Is there anyone here that is good with 3DSmax or gmax and knows how to export with them and animate stuff? |

Simply click export and make sure animation is selected. In order for it to export an animated file there has to be a dummy object or 'bone' on the mesh. Trainz only understands animations with the prefix b.r. so what ever you name your dummy objects they have to start with b.r. ex b.r.fan b.r.wheel etc... Not sure why Trainz did this but they did. As far the export itself, simply click export and the option for animation and geometry will appear. Make sure both are selected. It will export the necessary '.im' (mesh) file and the '.kin' (animation) file. This is a good animation tutorial. Pretty old but it gets to the point http://www.worldoftrainz.com/Pages/Tutorials_UTC/GmaxAnimFanTut.htm Edited by RZTaylorJr, January 4 2014, 09:41 AM.

No problem. When it comes to rendering objects in 3d, especially for Trainz, practice makes perfect. Don't start with locomotives and rolling stock. Start with something easy. I worked through the WOT tutorials to get me started and from there youtube helped me the rest of the way. |
