An excellent bit of research by the Tax Avoiders Alliance (TaxPayer's Alliance,) which is carrying a message I suspect they did not intend:- http://www.taxpayersalliance.com/new_research_tax_and_benefit_distribution Taxes •The poorest households paid an average of 47 per cent of their gross income in taxes, the highest percentage of any income group |

That sort of outburst really does not help your case at all. You insist on using the severe pejorative of alleged telling lies when at best all you have ever shown if IDS et al may have made statements in error or even some that they could not prove (using published data) to your satisfaction were 100% true What you did post that really rings true is the example of what seems to be many where the DWP makes a mistake, cuts benefit and hasn't got the square root of sod all mechanism to promptly rectify it. A quite appalling mixture of incompetence and callous disregard and yes does suggest the Tories are unfit for office. I suggest that's the charge you should persist with, you'll get far more support. |

IDS DOES tell lies. He has stated many times in the House of Commons and to the Work and Pensions committee, "There are no targets for benefit sanctions." Really Mr Duncan Smith:-

Doesn't prove he was anything other than he was mistaken. IIRC what he said was "There are no targets, there will be no targets and anybody caught imposing a target will themselves be dealt with." He told MPs: "There are no targets for any sanctions whatsoever," and said the head of Jobcentre Plus would send a reminder to staff emphasising that. http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2013/mar/22/iain-duncan-smith-jobcentres-benefits Perhaps what you don't understand is that senior officials in all government departments have two bosses. The official line to the secretary of state and the unofficial and very strong one to the Treasury that they have to keep happy if they want careers. I've no doubt those targets were set but was IDS even told? Frankly I see IDS as such a dimwit he may well have and plain forgotten. |

He has stated it several times over a longish period of time even after he was forced by Anne Begg to see a whistle blower who works for JCP who stated that targeting was taking. The Whistle blower would NOT go through the usual channels with their complaint, they wanted a face to face with IDS so he could not say he didn't know. You can rant at me all you like IDS is a blatant serial liar. |
