I read in the Times today a number of reports of papers released under the thirty year rule ......
And there wasn't much to get excited about at all ....... nothing at all controversial imo, except perhaps Mrs Thatcher's desire to curb what she saw as the critical elements (of her policies) from the BBC. Much like today, the Tories don't like criticism and their response as always is to censure it.
Has anyone else seen or heard of any new releases - thus far I find it silly to imagine why these papers were kept hidden. There must be lots more that remain secret that could stir up a hornets nest.
Documents do go missing, get lost, vanish, as we now know from the paedophile ring and evidence that can no longer be traced.

Don't you have a nagging feeling that some papers don't get released even after 30 years?
Swept under the rug to be forgotten by history...

A shame I probably won't be around when some of those papers that are covered by a hundred year rule are released, I was rather looking forward to why a lot of cabinet correspondence from 1940 was held back after being earmarked for release.

From 29 onwards, starting at 'economy', I can see no reason at all why the thirty year none exemption is not allowed to apply. How can thirty year old policy decisions on the economy jeopardise either National security or International relations?

The Public are INTERESTED.

Nobody ever heard of "redaction"?

If "they" don't want it out, with names named, it won't happen.

Because it gives the person who screwed up time to die, so it won't matter, and the public can't have a Formosus moment.
