Great quotes

On D Cameron:

"He stands for nothing... It's like getting passionate about a blancmange"

On the UK:

"The UK is finished......The next history books will be written in Chinese."

!jk!

I never thought I'd see myself agreeing with this guy, but there you go.

The bit about the Tories being like the SWP is also funny.

Were I walking by The White Horse in Oxford, I would cross the road to avoid Peter Hitchens if I saw him coming.

Good interview.

I especially liked the comments about his brother.

I prefer his early work. He was brilliant as Parker in Thunderbirds.

Loved every minute of Hitchens. But who is this fuckwit Jones and why the fuck should I care what his reasons for interviewing people with something to say are ...

Jones seems little better than the jerk who on completing his degree in how to make videos was forced to dance for his job filling shelves at Curry's

Who's paying his salary again ?

Best quote was his take on Marxism/Leninism. Admitting that in his younger days he was a committed member of the International Socialist movement, who felt Marxism/Leninism was the solution to pretty much all the world's problems, his take n that now loking back was that it was a pretty reasonable mistake to make for one in their youth and that his stance now, in his own words, is that "Unlike people who have been VACCINATED against the disease, I've actually HAD the disease and am therefore totally immune from it in a way a mere vaccination couldn't possibly be"

His take on Corbyn: BECAUSE B;lair and Mandelson shout fromthe rooftops that he is not the man for the job, he is exactly the man to whom the job should be given.

I'm not sure why Heinrich makes reference to the Uffington White Horse, but while he walks by on the other side of the road, I shall be sitting outside this establishment

http://www.uffingtonpub.co.uk/

.. and after listening to this, I'd be calling to Hitchens and offering him a pint ...

Who's paying his salary again ?

Well given the books he has had published, writing a column in two national newspapers, numerous TV appearances, plus lectures, I suspect he gets a tad more than the minimum wage.

really ?

never heard of him. Heard of Hitchens of course, he was feted by the tosspot who ran the NOISS at cardiff uni, who heled UCC get the lowest score made on university challenge, his contribution to the total being his suggestion that the only part of an elephant that was without hair was its rectum ...

He appears on the BBC, writes drivel in the Gruaniad and is the darling of the Public Sector Unions. I think Corbyn likes him. Enough said.

Owen's interviews are quite interesting no matter whether you agree with him or not. At least he doesn't shout people down, he tries to establish their opinion.

As for him compares to Hitchens, well they both THINK they represent the outer fringes of mainstream politics. To me they're both pretty centrist.

I read Hitchen's Sunday column regularly, and mostly agree with everything he says. He won't appeal to the lefties amongst us...but I guess I can live with that!

While having tea in the White Horse, Oxford, I was told the opinionated crank, Peter Hitchens, is often to be seen in the area.

Ah well that explains it.

I have not watched newsnight since paxo called it a day, and ever since I spent an evening as a member of the audience of question time and saw for myself how it works i haven't bothered watching that rigged circus either.

I have it on good authority, perhaps the same crank, that Hitchens was seen talking to Elvis Presley in the Supermarket just around the corner from The White Horse Inn. Yes Josepha Vogelhuber is still the proprietress. Heinrich no doubt visits to perfect his yodelling techniques.

Good call newsnight is absolute sh** now

I'm not a huge fan of Owen either, but he has his moments just as r-w ideologues do too.
