his muzzle bloodied. B'naf knew that he'd blooded his kill in the early hours before dawn, just as he had the evening before, and thought with admiration how easily his darling Bronze had tuned into the Queen. >So it's today for sure?< he asked his beast, grinning. [Soon,] came Craibth's noncommital answer, spreading his wings as he fixed his great whirling eyes on the shape of Kyriniath far below. B'naf nodded, setting down the emptied cup and indulging in a spine-cracking stretch before he finally rose, pulling on loose, comfortable clothing that was more suited to Fort's temperate mountain climate. >Take me down there, would you Crabby? Ought to be a little polite before this thing goes down.< B'naf did not bother to put Craibth's riding straps on, simply loping up to his side and vaulting to the Bronze's equably-lowered neck. [You and your ceremony,] scoffed Craibth, unperturbed by B'naf's affectionate nickname. Lauching from the deeply-scored weyr ledge, the young and eager Bronze swooped down to deposit B'naf several meters from Ranea. Crooning at the glowing gold dragon courteously, he kept a respectful distance from her, a low and patient humming already starting in his throat. "Good morning, Weyrwoman Ranea!" B'naf called, bowing deeply to the young woman before he approached, all smiles. It was natural that he should know his new Werywoman's name. "Kyriniath is looking quite bright today, I couldn't help but notice..." he grinned, nodding in the dragon's direction. "Think you're ready?" |

Ranea glanced at B'naf. "Good morning, bronze rider B'naf." She made an honor of remembering nearly everybody's names. She remembered all riders' by now, she only experienced problems with the candidates. The people from the lower caverns were yet unknown to her. "You couldn't help noticing or the bunch of lust over there couldn't help noticing? The sun has hardly rised yet." There was an undertone of anger and annoyment in her voice. First of all she was protective of Ky; this was her first Flight. Secondly, she hated being the last one to know everything. Splashing around in the water, the glowing queen decided to royally ignore the bronzes. Ganianth on the sky and Craibth on the ground. Both so sure to Catch her. And soon, more bronzes would be gathering around her. Of course, there weren't many yet, which was why she could hope to outfly them. She wasn't going to give in. Not to any dragon, that was. Maybe. She looked at Ganianth. Young, agile. Would he last long enough under the white clouds to Catch her? She then glanced at Craibth. Almost just as young, maybe a bit more experienced. But both so young. Younger than her. [They won't ever Catch me. They're too young.] >You don't sound too flattering.< [It's the truth.] >It better not be. I know one will Catch you. One always Catches the queen.< [But I'm not any queen, you see.] |

R'yth was pretty near enough now and looked at Kyriniath and smiled. He went over and bowed to Ranea as well. "Good Morning Werywomen Ranea, how are you today?" he asked politly. >You were right Ganianth, she is ready for her first flight.< [I know R'yth.] Ganianth went to the ground to wait until she had risen. He wasn't going to lose her, he would make sure of it. He needed to think this through though, he could, once he caught up to her, make sure that he caught her in some way that she couldn't exscape. R'yth looked over at his competetion and smiled. Competition, hehe. Did he make EVERYTHING a competition? Yup. He did. That was the way he was. His compeditor wasn't much in his opinion, but his dragon was. Oh well, best dragon win right? |

Taviath also had the same excited air about him that most of the other bronzes had about them. M'helan looked at his bronze's facet eyes, that were swirling vigorously. >Want to go for a swim?< M'helan asked his bronze as he finished readying himself for the day. [Of course.] He bronze said as M'helan patted his giantic forarm. Taviath walked out onto his weyrledge, followed closely by M'helan. Taviath twitched his tail as M'helan skillfully mounted his bronze beast. M'helan threw his arm in the air and said, >Go.< and Taviath lept off of his ledge and began to circle down towards the lake, where all of the riders were beginning to gather so it seemed. When Taviath had landed, M'helan slid down and greeted the other riders. Taviath found himself in the water in no time, the cool rush of water covering his form. M'helan bowed to the Weyrwoman, "Hello, dear Weyrwoman." He said, his sickly sweet baritone voice oozed with a slight tinge of charm. He then stood straight and said, "And greetings to you all as well." Yet, this time his greeting was not a charming or sweet, it was just plain normal for the average male voice. |

B'naf was pleased that Ranea remembered his name, though he knew she really ought to regardless. She was a Weyrwoman, after all, even if she was young. Queens did not pick those faint of heart. Laughing gently, he held up his hands defensively and glanced sideways at Craibth in amusement. "Ah, you caught me. Craibth's been going on about it since midnight, though by now she's nearly giving off her own light," he admitted, smiling in spite of the undercurrent in Ranea's voice. "I don't mean to intrude, I hope you know. I was told before I transferred that your Kyriniath hasn't flown yet. It must be very disconcerting. Always is, the first time," B'naf murmured sympathetically. Hearing R'yth's footfalls at his approach, B'naf glanced over his shoulder to grin a greeting, and nodded at M'helan as well. "And you, and you," B'naf returned affably. R'yth, if a younger man, certainly looked determined, while M'helan was obviously older with the more brutish airs of the proud Bronzer, bred true to the Weyr. B'naf tried not to smile, ready for the challenge, for Taviath and M'helan were the most experienced pair. Craibth, on the other hand, was enduring Kyriniath's jabs in his direction with a perfectly straight face, eyes whirling only with excitement at the impending chase. As Taviath dropped down to join Kyriniath in the water, he stretched his wings, realizing that all three of Tkana's Bronzes were lined up to catch his lovely Queen. What he lacked in age he made up for in spirit, and he did not rise to Kyriniath's baiting. |

R'yth smiled back at him with much a fake smile. Here was real compitition. [They don't really seem like much.] >You shouldn't put it past you.< [...] Ah the bits and parts of wonderful conversations. R'yth nodded and stood waiting. Ganianth seemed to be waiting as well, his wings folded against his sides, but ready to spring into flight, not a full speed, no, he would fly only hard enough to catch the Queen. Yes, that's what he'd do, Fly the Queen, forget the others, focus on the task ahead. |

[These are mere young ones, nothing compaired to I.] Taviath said, >Alright, deadglow, you may not want to underestimate them!< M'helan said, his face straight as not to give away a sign to his competitors that Taviath was aggervating him. This was only one of the stages before flight, at least for Taviath. Aggervation of the rider, silence, and then his hungery eyes swirling red with lust and his anxious body flying down to the grounds to blood with the bronzes who would blood with him. M'helan looked at each one of them, "So, how is everyone today? Fine I hope? And dear Ranea, your golden beauty looks rather luminous today." M'helan said lastly to his Weyrwoman with the same charming tone. |

B'naf raised his eyebrows inwardly, but, deciding that M'helan was worthy of respect as the senior Bronzer, kept a lid on his amusement and resisted the urge to do something silly and possibly offensive. "I'm doing splendidly, I must say. Still stuck on Fort Weyr time; you'd be amazed at the things people do when they think the rest of the Weyr is sleeping," he said, since it gave him opportunity to give in to his desire to grin. |

Yes, that's what's different from Weyr to Weyr...the times." M'helan said, thinking of Weyr's he had visted in the past, and how each one of them had their own customs, even though they all shared the same basic ones. He then wondered what customs that Tkana would adopt in the future. He looked back at B'naf, "So, I don't think I quite caught your name when you arrived, nor your dragon's." he said, eyeing the other bronzerider. |

((;D sounds cool to me! )) B'naf nodded in agreement; there was really nothing to say. Without missing a beat or letting M'helan's scrutiny disquiet him, he smiled. "Of course, I've not been here very long, haven't gotten to meet everyone quite yet. My name is B'naf, and that Bronze about ready to leap out of his hide over there is my Craibth. Pleased to meet you, I'm sure," B'naf answered cheerfully, gesturing vaguely in his beast's direction before holding out his hand unflappably for the proper greeting. He hadn't forgotten about Ranea, and he glanced at her, recalling the discomfiture of the greenriders whose dragons were rising for the first time. Craibth had chased gold once before, but for a far more wizened Weyrwoman, and B'naf honestly didn't wish to handle this young woman poorly on any measure. |

"B'naf...the name suits you." M'helan said, his tone more complementairy than normal. He was hostile to other riders around flights, just like his dragon who was hostile to other dragons. M'helan did not want to lose and have to hang his head in disappointment; Taviath shared the same feelings. M'helan asked, "How old are you, if you don't mind me asking, B'naf?" his curiosity getting the better of him. |

"It's the apostrophe. I'm just a punctuation type of guy, I guess," B'naf fluttered his eyelashes, unable to stay serious. He realized a moment after the words left his mouth that he'd better gloss over it. "I'm 23 Turns, 24 next spring," the redhead answered with a hint of a grin. He assumed that M'helan had asked to make a point-- B'naf was young and had ridden fewer Turns, was less experienced and probably more hotheaded. All that M'helan had to say was 'I see' to strike it home, and B'naf would have no reasonable grounds to defend himself. So he just smiled at the older Bronzer, wondering if that'd been his intention after all, or if he, B'naf, was just being paranoid. After all, taunts made on the ground made little difference once the chase began. "And if that's your Taviath, you must be M'helan, am I right? There were only two bronzeriders on the list I saw," B'naf blinked at him. |

She hardly moved her eyes from Kyriniath, when M'helan spoke. "I hear that you did not want to stay in the Candidate barracks over night, after all." There was a no poison in her words, just a mere teasing. "Good morning, M'helan." [Don't greet him. Taviath is the oldest. He has more stamina.] >I have to be polite. Even if I hated every one of them, one of them will end up as our Weyrleader, and the Rider of your mate.< [Mates can be changed.] >But it's a lot harder to kick out a Weyrleader.< [Oh well. Taviath is okay.] >Don't judge until you've flown far and high. We want to prove our greatness.< Ranea smiled. [And we will! Oh, and one thing more. TAVIATH, AT THE FIRST SHELL, GET OUT OF MY WATER!] Ranea turned her head at grinned at M'helan. "Yes, B'naf. It's a strange feeling the first time, I suppose. But I was prepared for it already." She sighed. At least they were polite. But according to what she had seen between the male Rider of the Catcher and the queen Rider, they had their reasons. Psh. They'd know better soon. [And so will you, little one.] >Focus on your bathing. The sun will rise soon.< [And so will I!] Listening to the Riders' conversation, she picked up the mug and the oil. She then waited for Rubin to appear again. As soon as the firelizard understood, she called a few of her friends and they carried both the mug and the oil away. *klah* "No thanks, Rubin. I'm fine." |

"Yes, Taviath is mine, and I am M'helan." He said, looking to the Weyrwoman. "I most indefinately did not want to stay with them, mainly since the rooms were not as comforting as my new weyr." He said, smiling at Ranea. [Sorry my Queen...] Taviath said, backing away from her, bowing his head just as M'helan had told him to do if any Queen had snapped at him. [Is it a pre-flight thing?] Taviath asked his rider, >What did she do?< M'helan asked. Taviath replied simply, [She snapped at me for being in 'her' water.] >I guess so.< M'helan said, looking at the Weyrwoman. |

R'yth having lost intrest in the current converstation with drew to his tree and smiled as Ganianth started once again to do his over view of the others. [Taviath seems to old in my oppinion, there is no way he'd out fly me, and the others are either to young or to slow.] >Don't get cockey Ganianth, they might be faster then you think.< Was all R'yth said on the subject. Ganianth seemed so cockey lately, maybe it had to do with the Rising. He hoped to Faranth that the Rising would begain soon. Especialy since Ganianth was acting like this. The normaly level-headed Bronze was acting he was mighter than the rest. But that was probbily because the Rising was soon, or so hoped R'yth. |

B'naf watched Ranea out of the corner of his eye, piecing together each tidbit he could. It seemed from what he could see that M'helan was the natural favourite, he and his big Bronze. That was fine, he thought. Let him be underestimated. Craibth had yet to complain, waiting with unalienable patience, eyes fixed on Kyriniath, or, when it seemed more efficacious to avoiding her ire, at the water where the first rays of sun and the gold's glowing hide made it sparkle nearly as fetchingly as the Queen. His silence was warm with confidence, with the knowledge that he did not need to challenge the others. "Aww, but there's no better initiation to candidacy than a great huge Bronze breathing down your neck," grinned the redhead. "Good thing you didn't sleep there M'helan. Probably would've scared the poor dears half to death! You Weyrbred folks haven't got a clue how absolutely terrifying it is to be in a Weyr for the first time," he teased. |
