Farage wins by default.

Brand was out of his comfort zone with issues he knew nothing about and it showed.

Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
Here it comes,,,it's this governments fault,,,not the previous governments
Does the government(s) not make the laws then?

No hurry on this one. ;-)
The government proposes the laws and changes to them where necessary. They are debated in both Houses of Westminster, and passed or rejected by a vote of all MPs. In recent times some members of the government have opposed the proposals whilst some members of the opposition have supported them, and some in all parties abstain Nothing is passed into law unless supported by the majority.
Er.... Thanks for that, we'd never have known otherwise.

It is rather amusing that many here think that all those piles of defrauded Taxes are leaning against a shed just outside HMRC Head Offices. Muppets. Most is well beyond the reach of HMRC and to gain any access or attachment will likely require other Governments to change their Laws. By all means recruit yourself a 1,000 Jobs-worthies and ask them to twiddle their thumbs. Fortunately Osborne knows that the solution is via international cooperation.
Not really, you simply stipulate that if you do business in this country you have your base here as well and not in some tax haven, but of course that would be anti business wouldn't it? And lets face it Europhobe's keep telling us that these big companies need our business more than we need them so why isn't Osbrowne doing anything about it?

It is an entirely deliberate ploy and cuts no ice with anyone except the usual self deceivers.

Germany asking for their gold back is also interesting.
Yep.

They were only given a few bars back and the serial numbers on the bars did not match any which were on the bars originally handed over by the Germans.

Puppets.
I bet the Germans end up buying some of their own gold back from the Chinese.

Someone has had to pay for Americans to have dangerous toys and knockoff electronics.

Lots of Officer's Mess stuff on here ........ or Captain's table conversation ...... "Brand maybe rich, but he's still a commoner". "Not one of us".

Yep, Class War ended years ago and what a stupid war that was. I have a lot of respect for those who have both money AND a social conscience, because they could easily pull up the drawbridge and not give a fig, like so many others do.

Brand does not speak for me. Of course not all politicians and bankers are corrupt, that would be ridiculous. But he is right to call them out, to look at their own actions and the consequences that follow.

Farage and Brand both represent opposite extremes of the disenfranchised in the UK. I was surprised that immigration was not so such a hot topic for discussion on that programme.

And to answer Mary's question about why Brand doesn't stand for election. Why should he. He has positioned himself as to be on the outside looking in. A very comfortable position to be in, admittedly. So much easier there to throw rocks and run away.

But he is right about Farage. Watch him. He too sells himself as someone who attacks the political elite. But if he ever got in a position of real power he will just be part of the same elite he claims to attack.

As the line says, Here comes the new boss. Same as the old boss. But just an extreme version of what we got now.

Can anyone who watched question time actually say that Brand put forth any sort of argument against other panel members other than ad homs/insults?

he reminds me of a member of this forum.

I have forgotten more than you will ever learn, but then blinkers are always going to be difficult to see anything other than one view, best have a word with your jockey, Mr Millibore.

Those are hardly facts, are they ? They are just an expression of your opinion couched in a personal way.

My goodness. Hey Mr Greek if you want to set up your merchant marine business in Liverpool please don't for get that we are not a Tax Haven. The subject is about recovering that which rightfully belongs to HMRC not pious platitudes.

Brilliant, I felt quite sorry for Jo.

I bet Bland wouldn't have shown up without a film crew in tow.

I read the report where upon asking how much bonuses were paid, the security guard asked how much tax did he pay, he went very quiet.

It is opinionated and from the outset with one purpose. Clever, and more amusing than Brand generally is. I'd enjoy being witness to round two ....... face to face, nose to nose.
