I always save sunday evenings for reminiscing and it does me no harm at all, in fact I have a job to stop my feet tapping. ;D

The ukelele work is brilliant.

I'm not really a pop music fan, but this recording has become a favourite of my wife...and I must admit, it is rather appealing.

Does anyone remember SRV with a blind guy called Jeff Healey?
The "blind guy* named Jeff Healey was from right here, in Toronto. He was a local musician, club mpresario and radio personality for us, locally. He played a mean blues and slide guitar ( with it sitting on his lap) . There is a strong blues scene, here ... even a sub genre oif Canadian blues performed by few dozen musicians and Healey was one of the better known ones outside Canada. Alas, he died about as decade back when the cancer that took his sight as a child, came back and took him.
If you want to see him play, he performs in a Hollywood movie with Patrick Swaze calle Road House.

OK, now somewhere along the way two days ago this song got into my head, and I have not been able to shift it since.

So if anyone has any clues how to get this out of my head, other than intrusive measures with household tools, please do leave a comment.

Interesting guy - Henry Rollins interview from the BBC HARDtalk.

'We tend to pigeonhole creative types: writer, musician, actor - they get a label. Stephen Sackur talks to a guest who defies simple description - punk is perhaps the only word that captures the spirit of Henry Rollins. He first found success in the punk band Black Flag back in the early eighties. Since then he's variously made a name as a non-conforming writer, broadcaster, actor and intrepid traveller. How hard is it to swim against the cultural tide in the United States?'

Delf - for the song; as for my tinnitus, it comes and goes, thankfully - so far - even on a 'bad day' it is just a tad bothersome.

A load of old codswallop on Question time.

QT is appallingly predictable.

If an important political question is asked the following always happens...

The Panel members follow this pattern.

The member of the Party who initiated the policy on which the question is based will say it's a great idea and is absolutely necessary.

The Opposition Party member will say it's a terrible idea and is totally unfair against such and such a group.

One panel member will make incredibly idealist (almost hippy-like) comments about the policy.

One panel member will represent the views of a random newspaper.

One panel member will make an excellent point which is summarily ignored or shouted down.

and Dimbleby will not do a lot or will talk over one of them.

The day on QT when one of the politicians actually presents their OWN views on something will be the day when hell doesn't just freeze over but actually opens as a popular skiing resort.

It's always codswallop.

Still, if the mods wish to move it, they may.

I used to love that song, as a young child, but I don't think such a looping would be fun today! At least it wouldn't be so bad if she copped an occasional break with 'They're Changing the Guard and Buckingham Palace' - another golden oldie of that date! :o

I'm a musician. I just performed Mendelssohn's Elijah with 175 others this past weekend a couple of times through after months of rehearsals. You pretty much memorize an entire oratoirio and, believe me, it rattles around in your brain for weeks. Bach is the worst. Eight part madrigal ear worms ...

Researching my treat of complete Ring on DVD. Looks like I will order the NY Met Robert Lepage version for ~£75.00 Very interesting staging on The Machine, sound is good except for Das Rheingold with Levine, he was not well with a bad back.
I have phases ranging through Beethoven to Mahler to Bruckner to light Opera even Operetta then God's Musician Bach, but back to Wagner again. Seen two complete Rings in my life one in German the other in English, but no longer have the stamina for 6-7 hours in an Opera House. However NY Met is in my Bucket List. So now I sit in front of my hifi TV with the libretto on my knee and a pause button near by. I follow in German, but can flick my eye to the English translation when the meaning is lost to me.

After that Ariadne auf Naxos and Salome will be on the screen, maybe in June.
