Immigrants could decide General election

On BBC TV News this morning at about 9-10am, so you can look for yourself, they announced that a research group claimed that the next general election could be decided by immigrants, meaning not British born, but on the electoral roll.
They named two London boroughs, where this could apply , and would vote Labour, and three or more cities in England where they could vote for immigrant candidates.
If it has been reported correctly, it seems that our countries destiny will no longer be in our hands, and the General election will be decided by immigrants. It will be interesting to see the list of candidates when they are announced.
It is Likely that Cameron has delayed the referendum on the EU until the numbers are stacked in his favour, that is to in favour of remaining in the EU

I had a bad experience once when a nurse who couldnt understand English was told to prick my boil.

Yes; English can be confusing to some that generally put the verb after the noun.

Indeed. Another encounter with poor English speaking nurse ( which is actually true) . An African one asked whether I was requesting that she kill my mother when I asked her to ensure she wasnt suffering( on her death bed).

A couple of hours ago I learned on Radio 4 that there are more fraudulent doctors than qualified ones in India, and of course from time-to-time they get past our own 'screening'. Much like illegal immigrants those numbers can only be 'guessed' at.

gansao - Yeh, did she stick it in an autoclave? Ouch!
Funniest ''doctor's'' sign I ever came across was in Tunisia..

He was advertising ''dentistry and gynecology''... 8-)

.
Same thing really, operating through a narrow opening.

You can't get a GP appointment for 3 months,,,where do you live about
That wasn't what I said...I said if you want an English doctor..they are full up..and to make an appointment with them..there is a 3 months waiting list..I can see an African doctor the same day!!

What are you saying the chart tells us?
How low the basic state pension is in Britain compared with other countries..
Yes but that's because so many contract out in the UK. You have to compare the state pensions compared to contributions

We already established that the UK state pension is way above what is a fair payout based on contributions made for it. It is in effect a tax on the rich to buy the votes of those who didn't make proper provision for their old age
Many people have opted out since Mrs T told us, around 1990, that future state pensions would not suffice.

No..people just want a doctor that can understand them...know what to prescribe..unfortunately people do not write to the local newspaper as that would be perceived as racism..

And you must know what happens to racists??

Let's see, Immigrants with votes.

In order to have a vote, they must have permanent residence, permission to stay, a job, taxes, a NINO and British Citizenship in most cases. They're not immigrants, they're British Citizens who have the right to vote whichever way they choose.

Facts like these ^ are wasted on some people.

"Foreigners" are not welcome by some right wing retards.
You are both being rather selective in your comments here, chaps. Commonwealth citizens, from any one of the 54 member states can register on the electoral roll upon arrival in the UK as long as they have an address. But that address need not be permanent, nor do they even have to reside full time in the UK, or hold British citizenship. According to Migration Watch UK there will be more than one million Commonwealth citizens who do not have British citizenship with the right to vote in the next election. For example, a student visitor from a Commonwealth country planning to study for six months would be allowed to enrol on the electoral register and vote in a parliamentary election if one was held during the duration of his or her stay. Surely even you would have to agree that on the face of things, this is an absurdity?

The 2011 census data shows that there are 960,000 Commonwealth citizens who do not have British citizenship living in England and Wales but who have the right to vote. This total includes only those who, in 2011, were over the age of 15 and who therefore would be eligible to vote in 2015, Migration Watch UK said. Now you might sneer at Migration watch...in fact, you probably will. But they have been far more accurate in telling it like it is that any of the main parties. So the original poster has a point. Migrants could well influence the outcome of the next election, without living here permanently, or holding citizenship.

Funny old world, isn't it?
Oh, so all of as sudden it's changed from "immigrants" will decide the election to worries about Commonwealth Citizens and others influencing the result.

It's been exactly the same since WWII that we have allowed virtually anyone with a residential address who is not subject to any immigration control to have a vote in the UK elections.

So what is different about the coming farce in May?

Further, do you really think that this minute number of folk who are here for short stays, temporary visits etc., are really going to bother to get themselves a residential address, THEN register with the Local Authority, and THEN bother to vote in an election because they can?

What nonsense.

So what? You are likely to get the son of Adolphe Milliband as your next PM who has Polish Jewish Belgian bits of paper that are part of his ID. If they pay their taxes and meet the requirements for voting as defined by HM Gov. then I do not see the problem.

When I was 15, my GP was a Dr. Biswas who treated me for some ailment that I had, and no, I didn't understand a word he said to me because of his heavy Pakistani accent.

20 years later, that same man was a surgeon who fixed a Galeazzi fracture that I acquired after coming off my motorbike. It's what happens when you think your arm will stop your head from hitting the ground.

Thanks to his skill with steel plate and a De Walt cordless drill, I was paying guitar again after 2 months.

The surgeon that did an emergency Carotid Endarterectomy on me in 2012 was also foreign-born.

I have no problem whatsoever with foreign-born doctors.

Who cares if he is black, white or kaki or born in Chicakerferka, surely it is his knowledge and skills that are important. Clearly one of those skills needs to be good communication abilities as he needs to understand his patients and also advise them as to the best course of action. I don't care if his hand is black as long as it is steady when he holds the knife.

If your claim that immigration i.e. being a member of the EU is destroying the British character then you need to look at the individuals who recommended the EU become a reality, and who took us into the EU. IIRC that would be Winston Churchill and Edward Heath.
We voted to be part of a common market, There has never been a referendum on becoming membership of the EU or its centralised EU government. has there?
I'm told the aims of the Common Market have not changed.
We have not had a referendum on the aims of the common market, They have just crept up on us by subterfuge and deceit.
The more we become acquainted with them the more the objections seem to grow.
Heath was one of the many who hid the agenda.

I sort of cannot escape thinking that it is the Wealthiest 1% that will continue to determine election results - as they have been for generations now.

I can't escape thinking that as a direct result of the FPTP system, most seats in this country return an MP whose majority is weighed, rather than counted, and that as a result, "the wealthiest 1%" who live in a handful of select areas in a few select constituencies make about as much difference to the result as a tory voter in blaenau gwent, or a welsh nationalist in high wycombe.

The result of the last half dozen elections have been decided in a handful of marginals by a tiny fraction of the population, and if you are seriously telling me the combined income and assets of ANY of those voters comes anywhere near the residents of (say) sandbanks ... i say you need to think again

That is rather missing the point, you simply bribe your way into politics to get what you want, if you have a spare £50k knocking about you can join the Tories Elite Dining Club and get to have drinks and regular meetings with David Cameron and senior cabinet members, presumably they do not talk just about the weather or what a nice frock Samantha is wearing.

This time last year the Mail reported that some £40m+ had been raised by this cynical and in my opinion utterly corrupt practice.

Don't vote for your politicians, just buy them.

The problem is..there are too many of them here..I can be polite..they work well..but they are here to pillage our benefit system!!

When they first came over..they had to work 2 years before they got benefits..I could have timed them on my watch..bad backs...next week they were on disability benefit..the same time they were seen working in a car wash..£5 a throw..

Council estates like Krakow..then they started to breed..working for 2 months..getting pregnant..having 2 years off whilst being paid..go back to work..pregnant again...Kerching..

But I do suppose having a free vote on a politician is better than having one installed by a union.

On your knees again I see Rich? Perhaps you should invest in some knee pads?

If your master will allow you them of course. ;-)
