Quote:

Iain Duncan Smith’s disclosure that the teething problems have been resolved and that the Universal Credits system will be rolled out across the country ahead of the election was momentous. Many critics, not just on the Left, cheerfully predicted that Mr Duncan Smith’s welfare reforms would fail. They are now irreversible, and as a result Mr Cameron’s Coalition will be able to claim a place among Britain’s great reforming governments.

Well considered the claims made in the lefty Press, bloggers and here one would think he has not a snowball in Hell's chance of achieving that objective. We will see if he meets his milestone, but he is correct in one claim and that is no future Gov. is going to unpick this system and as a consequence he will be able to claim he inflicted the reform welcomed by the vast majority, the next step for a new Gov. must be to make further inroads against those barriers to making work always a first choice.

I do not know how you could even be motivated to declare that you had such a high IQ. Why would any sensible person do such a thing?
What motivated me was comments by you about high earners and CEOs all having high IQs which is nonsense THAT is why I mentioned my IQ of 142 because I don't accept IQ as a measure of anything useful.

Did he actually say that?
The mistake here is in interpreting such a statement as implying that all those with an high IQ are High Earners.

This does does not in any way excuse the bad behaviour that persistently makes reference to to the mention of IQ in regard of PS. Any mention of which is ignored by me .... all I see then is the pettiness of it and an offensive character.

Yes I do agree with you that someone who continually boasts about their intelligence quotient is, among other characteristics, petty and an offensive character. Certainly an alleged high IQ level is not necessarily accompanied by common sense, an open mind and a connection with reality nor of course being a High Earner!

But I don't boast about it, it is others here who assume a high IQ means something, I don't and never have. I know far too many high IQ people with a lot of educational qualifications who aren't capable of finding their own backside in the dark, if they could they would not be unemployed.

That is a lie Mr Smurf. I have never ever mentioned the IQs of such people for one simple reason I have no idea what they are. You are confusing my claim that those that have invested in education have seen their wages increase beyond inflation mainly because that there are less of them than demanded. Mer thinks you are now attempting to use the white-wash again.
Tell the truth you only mentioned your IQ, imagined or otherwise, as you though this would give you some standing here as a Debater.

In the interests of fairness, people keep teasing PS about it when he posts nonsense. I haven't read a post by PS where he appears to brag about his IQ.

Where the moderation has gone I don't know given the forum host could shut the forum down because of it.

Again, I give kudos because it has been my experience too that it has been those wanting to ridicule that have made repeated references.
Major Sinic even states that PS keeps repeating it when I have never seen him do so once until this thread.
He is not being honest - a much less tolerable trait than being a braggart, and we do have quite a few of those, don't we RJD.

Fair comment! You are right; I have jumped on a bandwagon without real justification and beyond the one IQ claim, agree that on this subject at least, PS has, quite wisely, not kept repeating it. Whatever I may think about PS as a member of this forum, I apologise with regard to this particular matter.

You have strong beliefs and are fully entitled to them Papa, and I have no doubt that you try your best to support the underprivileged in our society and do quite a lot of good in doing so. Its just that some of us see things differently to yourself.
You dont post nonsense and nobody on this board should feel that they are being threatened harrased or abused. Perhaps it is time that this thread has a line drawn beneath it.

Of course you don't, you are the self professed expert on the subject with all facts just at the end of your fingertips. I am sure that all your predictions will come to pass and that is why I have decided to invest in a national operator of Crematoria. Certainly banking on those additional 600,000+ clients between now and June next year you promised.

I must admit that I find Mr Smurf mainly polite which is very refreshing. But he is of an age that when you put yourself up as a cockshy you should expect to get pelted. It really was very silly to claim himself as having a near genius IQ without the decency of providing some substantiation. Clearly his postings here do not indicate such.

I would suggest that posters who knowingly post false data or false references are penalised. And as for those that post extolling the idea of murdering someone . . .

I am NOT complaining about being challenged. I am complaining about the constant personal insults, harassment, stalking and being ganged up on.
Which I was assured before I joined this forum would not happen because of the strict moderation necessary or the host would close the forum.

We were certainly made promises and I have to say there is far too much unpunished abuse going on and I know at times I get dragged into returning it. Maybe we need a thread on what level of moderation we want.

IMHO though Affa, RJD is far far from the worst as is that 12.32pm post (1.32 BST)

Firstly show the basis by which such welfare reforms are immoral?
Tories don't have any morals RJD so I don't understand the question.
Im a Tory party member Papa. raised a Christian with Christian values, and I think my morals are equal to your own, though my level of emotional involvement will never be the same as yours.
To accuse people who are Tories of immorality is to take a very narrow view on life itself, and taking into acount the numbers who support them or are members of the party makes the suggestion that they lack morality, irrational.
I just happen to think that individual good has to take second place to the common good, for without the one you cannot have the other.
That does not mean that considertion , care and asistance should not be given to all those in need of it, but we know from experience that the level given will never meet the needs or expectations of all.
I do not understand why you think morality can be weighed in such a way, surely it warrants some absoluteness? My claim is that the welfare reforms have a basis in morality, that the cost implications here are not paramount and as such it matters not whether this view is mouthed by a card carrying Trott or a Tory. Mr Smurf has a obligation on a debating forum to rise to the challenge and present his arguments to show that such reforms are immoral as he claims. Unfortunately he prefers to alley himself with the emotional ignoramuses, avoid the debate and seek to sully the reputations of those that do not follow his dogma. Not an unusual but none the less nasty trick we see far too often from those that wish to avoid reasoned debate.
Reasoned debate in your diatribes? I see no evidence of that. A great pity you put into practice little of what you preach.

Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
Thats just confontational without a reasoned response, the bane of these boards, as Papa has discovered. Address the post not the poster is the ideal.

The only other exaggeration I recall is your repeated claim that you are a Builder Businessman. I know know you have been saying this with your tongue firmly pressed into your cheek and in reality you are a self employed Hanger of supposed Plumbers who stick ugly foreign products on roofs in a region of England where the sun does not shine.
Me thinks that Mr Smurth both complain far too much and ought to toughen up.
Need a gas man? ;-)
No we have plenty of Cowboy Plumbers here in rural Wales.
Not surprised with all the law breaking DIY pensioners out there!

Quite, how long is the potential prison sentence for Destroy-It-Yourself gas fitting without a certificate?

Fines from the HSE start at around £400 plus costs, and the sky is the limit if you harm someone or damage property, this even applies in Wales believe it or not!
