I forgot to mention, you can only guess ONE locomotive type per post. So, that post is automatically disqualified. But you can re-post one of those again, by it's self. :D

Both wrong.

to avoid eliminated picks from being guessed again, I'll start posting wrong guesses in a list.

SD70ACe
GE Dash 8-40CW
GE Dash 8-40C

Since Thallium failed to be more specific as to which Dash 8 he meant, both the standard & wide cab versions are eliminated, as both would be wrong, anyway.

Genset switchers are not EMD or GE units. Therefore, they don't count.

AC4400CW isn't it, either.

Eliminated picks (as of this post):

SD70ACe
D8-40CW
D8-40C
AC4400CW

Again, I must say it:

ONLY ONE LOCOMOTIVE PER GUESS/POST!

Also, those 4 aren't the ones, anyway.

4 choices eliminated, so far:
Union Pacific 844
4-8-8-4 "Big Boy"
Shay
Climax

challenger?
Challenger isn't really a "rare" type, as there were several dozen on several railroad lines.

5 choices eliminated, so far:
Union Pacific 844
4-8-8-4 "Big Boy"
Shay
Climax
Challenger

Since no one is getting it, based on one clue, here's hint #2:

The classification is what makes it rare, not the wheel arrangement. It's another country's name for the type.
