DM Honey Pot Britain was designed in from Day One. This Gov. has cut inward migration from none EU countries to the levels of 1997 and will get them down further, but from the EU-8 they are stubbornly high and rising. Why? Bloody obvious in it, it's the in work Tax Credits. Only by blocking access for a period, 1 or 2 years say, for new arrivals will we inhibit them from coming here or we can just get rid of them for everyone, see wages rise and numbers of jobs decline. You choose. |

Do these comparisons include tax credits? According to the FT if you do include these plus the rise in asset prices (property) then there has not been much of a change for decades. There is a glib acceptance that because the differences are huge then they must ipso facto be unacceptable. But on what basis? |

How better off? It is clear that consumption would increase. The consumption of imported products would increase. At a time when the settled view is that the UK needs to rebalance it's economy away from consumption and towards greater manufacturing how does such a strategy assist in achieving such an objective? Also again and again how is this to be achieved in a sustainable manner without unacceptable damage to the economy? How are you going to shift £20b PA from the top to the bottom in a sustainable manner without harm to the UK economy? Maybe by issuing Vouchers that can only be redeemed on goods manufactured in the UK? I am sure the EU would love that! |

More money in their pocket RJD, not having to make choices between heating or eating, or paying the rent and eating. People having enough to live on. It would take a hell of a lot more redistribution before it would have the dire effects you predict. |

Some see nothing at all wrong with such a wide incomes gap, even when trying to deny there is one. |

No, it just shows that there is a tendency for some wealthy countries to have a higher inequality of wealth distribution. For point two, one would need to see and understand how the present levels are achieved and maintained. |

Look at how the rich got richer, the poor got poorer, and the numbers living in r/poverty grew during 18 years of Tory mismanagement? |

I saw some top economist on TV the other day reflecting on the status quo of UK plc. He commented on the selling off of UK companies and other such enterprises to Johnny Foreigner - often at knock down prices and conditions. He also reflected on figures such as the net immigration numbers, with nearly 200,000 being quoted for the year before last and 250,000 or so for last year - and those are only the official figures for the 'legals'. Hmmn, did we manage to build the houses, and other assets normally needed for a 'city' of 450,000 in those last two years? I CAN PERCIEVE OF THE WHOLE ENTERPRISE ENDING IN TEARS AND REVOLUTION AT THIS RATE. |

Clearly you do not bother to understand details. The question I asked should not be too difficult for you to understand. |
