Name of Proposal: (Race: Construct) Flesh Atronach
Section: Miscellaneous
Please detail your proposal:
Race Name: Generally called Atronachs, the word flesh sometimes changed depending on the elemental the being may be based off of.

Average Height: Varies, with some being unnaturally short even in adult forms, to being incredibly tall and gigantic.

Common Skin Tones: Varies. Some tan, some burn, some freckle, some... react badly to the sun.

Common Hair Colors: Typically based off their "core", this as well can vary as much as everything else about their physical appearance.

Common Eye Colors: See above.

Aging Rate: N/A, as they physically remain the age they are summoned, though they do have a peak point starting at about three to five years of age, when they show the most physical signs of their core affecting them, with some of the least chances of deterioration, and most strength in terms of their abilities.

Average Lifespan: Though considered immortal with enough care and mending from their creator, their bodies and minds begin to show signs of deterioration starting at around ten years of age, though the less masterfully-crafted, mass created sorts can begin to show such at at two years, even a few months. Though both can be held back with care, it eventually may become too troublesome for their master, who may eventually put them down.

By all means, however, they can be killed -- Either by removal of their seal, a failed transferal of such, or completely destroying their body.

Adulthood Rites: N/A

Alliances: They hold a great deal of solidarity among their own species, if not pitted against one another. Some hold scorn for whatever species they witness enslaving them and treating them badly, while others madly worship them. They're a mixed bag.

Most Common Occupations: Many, in fomorian settlements, work as lower class laborers and quickly crafted infantry. Others may find themselves working as guards and as flesh shields, some of the liberated sorts working from mage to mage in order to keep themselves repaired... and, still, others may find themselves as substitute family members.

Defining Abilities: Depending on their "core", they may have some sorts of elemental abilities, though constructs of that sort are likely the least physically stable and can cause haywire when it comes to other magicks, and are typically used for war. Others, mainly, have abilities based on just what they're missing.

For the most part, atronachs are not all created equally, with many having flaws in their design and missing organs, bones, limbs, even muscle. However, due to their innate magical nature as a construct, they can eventually come past such with some means of assistance, adapting eagerly and quickly. Those who physically miss nothing are almost considered only useful for spying, due to the fact many complete ones look perfectly normal.

Another use for them, however, is rather more gruesome -- Mana batteries. As they grow older and stronger, beginning from their creation, their natural dependence on mana becomes less of an issue as they themselves become a natural conduit for such. Some magi desperate for power, and willing to wait, will make multiple constructs -- only to slaughter them all later, and reap the benefits of a great deal of mana. For this reason, some will use their constructs for sacrifices, and focuses for rituals, in comparison to using a normal being.

As well, however, this dependency on mana is a bane to those constructs who are borne as magi. Training them is a risky procedure, due to the fact they may accidentally and terribly tire themselves out with a single miscast... though, those who get past this issue eventually learn to drain mana from other beings.

Defining Physical Traits: Barring anything they may be missing, and any physical oddities from their "core" and the nature of their creation, all atronachs bear at least one seal of their master/creator, commonly placed at or near what they are missing.

However, most notable for all sorts is just how their appearance is worked out. It is typically a mix of the bones used to craft them, the gender that whoever had such bones at one time happened to be, the gender/appearance of the crafter (Who must use part of their own flesh and a great deal of their blood in order to make the construct not just a living skeleton), and the core.

Though atronachs themselves are biologically genderless, a safeguard against unwanted constructs and perhaps a side effect of their unnatural nature, "female" ones do have the physical frames of such gender, alongside fat deposits where any other woman would have such -- while "males" as well, for men in this case. Gender is determined rather simply, as said, depending on creator. It is notable that many more atronachs are denoted as female than male.

(Science!: This is because of Chromosomes: Women are XX, men are XY. A female creator(XX) using a woman's bones(XX) will create a woman, no matter what. A female creator and a man's bones(XY) could go either way. A man, using either set of bones, could still possibly create a female atronach among whatever males they try to craft.)

In some cases, atronachs are based off of a particular person, using a part of them for the "core". Should the person still be alive, or them forced into the role that person once had... these sorts are notably the least stable, due to feeling as if they completely lack an identity, thanks to being a perfect physical clone and sometimes emotional clone of them.

As an added note, some purposely craft using a child's bones, in order to create child-shaped atronachs... all for the sake of psychological defense for some, and for others a familial substitute.

One notable issue, compared to most other constructs, is that atronachs have a will and their own mind, even with the commands their creator can give them in order to force them to do something. Because of such, there have been incidents of those brutalized lashing out against their creator... which is why many either break their will, or simply regard them as family.

Traditional Names: Some are given names of items and whatnot important to the creator, while others terms that fit their uses and "core". Most commonly, their names are fomorian, but it truly all depends on their creator.

Creation: The crafting of such beings is not entirely tricky, barring obtaining supplies... if, well, rather risky. There have been cases of would-be creators bleeding out and fainting, or worse, while others have involved the creator themselves forced into the atronach's body.

The ritual itself begins with the gathering of bones, in attempts to get a complete skeleton -- The more recent, higher quality, and more alike in terms of body/gender/etc, the more likely of a successful, less-flawed summon... Though, considering how hard it is to judge bones, this often isn't the case. Most bases are a mix of elvish, human, fomorian, and perhaps even goblinoid bones, while those of giants are often crafted using ogre, trollish, and giant bones. Typically, however, a mix is regarded as the best idea, due to the properties of said bones.

After the collecting and sorting of bones, they must be assembled into a fairly complete skeleton, and laid upon where the creation will take place. The creator must then begin to use their blood in order to draw runes and sigils around and both on the skeleton, this part taking some time depending on the size of the skeleton and the size of the creator, though sometimes can be shortcut in a manner -- After all, if one can craft flesh, they likely know enough to alter the regeneration of their own blood and flesh as well.

After such runes have been set, the creator must carve off a piece of their own flesh, most simply using the digits of their toes or a bit of their leg, and place such where it was taken from them. As well, while painful, this likely will not entirely inhibit a creator.

Once the flesh and blood have been readied, alongside the skeleton, a suitable core must be used during the creation and molding of the construct's flesh; As a conduit for the sheer mana flowing in, the atronach's own abilities, and as a focus should the ritual fail -- Better to sacrifice an object than the creator's life, though failures have caused many to accidentally use their own flesh as a core... and, thus, create something of a clone of themselves.

This process, the forcing of flesh to create and multiply from the blood and flesh placed, and bind to the bones, will take about two hours of the magician chanting almost nonstop. Pausing somewhere along the line could lead to flaws, be them the simplest and smallest of things that are unnoticeable, to the construct being braindead and simply a vegetable; and worst of all the ritual completely failing to bind the atronach to the creator, leading to a feral beast likely to try and kill them.

When finished, the core itself typically crumbles into dust, as the creator speaks the final lines of the ritual, which thus place their own seal onto the atronach. And, thus, one is created... though, likely lacking in language skills, walking ability, and even combat. Though, they learn such in due time, and quickly, due to what little lifespan they have.

Culture & History: First reportedly used in the First Battle of Mag Tuireadh, among fomorians, those captured were immediately burned and destroyed by the church of Lymilark -- Beings of wicked, altered ergmancy, abominations by all means.

Most records among curious, human scholars that captured and experimented on their sort were lost, until, again, in the Second battle, they made an appearance. In this case, however, more were readily caught by a budding community of magi, who had forsaken the confides of Lymilark and Druidism, in order to learn more and more about just what makes mana tick.

These constructs were a perfect example of such, and not the first time that both fomorians and human magi had dabbled into the necromatic sort of magicks -- What with golems created of human sacrifice, and, later, Prime Minister Esras.

The records of such beings are highly guarded with secrecy, mostly known to fomorian/human creators, scholars, archmagi, secretive magi nobles, and historians, and even then some remain hidden and in older dialects of fomorian. Those who are inclined to and dedicated through using one of such may eventually learn the methodology of creating such beings.

With the Witches' Rebellion incident as of recent, most records have become more secretive, though their kind are now known to the general public thanks to the revelations of particular magi and necromancers during the inquisitorial trials. Even then, however, the Magician's Guild denies having any records of such beings.
