Name of Proposal: (Race: Fomorian, Cubi Subspecies) Vampire Section: Miscellaneous Please detail your proposal: ((As always, up to criticism and other input from anyone.)) Race Name: Vampire Average Height: In general, they are around the slightest taller than a humans. Common Skin Tones: Though oft-times born with normal hues of skin, it notedly varies; Pale when hungry, and rather deep, almost dyed crimson once fed. Most commonly porcelain, however, though there certainly are some olive and dark-skinned in particular "families". Common Hair Colors: Generally well-kept, their hair can be any color a human or fomorian may have. Common Eye Colors: Their eyes are commonly red, but there are many variances. Their pupils are odd, however, oval-shaped for the most part, though slitted when under light. They reflect much like a cat's. After feeding, their sclera turns rather red(or, black, if they went after a halfbreed), though such eventually fades. Aging Rate: While they age at the rate of a normal man, they take after cubi in that, well, feeding will allow them to retain whatever point of youth they wish to keep. Average Lifespan: Though they and their young age rather slowly, once they have begun to feed, they will stay alive until, well, being killed. They are effectively immortal, age-wise, because even those who stop feeding will simply go into a hibernative state -- until fresh blood is smelled nearby. Alliances: Rather an egotistical species, vampires see other cubi subtypes as "dirty", "impure", and "unclean", due to their... intimate methods of feeding, and how often halfbreeds of those sorts seem to pop up. Otherwise, they are pretty much entirely aligned with fomorians, though some have come out of the woodworks to ally with humans -- As "generic fomors", not vampires, however. A facade, after all, is needed, so they can feed in peace. Most Common Occupations: Dangerously good at integrating with society, vampires have been seen sometimes taking to political roles and nobility in human cities, due to their sheer charisma. Within fomorian communities, they also take to such a role, what with dealing with their own politics enough to be good candidates for such. Though many are, as well, generals if not leading their own coven, the recent lull of peace and attempts to bring humans and fomorians to peace has brought about diplomats. Defining Abilities: Despite their forms being likely lithe and certainly attractive by some level of human standards, thanks to their cubi heritage, vampires are a surprisingly, brutally strong species, with speed to match. This only seems to strengthen both when hungry, and just after feeding. They have startlingly strong claws when needed, alongside very, very sharp teeth. Both are easily hidden with glamour when in public. Like other cubi subtypes, their diet is odd. Disliking having to putrefy their bodies and blood by feeding upon humans from physical combat, the first vampires learned to drain and feed upon mana, from the blood, and convert such into their own life-force. Generally, they do such by tearing out the throat of their victim, and lapping up their blood. Very few survive such assaults, and those who do are, well, not turned, but generally feel their connection to mana far weaker. Obviously, they rather target mages, and others with a great deal of mana. They cannot feed on something non-humanoid without feeling very unfulfilled and likely vomiting up the blood. Such a sensitivity to mana comes with its weaknesses, however. Vampires are entirely unable to use magicks without completely draining themselves, at best, or possibly killing themselves with an explosion, at worst. They are exceedingly sensitive to outside fluctuations in erg, or heat, meaning simply being outside during the day could be a death sentence. Simple sun contact can lead to third-degree to possibly even fourth-degree burns, which take a deal of time and blood to heal. Fire magic, or even healing magicks, can set them alight. Most dangerously, however, is that they have a surprisingly good natural charisma to them -- Some for charm, others for getting to befriend others. Their tongues are about as silver as could be, and most able to lull one into a false sense of security. For this reason, as well, though, some take a benevolent use of such -- There have been a few vampire actors and lawyers, even. They cannot turn humans from feeding, or, well, anyone from feeding. In this case, it involves a particular ritual for such to occur, and the low success rate means this is likely only done when their numbers run low, in order to prevent inbreeding. It has only ever succeeded with fomorians, humans, or the rare halfbreed. They very much do not breed with humans, seeing them as disgusting, and one who does will likely be entirely shunned by their clansmen, and branded a heretic. There are no special abilities per coven, by the by -- perhaps different methods of fighting, yes, but no World of Darkness nonsense. Defining Physical Traits: Perhaps unsurprisingly, vampires are starkly humanoid, and fairly attractive due to their cubi predecessors. Body types may vary, true, and they do certainly need to care for their looks, but they are generally lucky in terms of body and facial structure. However, it sometimes just seems... off, really. As if they take too much effort to seem attractive. To give themselves an aura of regality and royalty, they often take to dressing akin to human and fomorian nobles, with a hint of modesty just to spite other cubi. When hungry, or sunburned, however, their facade seems to fade. What little glamour they use, an instinctual trait from being cubi descendants, disappears. This shows the fact their faces are quite truly ugly and contorted when starved, their teeth are quite dangerously sharp, nails as well. Traditional Names: A strange set, vampires generally are known for their names being formatted in a manner of (Fomorian Name) ('Human' Name) (Clan Name), with said human name being an alias of theirs. Some even take to ranks upon their coven names. Culture &History: Though of rather despairingly small numbers(About four-thousand survive currently, a rather low number in comparison to many fomorian subtypes), the pride-driven vampires have left a mark upon their kindred in some manner, shape, or form. Likely, exasperation, as even those who are known for political and strategic prowess are known for their racism, pride, and ego. Borne when a sect of cubi learned of a particular act of necromancy, the group became overflowing with disgust at humanity, over the various acts they had seen, and various acts they had to go through to simply survive. Their leader came up with another idea: A 'clean' method to feed. With two of the magi having taught the group the conversion method, it was then their species began to truly vary from others. Some integrated themselves with humans, others converted other cubi to join them, but it was obviously not without strife -- After all, pride clashes with pride. A power struggle eventually split them into... distinct groups, settling into varying areas. Though quite a few of such groups festered and died, due to a lack of new blood, very, very few remain, with most settled into fomorian civilizations, the rare few hiding among humans. |
