"But, little M'helan, it is good to support those who need support. And it wouldn't hurt you to be a little less demanding." She felt a change in Ky's mood coming with the sun. [They're all discussing me. Dragon and human together. Discussing us. I feel it.] >You're being paranoid. They're all watching you, beauty.< The gold glanced at all the bronzes before elegantly walking up from the water. She spread her glowing, golden wings for them to dry. She turned her head and looked interested at Ranea. [I'm hungry.] The great eyes turned around, whirling with colors. [So very hungry. I could eat a bronze.] Ranea remembered her weyrling lessons. >You're not allowed to eat. I'll have to keep you from eating.< [I don't care.] |

Craibth sensed Kyriniath's growing impatience and stayed where he was, well out of the gold's way. His wings were half unfurled, eyes whirling faster and faster as he watched her, and by now had begun to hum, though it was deep in his chest yet, a basso profundo that made his throat tremble. He glanced at B'naf, catching his eyes, and the young bronzerider tensed, a smile still on his face. So, it was going to start... [I'm ready,] Craibth murmured to his rider as though the others might overhear. >Good. I think I'm getting there.< |

[She is hungery....] crooned Taviath, >And you can't feed her either.< replied M'helan, looking at his bronze with a joking glare in his eyes. Taviath snorted and lie in the water, watching his Queen glisten in the sun. M'helan looked at his Weyrwoman, "I know, but I was also a Candidate too. It rough all over and I'm sure all of us know that, but it's not that tough to get used to a Weyr. I've transferred from three different Weyrs, each at three stages in my life: 10 Turns, Candidate, and then here as a Rider." M'helan said, shrugging...sort of. "I may go a bit easier on them, but unless they absolutely cannot find where anything is, I'm open for questions." He said, unfolding and refolding his arms around his muscular chest and spreading his feet apart slightly so he stood a bit more comfortably. M'helan noticed the other riders becoming tense, just like their dragons. He could tell, for he had been around riders like this before. All of them new and unexperianced. Of course his bronze had never try to fly a Queen, but he knew the emotions from his dragon. Taviath hissed and his facet eyes whirled intensely, changing hue from greenish contentment to green/blue-red of lust, hunger, and excitement. Taviath found himself coming out of the water and into the air in a moment, flying to the heighest part of the Weyr to perch, and wait for his Queen to take flight. |

R'yth noticed that Ganianth seemed to be getting a bit restless now. So it was to start soon. He smiled and looked Ganianth in the eye. >Good luck.< Was all that was said. Ganianth looked around. Most were a bit to big to fly as fast as him. There was no lie in that. IT seemed like, from what he noted, he was the smallest bronze, hince, fastest. The heavier the dragon was, the slower. He was not big like the others, hince, he was able to fly faster. |

Bronze form watches the other dragons, eyes whirling, as his gaze shifts from scrutinizing the other bronzes to once more watching the queen. The wait was almost antagonizing, and Sith wanted her to Rise already, though his thoughts also drifted from that to the other bronzes, and the chances of them being faster than him. [Will she ever Rise?] The dragon's irritated question was directed straight at his rider, though he knew the answer before he recieved it. >Yes, she will. Just be patient. After all, of us, you are the more patient one.< Rider shakes his head at the switch of position between them, but it happened every time there was a mating flight. [Well, it better be soon. I'm sick of feeling this anxious.] Dragon's eyes whirl a little faster at this notion, as if it is a flawless excuse for his impatience. >Oh, please. You were among the last to get here; you haven't been waiting as long as the other bronzes have.< Dragon snorts, ignoring that comment as if it implied he was slow; that would mean he wouldn't have a chance at flying the gold. Rider grins at the dragon's response to the remark. >Your personality sure does change when a gold's about to rise.< N'har's thought was taunting, but he knew that Sith wouldn't care so much when he was back to normal after the flight was over. After all, this wasn't a first-time event for a six-turn-old dragon, but he always reacted the same; complete impatience for it to begin, and a doubt that the world won't flip upside-down and cause the queen to not Rise. N'har then looks around at the other riders before the dragon gives him a response, deciding that bickering with his dragon wasn't the best thing to do at this time. Sith didn't need the break in concentration, after all. "Hello," N'har says casually, finally speaking aloud, gaze travelling over all the other people, Weyrwoman included. 'Wonder who'll fly the queen.' This thought, though, was kept in his head while Sith focused on said queen; he knew what his dragon would say. He would believe himself to be the one to fly her, no matter who he had as competition. 'At least he's sure of himself, I guess.' |

As Taviath moved, Craibth lauched up to join the bigger, more experienced Bronze on the rim of the Weyr bowl, keeping a respectful and competitive distance between his perch and the other beast's. B'naf, still on the ground, turned at the sound of an oddly familiar voice. N'har's Bronze Sith had been in the same clutch as his Craibth. Assuming that they went through weyrling training together, B'naf recalled those tense, difficult days and the camraderie between the bronze weyrlings in particular. "Well hello there! It's B'naf, do you remember?" B'naf exclaimed, delighted to see a familiar Fortian face. "N'har, I hadn't heard that you'd be transferring," he cocked an eyebrow at him. He didn't intend to get all reacquainted right there with Kyriniath about to rise, but he was pleased nonetheless. |

"Hm? Ah, yes. I was wondering if I'd meet up with anyone I knew here. It's been a bit now, hasn't it. All the same, good to see a familar face." N'har may have said more, but was interupted by his dragon's following the other bronzes with a statement to him first. [Isn't this a bad time to be chatting with old friends? He's an opponent until this is over.] The bronze's tone was so authoritive his rider couldn't help but laugh out loud, despite the puzzled looks he'd probably get, as others couldn't hear the comment. >Competition for you, maybe, but we're staying right here on the ground; it's not like we'll be flying through the air like you.< Rider quits laughing by the time his response was finished, gaze now focused on the moving bronzes. 'So. It's almost time.' Brown eyes flicker from one bronze to another before settling back on his own; it was easier to watch Sith until the beasts finally took off; then he could track who was in the lead until they got too high or far for him to tell any more. Unless it was a short flight, but those supposedly gave smaller clutches, so his thoughts didn't stay on that idea for long. It was good to have large clutches, especially in such a newly established weyr. |

R'yth watched the two chums and smiled. How nice, someone that guy knows. R'yth, unlike his usual self, stayed out of the way. Ganianth stretched his bronze wings and looked at the Gold intently. He was growing impatient, the Gold was taking forever! His eyes looked over the Queen. He'd be ready, his wasn't tensing up like before, and so he wouldn't be tired. He was ready to spring into action, however, at the first sign of her lifting up to fly. Ganianth was that determined to fly her. R'yth smiled at his dragon. >Don't strain yourself.< He said to his dragon. [I will not.] Was all his dragon said on the subject. R'yth sighed. His dragon was so sure of himself. |

Suddenly Kyriniath spread her fabolous wings and took off, sending a small storm down to the Riders, almost knocking her own Rider over. >Don't even try!< Ranea got on her legs and started running after Ky, trying to get hold of her with her mind and will. Ranea wanted this to be succesfull, it was a criteria in her mind. When reaching the sheeps, Kyriniath picked a young female - a light starter. Ranea stopped a short distance away and controlled her golden dragon. Kyriniath rolled her big, red eyes and tried hard to get to eat the sheep, but only managed to bow her head down and start sucking the blood. Finished, she decided for a well-fed ram. Again, she was only allowed to drink the blood. This repeated itself with at least 5 sheeps, and while drinking, the queen started to glow more and more... |

Bronze head turns sharply at the gold dragon's movement. It was almost time. Whirling eyes focused on the queen, he prepares to launch after her when she finishes and Rises. All this thoughts were focused on the glowing dragon now, so if his rider tried to speak to him, he wouldn't have paid it any attention. N'har watches the queen now, knowing it's about to start. 'I hope this won't take too long,' was the only thought to cross his mind as his bronze shifted position, ready to fly. Rider glances once more at the other bronzes, wondering about their speed in comparison to Sith's. |

B'naf didn't say any more, not that he really had a chance to. Kyriniath's sudden spring left him speechless, Craibth's trumpeting echoing down to his ears as the Bronze crouched where he was perched, wings poised for the all-important downsweep that would send him soaring skyward the instant Kyriniath broke away. B'naf was not worried about the other Bronzes-- he knew his beast, knew his cleverness, strength, and speed, and everything else was left to fate. Who knew which beast would win the flight? Sometimes it was purely the desire of the people of the Weyr. His eyes rested on Ranea, even as he forged the tightest mental link to his straining beast, watching the young woman tame her dragon with finesse that B'naf was used to seeing more veteran Weyrwomen exhibit. The great glowing bulk of Kyriniath, muzzle bloodied, and Ranea's grip on her young Queen commanded B'naf's respect, but most of all, his desire. He forced himself to relax his muscles, the potency of his dragon's emotions drawing him nearer to Ranea as all bronzeriders are inexorably drawn to the Weyrwoman during flights. Craibth, too, was knotted muscle, tense sinew, huge eyes glowing with the fiercest purple. He'd chased Gold before. He knew the drill. The waiting was nearly over, and he was so ready. |

Ganianth also got ready to fly, his eyes staring intently on the Queen. His wings already ready to shoot up into the sky after the Gold. R'yth noticed Ganianth and nodded. So it was about time. >Becareful Ganianth.< He said, though his dragon probily wasn't listning to a word he said. |

Ripping open the arteria of a lamb, Kyriniath looked at the males, all rolling their eyes. She didn't need her Rider to tell her that she looked exactly the same. She waited for their rumbling sounds of interest, and she cast a glance over her shoulder at them. Males. Almost all in the beginning of their prime age. Who would ever Catch her? She was young and speedy. Then she turned her head and cast a glance at her Rider. She felt a short urge to protect her, she knew that the human males would try and Catch her, as well as the dragon males would try to Catch herself. Or so had one of the golds told her. She drank all the blood of the lamb and spread her wings, jumping up in a rush of gold. The surprise element. They'd never catch her. |

Craibth watched her intently, knowing by the way that she was moving her head and spreading her wings that she was about to be off. And she was, with a burst of power, flashing up and out of reach in seconds. But he was just as quickly after her, knowing she'd shoot straight for the heavens. That feeling of freedom flowing through her, the knowledge of her suddenly untamable strength, the blood that gave her quick energy and did not weigh her down, he knew it, he'd felt it before from other Golds. She was beautiful. If he had his way-- The young Bronze arrowed after her, knowing that keeping up with her now was key or else he'd lose her for the rest of the Flight. B'naf, on the ground, saw only distant shining dots. They were already gone. |

Ganianth noticed and jumped up into the air. He sped after her his wings flapping as fast and hard as they could. He would not loose this Queen, not now that it had finally started. R'yth was actualy surprised at how fast his Dragon reacted, parhaps a good sign? Concentarate, he needed to consentrate on what his dragon was doing. Ganianth wouldn't let thouse wimps catch her, oh no. That wouldn't acceptable! |

Taken by surprise at the quick switch from blooding to flying, it takes Sith a minute to register that the queen had Risen, but as soon as he does, large wings start beating, sending him up after the gold, gaze focused on her as he gains height and speed. There was no way he was going to let these other bronzes outfly him. No way. If only he could go faster, though. She already had a head start in that she lifted off first, and the fact she'd switched so quickly. It would be hard to catch her if he didn't go faster or her go slower. |

With the quick switch of blooding kill to flying through the air, Taviath was off in the air behind her. He was able to pull in close, due to he was already close enough to her when he was on the heights. No bronze would out do him! He hissed as his wings pumped, gaining speed. He was large, of course, but he was powerful and had more stamina. Speed was not what was needed, but strength of body and mind. He began to croon a loving song to his beloved Queen as he followed her as close as he could. M'helan was on the ground below, almost in panic. He was soon totally in Taviath's control, and he was trying to sense his way towards the Weyrwoman and the other riders. ooc; Short and crappy but I must catch up with all of you... -.- |

Ranea felt the joy go through her veins. She was in the air, and it took a few moments for her to realise that her feet were on the ground. She remembered the words from a teacher Keep her from flying between!. But Kyriniath didn't want to fly between. Not yet, anyway. She wanted to prove that she was better than any of the bronzes. The feeling of air under their wings...they were going faster than ever before. They ccast a glance over one shoulder: The bronzes were there. So? They'd outfly them! |

Taviath roared and flew faster, gaining. He wanted to catch her, for his pride depended on it. Even if he did not catch her, he hoped a bronze with good sense would. His wings felt the rush of cool air below him, and he wished there was a thermal to catch that would help him rise higher and alot faster in order to catch the Queen. Below, M'helan hoped for this flight to remain clean with no violence like most turned out. He gasped for air and punged in his dragon's mind, watching and felt every single thing that was in his dragon's mental and physical feeling. |

Ganianth flapped his wings harder. He wasn't extreamly far behind, farther than some, closer than others. He didn't want to waste his energy, put he didn't care so faster he flew. His lust for the Queen was surprising. He didn't care about the others. It was him, and the Queen. |
