Mod Moltare and the Clan Plan Greetings, ladies and gentlemen. As you may be aware, we've made some progress in the last year with our commitment to keeping communication with you guys as high as we can, fixing issues close to your hearts, and keeping the backend systems of clans purring nicely. Mod Maz and Mod MattHe have presided over a number of fixes, including some big improvements to our maintenance tools, quality-of-life help for citadels and clan management, and cosmetic improvements/fixes - all with your informed feedback taken into account. As we proceed out of the earliest stages of 2014 I want to confirm that we'll be carrying on with that plan of collating your suggestions, designing potential improvements, seeking your input on those improvements, and keeping you abreast of our progress. As Mod Edam said last year: •This IS a plan of things we’d like to address. •This is NOT a promise of future updates. The clan core systems are very complex and quite inflexible; a lot of what we want to do may not be feasible. Please keep this in mind, we’d rather be open with you but we don’t want to be accused of breaking promises if things don’t work out. So here we go! The Plan • Our Big Thing at the moment is the Clan Permission Changes. One of our biggest issues with clans is the lack of flexibility in the permission system – it makes it hard for you to run your clan in the way you want. The fact that admins always have the kick permission is an example of some of the system’s inflexibility. We're working with our in-house User Experience expert and with our engine team to bring you a better interface and finer control; development time will likely be in the multiples of months. • Temp Muting. Giving you the power to mute a clan member who needs to cool down is still a thing we'd like to do. • Improvements to the Clan Avatar. A better way of setting Avatar Warden permissions is part of the permissions rework, but keep the suggestions coming. • Searchable Clan Lists. Creating a list of clans showing every clan that’s online on your world. This would make it much easier for new players to find a clan and will make it easier for you to advertise. • Clan Message of the day. It would be great to be able to post a message that’s sent to all clan members when they log on next. Probably built from a template rather than free text entry. • Better ways of showing someone’s fealty/cap. • Avatar recall button in the citadel to call a wandering avatar home in ten minutes instead of six hours. • Dealing appropriately with inactive clan leaders so administration can continue. • Adding group teleports for clan members (from safe locations, to a shortlist of destinations, possibly for a cost or on a cooldown). • Clan cape as a custom override. Use the customisation system to change your cape for the clan cape. Things we can't do, at least at the moment: •Admin Log. While we know it'd be a boon to see joins, kicks, contributions over time, the sheer amount of information storage we'd need means it's not going to be an option in the immediate future.
