So, what is it with the big Missy reveal last Saturday? Judging from Twitter and news comment sections, the fandom is already tearing itself apart over it. I'm reserving my judgment until we've seen the next episode. IF a convincing in-universe explanation is provided for the Master's sex change, then it's fine with me. But if it's just handwaved away with a sloppy excuse or none at all, I'll see it as nothing but a silly gimmick. |

Ta for warning, didn't look. Doctor Who is more Mrs K's thing and she's not watching last Saturday's til this weekend so it can be a one chunk sitting. So I will similarly abstain |

Speaking as a Dr Who geek, it is already established that Time Lords can change gender when they regenerate, Missy is just the first example that we have seen on screen. I'm sure that some will disregard this inconvenient fact however and foam at the mouth about PC gone mad etc so that they can maintain the delusion that they are a victim of something or other. |

OK Confession Time. I am a doctor who geek and I have not watched an episode today. Yet. I am waiting for iplayer to grab me the latest of the doctor who extras slobber slobber slobber ... Personally i thought it was a neat plot spoiler that certainly threw me off the scent. I didn't see that coming but then again Danny Pink didn't see the car either ! Anyone else think it's a bloody good job you can't libel the dead - or did you all miss the one liner about how it comes to be that Hell has wi-fi (!) |

The "fandom" will tear themselves apart over ANYTHING I have been there and seen it. The Shia and Sunni could learn a thing or two about inter-cult warfare from this bunch. |

Exactly. However, as with any other major change, for continuity's sake there should be a damn good explanation for it. |

Oh, dear. Danny Pink. IMHO this could be the best Doctor Who series since the revival, but the black spot is the Clara-Danny story. Whenever an episode focuses on their relationship, too much, quality suffers. It happened with "The Caretaker" and happened again with "Dark Water". Don't get me wrong, it could've been a great idea, but it's been very poorly executed. Intellectually, you're understand Clara's supposed to be hugely in love with Danny, but emotionally you can't help but wonder why Clara's threatening to destroy the Doctor's life for a bloke she's hanged out with a few times. If Moffatt et al. had managed to better convey their deepening relationship, it could've worked, but as it is, the less we see of Edited by D-L, Nov 5 2014, 12:24 PM.

I’m enjoying this new series. I think Peter Capaldi makes a good Doctor and I hope Jenna Coleman will continue playing Clara Oswald in future series. I like the way her character interacts with the Doctor’s, and I think she is really cute. I’m not keen on the Danny Pink thing, I don’t know if it’s the script or his acting but his character comes over as rather bland. I don’t know what Clara sees in him. |

I would echo the sentiments already expressed, Capaldi has exceeded all my already high expectations, the best Doctor since Tom Baker imo, but yes the whole Danny Pink storyline hasn't really got off the ground which is a shame, I had hoped the former soldier was going to challenge the Doctor's pacifism as was hinted at when they first met but it just hasn't panned out. Other than that though I've enjoyed it tremendously, looking forward to Saturday. |

Oh and I forgot to add did anyone else find the "don't cremate me" line genuinely disturbing? First time Doctor Who has scared me since I was a kid. |

My theory is that the Cybermen make them say that so bodies are available for cyber-conversion. Which could lead to the admittedly even more disturbing image of bodies bursting with the cyber-converted recently dead. |
