[We've arrived at this place before, I know. But that doesn't help us much.]

Landing elegantly on the ground, Nyth folded her great, golden wings. Allyria looked around with a deep sigh. It was a sigh from the heavy responsability on her shoulders, and it was a sigh from the impressive surroundings. It was indeed a beautiful place, and she was glad that she had been chosen to be the first Weyrwoman. They could have chosen an older, more experienced woman, but they wanted someone young to go. Besides, none of the experienced Weyrwomen wanted to leave the Weyrs with the threat of Thread. It would be falling in a few turns, and even Allyria was afraid. They had never experienced that before, and she was afraid that Nyth wouldn't Fly soon enough for the Weyrlings to grow experienced. They had been chosen to go here, because the Tkana and Aradex Holds along with the HarperHall had been wanting a protector for many turns. And now they were here...

Darath was one of the first of the group of dragons to land after the Queen and Weyrwoman had. His rider, Glin, slid off his back and landed with much less grace then the dragon had. You'd think he'd get better at it with time, but he hadn't. >So this is our new home,< G'lin said to Darath, >It seems nice. At least the outside does. I don't know about the inside.< [I'm sure the inside is as nice as the outside.] G'lin scanned the area one more time, this time looking for the Weyrwoman. He figured it would probably be best to check in with her.

So this was the new Weyr. Rider and dragon were both looking around with interest the moment that Sulith had landed, though N'har had started his observations in the air while the dragon focused on getting them down. Jumping from the bronze, he looks around again, as if trying to memorize the appearance from every angle. >It looks quite impressive.<

[Yes.] The dragon responded with just one word to his rider's observation, staring at the place that was to be their new home. Sulith's mind was completely focused on the present, simply on the fact that they were here now and what the Weyr looked like from outside, as was typical for dragons. N'har, however, was considering the future. The possibilities of him becoming Weyrleader or at least a Wingleader. What it would be like, helping to start this Weyr?

His dragon didn't understand these thoughts, why his rider was already thinking about the gold's Flight and further into the future when they hadn't even done anything past landing here yet. But then, he'd never known his rider to live in the present. No, he was always thinking about the past or future; his thoughts only remained in the present when something important was happening.

So this was Tkana Weyr.

A small blue dragon spiralled to the ground, landing with a soft thump. Luedes, perched behind the dragon's rider, felt terrifyingly small compared to the larger dragons around him. The rider helped him slide down, much to Luedes' annoyance. He didn't need any help. He was eighteen turns, and rather proud of that small fact. However, he politely thanked the blue rider for bringing him, and turned his back, his gaze falling on his new home. He had seen the Weyr from above ground, and it had seemed so small - and yet now it seemed so large.
Luedes felt lonely already. But he shook the though to the back of his mind, focusing instead of the excitement and nervousness of the people and dragons surrounding him. Some apprehensive, some worried, some overwhelmed, some estatic. And Luedes fit into every category. He felt odd and out of place, but all the same he could feel excitement welling in his chest. Luedes was not normally one for overused cliches, but in a way, he felt as if he was starting an adventure. Ha. Maybe he was just excited because his mother was so far away. She'd never be able to visit, unless she came by dragon, which she very rarely would allow.

He looked up, only to see more dragons landing, bringing more rider, candidates, weyrfolk to Tkana. As excited as he was, Luedes was certainly yearning for some company of his own age, and was eager to meet all the other candidates.
Luedes almost had to stifle a laugh; his thoughts were so cluttered, he barely felt like himself anymore!

Allyria looked backwards, eyeing all the dragons landing in perfect formations behind her. She felt proud and suddenly eager to get started. This was a perfectly coordinated Weyr. Or would be. The riders were nice and polite, and they had brought a nice amount of Candidates, as it was expected that Nyth would Fly soon, as the red planet was coming closer and closer. [Don't worry so much, dear. We will do perfectly fine. How could they resist obeying us?] Nyth shook her head in a way that would, if she had hair, had caused it to fall behind her shoulders in a L'Oreal-way. >Good point, Nythie. But what if...what if something goes wrong? Are you even going to Fly soon?< [That's my business. Take care of the riders, then I'll take care of the dragons,] Nyth asked with the rumble that indicated giggling. Allyria sighed.

Far behind this, a tourmaline dragon landed, the female rider setting down Irini, before taking off again to take the first shift. Irini looked around, still thrilled with the feeling of being here and flying between. It had been amazing! She'd have to Impress, she simply had to. Looking around, she was stunned by all the beautiful dragons, especially the shining gold in front. Such a beautiful creature, Irini thought with a soft sigh. She then finally managed to get her eyes of the rays of sun, which were reflected by the scales, and tried hard to locate some other Candidates.

Grateful to finally be out of the cold of between, Isalia looked around at the new Weyr from above, at least, until the dragon transporting her went down to land and she had to get off. Now viewing it from the ground, she decides it's definitely a nice Weyr, at least, from the outside. They hadn't gone inside yet, after all. As soon as she'd dismounted from the dragon, however, Kiro had flown straight to her shoulder, landing while chittering, not liking that she rode a dragon to the Weyr, which kept him from riding on her shoulder; he hated riding on his larger cousins.

Shaking her head, Isalia glances at the gold dragon and her rider, wondering how long until the Hatching. Though, first the gold had to Rise, then Clutch. She knew that much. She just didn't know how long the time was between the Flight and Clutching, and Clutching and the Hatching. Oh, well. She was more interested in Impressing a dragon than in how long it took for her to get the chance.

---

Kalimo hops off the dragon carrying him as soon as it lands, pretending indifference to the appearance of the Weyr, as if he had been expecting better, but it would do. Of course, this was typical of him. He was always trying to make himself appear better than others. He'd been called "conceited" more times than he could count, and wasn't sure why. He truly believed there was something better about him and others just couldn't recognize it, so he had to seem better in a way that they could.

Oh, well. What mattered now was that at the first Hatching he would Impress a bronze or one of these platinums, maybe. Bronze would be better, though. He'd heard the riders of these newer colors, the ones named after stones, were sometimes looked down upon. Certainly riding a bronze would be better. Either way, he knew he would Impress the best male dragon in the Clutch, whether it be bronze or platinum. Of course, this was another example of how highly the candidate thought of himself.

---

Staring at the magnificent Weyr, Drahius barely manages to recognize that his ride is over. Indeed, he had to be told by the rider that the dragon transporting him had landed. Getting down as fast as he can, embarrassed to have not recognized the feel of the creature landing. Taiath had already abandoned him in search of other flits, being too curious to simply stay by his owner; he hadn't ever got to associate much with other "trained" fire-lizards before Drahius was Searched, and now that they were outside staring at the Weyr, he wasn't going to waste a chance to meet the other flits.

Taiath's spirit sank a bit at the realization that, at a quick glimpse, he spotted only one other fire-lizard. Flying over, he chitters at the brown on Isalia's shoulder, but only getting an angry response from the agitated flit; the brown had still not calmed down from the earlier suggestion that he ride a dragon with Isalia. No, he had gone between on his own to Isalia once she'd come out above the Weyr.

Luedes was feeling a whole lot better now. There were candidates arriving, some looking just as intimidated as Luedes felt, and that comforted the candidate somewhat. Sighing happily, he ran a hand through his light hair, looking over his shoulder and noticed a Tourmaline dragon landing, and Irini slipping of its back. He knew she was a candidate like himself right away - she looked simply stunned just to be standing there, unlike the many of the dragonriders who yawned with the air of having 'been there, done that'. He hastily made his way over to her, grinning quite broadly. He stood next to her for just a second, before whispering softly; 'Excited?'. His eyes twinkled as he spoke, greatful he finally had somewhere to share his excitement with.

Irini was staring with open mouth at the flits over at the other Candidates. Even if they were only brown and blue, they were still flits - a rare sight at Tkana Hold. She then heard the male Candidate's voice and turned around, not really having picked up what he said. "Um hi...I'm Irini...and you were saying?" she answered, trying to look like she wasn't confused or scared. This whole thing scared her, and while she was used to be able to drive the boys at home around in circles, she felt unsure that she'd manage to do the same thing here. And her sisters weren't here to protect her, either.

Luedes waited patienty for the girl's reply, craning his neck to see what she was looking at. He too noticed the fire-lizards, and smiled at the sight of them. He had seen only a few in his lifetime, and although he had spent hours upon hours with his young friends combing the beachside, he had never seen a wild flit; much to his dismay. Yet compared to the amazing sragons beside him, the small creatures seemed almost.. silly. He turned back to Irini, heard her reply, and couldn't help but chuckle a bit - even though it seemed almost impolite to do so.
"I was asking if you were excited - though judging from the fact you didn't hear my question, I've already got the answer." He paused for a second, then shrugged. "Doesn't matter what the question was anyway - I'm Luedes. And you?"

Irini now managed to listen to his question, and as an answer, she placed her right hand on her heart. "Irini." She then moved her hand to his heart. "Luedes." Giggling a bit, she removed her hand. "I already told you my name, so I'm obviously not the only one being slow as an old blue!" she teased him with a grin. She had heard one of the riders use this term and had taken it to her, liking it much.

Omia slid off the blue dragon shortly after it landed. The draong's rider tossed the few belongings she had brought with her, and joined her on the ground. "Thank you," She said to the rider. Omia was one of the candidates, brought for the first clutch of the Weyr-which didn't yet exist. She hadn't taken much consideration as to which dragon she'd like to impress; she'd be glad if she impressed at all. Taking a quick look around, she headed over to a group who seemed to be candidates like her. "Hi," She said, hoping she wasn't interrupting, "Are you candidates, too?"

Luedes raised an eyebrow as she placed a hand on her heart, cracking a wide smile. He couldn't help himself - he was really here, really a candidate. He nodded solemnly as she placed a hand on his chest, imitating mock seriousness. He felt at ease now, and felt safe with someone else around, someone who also shared his sense of humour. He was nervous no longer, he now felt almost... elated.
"Ah, what? Oh, really? Seems like an old blue is a very relevant comparison to the two of us then!" He said with a smile, tilting his head sideways slightly as Omia approached. He held out a hand as she approached, again putting on a serious face, though his eyes twinkled. "Actually, sorry - we're not candidates. Irini here is the Weyrwoman of this Weyr, and I am simply her servant." He nodded after his small speech, looking back at Irini for a moment with a small, playful smirk.

Irini had to hide her smile behind a hand, while nodding at Omia. "Yes, right. And now my humble servant will go bathe my dragon." She nodded at him. "And clean up after her, of course..." She grinned amusedly. "After that, he can bring the two of us lunch, how does that sound?" she asked Omia, turning Luedes' little joke back on himself.

Luedes looked sideways at Irini as she spoke. He couldn't help but grin at the way she turned the joke around; it was exactly something he would do. But in good spirit, he continued along with the act, nodding seriously at each request. 'Of course, Weyrwoman. I shall start right away.' He pulled himself into a deep bow, trying to hide his smile. But the act stopped there; his balance wavered, and Luedes did as best as he could not to fall on his face, instead crumpling into a heap on the ground. He took only a moment to recover, before looking up at Omia with a amazingly large grin. He held out his hand again, eyes twinkling wickedly. 'Luedes.' He said simply, still sitting awkwardly on the ground, gold-blonde hair a mess.

Omia smirked at the pair's act. She knew that the girl wasn't the weyrwoman-the woman standing with the Gold had to be the real leader of the Weyr. She giggled as Leudes fell in to a heap on the ground. Taking his hand, she wasn't sure whether to help him up or shake it. She quickly decided to go with the second choice. "I'm Omia," She said, "Nice to meet you."

Irini looked at Luedes fall with a grin. "Bad servant," she noted before reaching out at Omia. "My name really is Irini. Hey Omia. Which one did you get here on?" This was one of the things, which really interested her. She loved the dragons, and didn't care much for the colors, more for the dragons themselves.

Luedes peered up at Omia with a curious expression on his face, still on the ground in a rather awkward position. He shook her hand with vigour, then lazily clambered back on to his feet, looking over at Irini with a wicked smile. 'Actually, I quit. I'm working for Weyrwoman Omia now. And if you didn't notice, Irini, she came on the gold dragon over there. Because she's the new Weyrwoman, Right, Omia?' He nodded happily, looking at both girls. 'Are you excited? I mean, for the hatching? I know It'll be ages still, but..' He chanegd the topic abruptly, excitement crossing over his every feature.

"Right. Now, how about getting us some lunch?" Omia continued with their little act, a smile on her face. She was a bit surprised at Leudes' (Leudes's?) sudden jump in subject; it just seemed so random. "I definitely am. Its gonna seem like forever waiting for it. But hopefully it won't be that long a wait." Suddenly relized that she hadn't answer Irini's question. "I came over on that one," She said, pointing to the blue dragon that had carried her there.

Noticing a few of the candidates having some kind of conversation nearby, Isalia walked towards them, curious as to what they were talking about. She thought she'd heard something about the Weyrwoman earlier. "Hello, I'm Isalia." It seemed like a decent idea to make her presence known if she had any intention more than to eavesdrop; after all, they were already in the middle of a conversation.

Chirping indignantly, Kiro had followed after Isalia, as soon as he realized she'd wandered off, that is. He'd been paying more attention to the dragons and other flits, and was caught by surprise when the shoulder under him had moved. Enough so that he'd dislodged himself to scold her, only to realize she was already talking to three others. Humans. After having reclaimed his position on his owner's shoulder, Kiro glanced at the other candidates, wondering why Isalia had taken a sudden interest in them. But the fire-lizard found no explanation and chose to give his perch another irritated chirp.

"Would you be quiet, Kiro? It's not my fault you're always staring at the dragons and don't notice when I start moving. Haven't you had time to get used to their presence yet?" Shaking her head as if it was the saddest thing she'd ever seen, she glanced back at the other three candidates, curious as to if either her short greeting or her fire-lizard's ramblings would get any sort of response, though she couldn't imagine a positive one in the case of the flit.

Irini nodded as a response to Luedes. "Yes, I'm quite nervous in fact...I can't imagine myself standing there and Impressing one of those magnificent creatures..." She shook her head, her expression worried. "Oh, okay." Irini smiled again at Omia, her mind being distracted. "Lunch sounds great. Will you be coming along with us, Isa...Isal...Isaline?" Irini looked at the new girl, trying to remember the name, before forgetting everything. "AT THE FIRST SHELL, IS THAT A FLIT?!" She immediately moved her head to directly in front of the poor Kiro. "Why do everybody else have one? What does he eat? Does he sleep in your bed?"
