Immigrants could decide General election

On BBC TV News this morning at about 9-10am, so you can look for yourself, they announced that a research group claimed that the next general election could be decided by immigrants, meaning not British born, but on the electoral roll.
They named two London boroughs, where this could apply , and would vote Labour, and three or more cities in England where they could vote for immigrant candidates.
If it has been reported correctly, it seems that our countries destiny will no longer be in our hands, and the General election will be decided by immigrants. It will be interesting to see the list of candidates when they are announced.
It is Likely that Cameron has delayed the referendum on the EU until the numbers are stacked in his favour, that is to in favour of remaining in the EU

I can't escape thinking that as a direct result of the FPTP system, most seats in this country return an MP whose majority is weighed, rather than counted, and that as a result, "the wealthiest 1%" who live in a handful of select areas in a few select constituencies make about as much difference to the result as a tory voter in blaenau gwent, or a welsh nationalist in high wycombe.

That is rather missing the point, you simply bribe your way into politics to get what you want, if you have a spare £50k knocking about you can join the Tories Elite Dining Club and get to have drinks and regular meetings with David Cameron and senior cabinet members, presumably they do not talk just about the weather or what a nice frock Samantha is wearing.

This time last year the Mail reported that some £40m+ had been raised by this cynical and in my opinion utterly corrupt practice.

Don't vote for your politicians, just buy them.
But I do suppose having a free vote on a politician is better than having one installed by a union.
On your knees again I see Rich? Perhaps you should invest in some knee pads?

If your master will allow you them of course. ;-)
Grow up and debate otherwise Fxxk off and bother someone else that will spout what YOU want to hear.

I'm guessing here that a wealthy tax dodging politician bribing plutocrat is missing a lapdog.

I sort of cannot escape thinking that it is the Wealthiest 1% that will continue to determine election results - as they have been for generations now.

The result of the last half dozen elections have been decided in a handful of marginals by a tiny fraction of the population, and if you are seriously telling me the combined income and assets of ANY of those voters comes anywhere near the residents of (say) sandbanks ... i say you need to think again

We are given a choice of candidates every five years - but who selects those we are given for our choice.
The system does, and that system ensures that the establishment, the realm of power, remains in situe.

When it sees danger, the threat of popular resistance, it acts to negate that threat (BNP) ..... it is not democracy in the true sense, but uses the democratic process, corrupts it. to prevent any challenge.
It is as you say the FPTP method of choice that allows for it.
Method - example. The press, and if there is a none-conforming press that through its editorial-ship starts to tell it as is is, and exposes the propaganda ....... then simple. The paper is bought out.put under new more malleable ownership - until there are no real dissenters, only the token semblance of it.

Lots if letters to my local paper and am sure it's all over the country,,is sent in anonymous or name with held,
Not seeing a doctor they want for 12 weeks would be all over my local paper,,
Ok numnuts.would they write to a newspaper and say ''I can see an African or Asian doctor''..

How come I can't see a white English doctor, who knows what I am talking about??

You know as well as I do, this would be classed as racism

Do I trust these foreigners or should I be concerned that they are prescribing medicines that they may have a personal interest in?
Why not complain if you feel strongly about it,,you obviously do as you moan about foreigners every time your on this forum
Just how many foreigners/immigrnts do we need as is so often claimed , the skills or otherwise that we need, liker Doctors, dentists, nurses ,care home workers bus drivers, even workers to pick crops or curry house chefs.?
A million or two at a maximum, with their spouses?

Then why do we have ten millions or more than we actually need, with more coming daily? The claim made by Labour and the Liberals that we need them in their millions and why needs examining.
What we do need is border controls., and work permits, with enforced repatriation, if necessary.

We voted to be part of a common market, There has never been a referendum on becoming membership of the EU or its centralised EU government. has there?
I'm told the aims of the Common Market have not changed.
We have not had a referendum on the aims of the common market, They have just crept up on us by subterfuge and deceit.
The more we become acquainted with them the more the objections seem to grow.
Heath was one of the many who hid the agenda.
I think it is the understanding of the original intentions that have crept up on people.

That's better, so we know you can do it. ;D
Urban myth or not, the sentiments match mine, so as an expression of opinion, no matter who wrote it, it has an influence, and gains responses, and generates individual thought
.Just because you don't it does not mean it is not a valid point of view even if biased.
BTW thank you for voting to remain part of the UK, and isn't it a pity that the oil prices didn't drop to their present level before the Scottish referendum? Its bound to have an effect on the GE, to the Scottish Nationalists disadvantage and to the advantage of the party that will improve the economy.
One people, one culture, one common identity and purpose, is so much better than a nation fragmented and divided by religions language. individual identity, and vested interests, don't you think?

On BBC TV News this morning at about 9-10am, so you can look for yourself, they announced that a research group claimed that the next general election could be decided by immigrants, meaning not British born, but on the electoral roll.
Females could decide the outcome of the election, it is claimed that the female vote brought Mrs T to office and kept her there. :(

Yup.

My mother voted for Thatcher the first time round on the basis that "she couldn't do any worse than the men", and then she spent the next 20 years regretting it.

You mean the female vote could decide, if they are allowed to vote for themselves, and have the free choice to do so. especially with the postal vote, where the decision is made by the master of the household.

"One people, one culture, one common identity and purpose, is so much better than a nation fragmented and divided by religions language. individual identity, and vested interests, don't you think ......... splutter ......... "
You could just say 'yes' or 'no' Affa, that you agree or disagree.
How about another bigoted poem from Kipling. Its all grist for the mill, and an opportunity to further condemn.

BTW, How many viewings has this thread had? ::)

Oh I agree all right ......... my thought though was that the author of it very clearly (to me) does not.
Divisive is a frequently used description of the policies of the Party you support.

Hammer away and educate me, not keep trying to insult or abuse me. Its getting tiresome and against the board rules.
Address your own problems before addressing mine please.
Well as you ask, here be educated

It was not by an Aussie PM but is a falsified adaption of a rant by a US veteran Barry Loudermilk just after 9/11

I suggest google the first line of any quote you rely on that seems so good to you, that will so often show you that the provenance you were led to believe it had was a lie by someone who is so happy to have conned you.

It was picked at random from Google. Whoever said it what's your opinion on it?
The bit about it's a good idea to adjust is OK, the bit about forcing religion down children's throats totally abhorrent. All in all it's a xenophobes angry rant by Loudermilk. a real life embodiment of the Python bigot sketch with that "tolerance is a great British virtue, let's not waste it on foreigners".

That's better, so we know you can do it. ;D
Urban myth or not, the sentiments match mine, so as an expression of opinion, no matter who wrote it, it has an influence, and gains responses, and generates individual thought
Just because you don't it does not mean it is not a valid point of view even if biased.
That is unacceptable in an honest debate for the simple reason you presented the story as fact and the blindingly obvious intention of that piece is to hoodwink the hard of thinking. You duly obliged.

And it does not stimulate thought either in it's intended audience, because you yourself have offered irrefutable evidence that YOU fell for this piece of yellow journalism, it appealed to your very obvious prejudice's and you fell for it hook, line and sinker.

Please don't try this again on those of us who really can think for ourselves. :)
