Once again I find myself listening to and watching the "quiet man" starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara and of course the man who keeps it all trimming along, Barry Fitzgerald.

And whoever done the casting and put Victor MacGlaglen as Danaher was a genius.

This must be at least the 50th time I have watched and enjoyed this.

I saw Seasick Steve at the Corn Exchange Cambridge.
There was too much of his son who was a 3rd rate Kurt Cobain and his niece ..who he seemed to be a bit Pervy about. Also the sound system was far too loud for the small venue.
Apart from that it was alright 😊

It was the Jools Holland programme that made me want to see him live. Great performer.

Why do we have X Factor when there are so many talented recording artists already?
I'm thinking of people like Duffy, Jessie J, and many more, Nicole Sherzinger, good voices, that only need good material.

One of my own favourite films - never tire of watching it when it regularly pops up on Telly. Loved the 'fishing scene' and the old guy on his 'death bed' being 'energised' by the fight - strict Marquis of Queensbury - not!

The theme tune, 'I'll Take You home Again, Kathleen' made a fitting background.

There's another Ken Burns documentary running on PBS America; on freeview. It is simply called "the War", and if you enjoyed his "Vietnam" documentary, this is equally as good. Well worth catching up.

Well my two lads have taken my ol' dutch into town and are treating her to a full top class restaurant Mothering Sunday Lunch, I am left with the Laundering and dog sitting (I don't mind).

I would exhort every son and daughter to listen to the following song at least once in their lives.

And very nice too, I enjoyed that immensely, I do like easy listening but I normally do that on a sunday evening when the house is quiet and I can indulge myself with my two dogs at my feet.

Here, have a short listen to the following, the two main players are seated but in reality they are dancing a musical courtship.....enjoy.

The following is one of very few films that brought tears to my cold and stoney heart, just to listen to the song, brings back such young and tender memories before I became a cynical pragmatic realist.

Everything I've seen and heard of theirs has been good. Did you see when the BBC briefly showed them at Glastonbury? (2016?)

Frank Zappa ... I'm the Slime
[backing vocals Tina Turner & The Ikettes]

I am gross and perverted
I'm obsessed 'n deranged
I have existed for years
But very little has changed
I'm the tool of the Government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you

I may be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say
I'm the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I'm the slime oozin' out
From your TV set

You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't go for help . . . no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold

That's right, folks . . .
Don't touch that dial

Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livin' room floor

I am the slime from your video
Can't stop the slime, people, lookit me go

I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livin' room floor

I am the slime from your video
Can't stop the slime, people, lookit me go

My biggest professional regret is that I couldn't convince my boss to book these guys at our theatre when we were offered a slot on their UK tour 2 years ago.

I was hooked from the the first 20 seconds of their promo reel.
