i know that i am not an Admin, but i notice a lot of bumping.
and yes it is annoying to see a 2-3 year old post that has no Business being brought back up.

i was banned from the JR Forum from Bumping 2 times, and i learned my lesson, i see some people bumping multiply times

i think all new members (opinion) should read this.

Thanks

Robby

As an member of TCR, I know how you feel. Out Admins and our Moderators do take actions against it. I do agree though, every new member should read the general rules of TCR.

I get very aggravated when people bump threads. I warn and close the topic nearly every time I see it happen. Problem is you cant force someone to read anything. Warnings are the only recourse we have.

I do get irrated as well when I see a bump especially when its from a member who has been here long enough to know not to. Also when someone bumps a post with no real feedback. I'm ok with bumps that are actually useful, lets say a trainz problem that never got solved but 1 year later someone who knew the answer posted it. I wouldn't have a problem with that kind of bump however; the other post bumps such as: "Great Job" or "Can you send that to me" ,especially when that person is bumping a 1 year + thread, irrate me.
Also to all members. If you see a post that has been bumped or violates TCR's rules feel free to report it. Reporting a post will bring it to the attention of TCR's staff.

I hate it when old threads are bumped, as well. But I made the mistake of playing moderator about it, too. XD

Again all you guys have to do is report it and it automatically brings it to the attention of the admins and moderators. The easiest thing to do is to not bump a post unless you have something that is on point to the subject and could be seen as useful to that thread.

Bumping is replying to and old thread usually 6 months or older unless you have some to ask or add that maybe relevant to the topic.

Like posting on a topic in the news thread after 6 months if it is with updated information, a new point of position on the topic, or so forth is okay. a post like "What happened" is not acceptable.

Yes feel free to reply to any topic here on TCR with the condition that it applies to the topic and its something useful such as a question or information for someone asking help. Bumping a post that is 1 year old with a comment such as "Can I have that please" or "Sweet" is not acceptable and is rather annoying. But again don't be afraid to post here just keep the bumping rule in mind when you do.

To be clear THIS IS what usually happens when BUMPING.

A new person joins TCR (this site, thanx) They start reading all the topics and posts we have. They find a topic they like. They add a reply or a question without looking at the date on it. The date is old and the topic is old, but they post anyway.

By doing that they knock the recent post and topic off the board, and pull up an old post that is not relevant.

OK so now the definition and context of BUMPING is explained.
Now lets see what the consequences are for such action.

A warning , most likely verbal, and plenty of PM's I'm sure from alot of people that hate bumping.
Second.. Up warning level.
Third..... Up warning level.
( By this time you should understand----"BUMPING=BAD")
Forth time..Do I really have to go there????

Could you not put new members on moderation for their first 5 posts or something?
I've seen it used elsewhere and it tends to work quite well.

This topic is not closed. Mallet5 You are not a moderator or an administator so do not make posts claiming that a post has been closed. You've been warned.

@90019 Thanks for the tip. TCR has a good warning system in place. Much consideration goes into place when using the warning system. Most times, for me anyway, its a judgement call based on a number of things.
