This seems to be Labours route this week, slightly hypocritical of course given the holes blown in the tax code by Brown and Blair in their attempts to woo corporates, but given the Tories well known views it seems to me to be a good direction to head, and what is all this nonsense about crown depdency's refusing to co operate with the home nation? |

Are you sure about that or are you just kidding yourself again? It has certainly caused a political storm and none of these revelations are exactly new, I suspect Milliband and his spin doctors have weighed up the pro's and con's on this and come to the conclusion more mud will stick on the Tories rather than his lot, and after all as someone else keeps reminding us if something happens on your watch it's up to you, ie the present government, to do something about it. And I think most of us know the Tories will do a little as possible because they are onto a hiding to nothing on this subject. Forget the window cleaner who does cash in hand that's old hat now and lets concentrate of the millionaire who thinks that tax is only for little people like you Rich............. |

I would have thought that failure to pay tax on income is just as illegal for window cleaners as it is for a rich man. Why forget him? The truth is people have tried, legally or illegally to avoid paying taxes ever since taxes have been levied. There is nothing new about it. |

Have any of you apologists asked the simple question? "why is it important that those making a lot of money do pay the due amount of taxes"? Go on, try and find a good reason for it not being important. Money in overseas tax havens is money lost to our economy .... the window cleaner doesn't hive his few shilling away, he spends it here. |

The correct answer is not going to be easy to admit ..... it sort of forces apologists to realise that their efforts at making economic sense just made hypocrites of them, and the Tory party as a whole. Edited by Affa, Feb 12 2015, 12:03 AM.
