Worst October Borrowing Figures Since 2009 The Chancellor's annual target may be raised next week as borrowing in October exceeded estimates by more than £2bn. Figures confirming the highest level of Government October borrowing for six years have placed greater pressure on George Osborne, ahead of key spending announcements next week. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said public sector net borrowing, excluding the effects of bank bailouts, rose last month by £1.1bn on the same month last year to £8.2bn. Economists had been predicting a figure of £6bn. It meant borrowing was at its highest October level since 2009 - pressuring the Chancellor's official borrowing target of £69.5bn for the financial year to April 2016. http://news.sky.com/story/1591252/worst-october-borrowing-figures-since-2009 |

I was told today by my accountant that the better off will most likely be forced to pay more tax by Osborne, and when I say better off I'm talking about the top 20-25% of earners who earn in excess of 45k pa, and not the seriously rich, however he also expects the Chancellor to make it easier to use a tax planner or put the money legally beyond the reach of HMRC. The plan is Osborne can crow about raising more tax but knows full well that the act of raising it will encourage more people to find ways to avoid it, end result less tax collected. I have no proof of this but will drag this thread up at a future date if what I have been told proves to be correct. |
