Who is going to rid us of this public school Mafia?

The latest bollocks is a report in several newspapers that quotes an unnamed army general who has apparently said that the armed forces would depose a democratically elected Corbyn government, although sacking thousands of much needed armed forces bods and flogging off various bits of military hardware is not an offence that would induce a coup d' etat, identify this cock in uniform and at the very least fire him.

I cannot be the only one on here who is getting pissed off with the shrill and not very subtle warnings coming from our increasingly corrupt and out of touch establishment?

No, I hadn't. Thanks for posting that Papa'

Sooo... that being the case.. why isn't the British Army called the Royal Army ?
Doesn't the British Army date its foundation to the raising of the New Model Army by Parliament against the King during the Civil War?
Not sure. I know the New Model Army was a nationwide replacement for the previous system which started out as each nobleman nominated by William the Bastard being charged with raising an army under his command for the defence of the realm and placing it at the disposal of the King, which got rather corrupted, but what happenned when Charles II came back, what was the fate of the New Model Army then. Serious question, to which I have no idea what the answer is and no time to look it up I have to rush off duty and the day job that just became a night one too calls ...... 'scuse me have to SCRAMBLE !!

It was a New Model Army Colonel, Monck, who restored Charles II to the throne.

Whilst Charles II disbanded the New Model Army upon restoration, Monck's regiment survived as the Coldstream Guards.

But what type of General? I'm guessing Lieutenant General which sounds impressive but is only a 2 Star rank

I've got a better idea

Since you dragged me into this bloody thread in which I had no interest why don't I just take the story head on ...

The words from the article in The Times said "A senior serving general"

Right then.

Send for a witchfinder, start at the bottom of this list, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_British_Army_full_generals drag any of them who ever wore a uniform in Northern Ireland to the tower and waterboard the buggers until they confess, and take Murdoch there and do the same ...

That'll get to the bottom of it.

Seems like double standard posting can become habit forming.
A "Senior General" implies a high ranking General to most that will read it ......

What you ignored was the relevant comment comment that corrected the false summation that this army brass wasn't worthy of note.

Who said he wasn't of note? Even a 2 star Lt General carries a fair weight as a senior rank but a 3 or 4 star would be really worth taking note of.

And I still bet this is only a 2 star
