Does anyone remember the ''Pools Man''coming round the door on Thursday?

I think it was Littlewoods..

And when the results came up at 5 on a Saturday afternoon..no-one dared speak while your Dad was checking his coupon??.. ;D

six out of ten correct results is good considering neither Chelsea or Arsenal lived up to ratings ... this week will be a lot harder ........ quite a few draws maybe, and some close scores. Almost every game can go either way - the odds are pretty even for near all of them. Liverpool to win is the only matchup where I feel confident.

So a bit of research and even though Littlewoods etc are no more the pools do still exist but online

I'll give it a miss

I recall those times - but dad wasn't quite that stern come checking time. I remember him showing me how to fill in and check and score the results - I was about 7-8 at the time. By the time I was 9 we were sailing off to Hong Kong, and the Pools had to go on hold for 3.5 yrs..

I think he was stern because he was convinced that one day he'd hit the jackpot...(bit like lottery fever!)..

One week he made me and my brother fill it out..and when it lost..he told both of us we were ''hopeless.. ;D

1 home win out of seven so far ....... I had told that these fixtures were difficult to predict.
It's not often that away wins outnumber home wins ...... and we haven't done yet.
