Unfortunately, he is totally electable because the average American voter has the I.Q. of a rabbit. This is another portent of the coming apocalypse. Trump is the perfect Putin/anti-Putin. They have so much in common, are so much alike that they'll end up declaring war on each other. ( Maybe, you'll get a chance to launch your Tridents! Hot Diggity! I feel safer, already!) She's wife # 3 , btw and neither of the others were Librarians , front line feminists nor tenured professors, either. (This one must be true love, until her butt sags anyway) Anyway, the Republicans are telling us that there was no plaigerism, that it is petfectly natural that fairly complex English expressions emerge spontaneously in dofferent speeches An infinite number of Republicans with an infinite number of typwriters ... I would enjoy the clown show more if I didn't consider the outcome do be so important to the contiuence of civilization ... maybe, vertibrate life, even. Edited by Curious Cdn, Jul 19 2016, 11:14 PM.

Strange that the people in the US seem to laugh at Canadians for being thick a Canadian laughs at the average voter of the most powerful and richest country in the history of mankind for being thick . The fact is that Trump has come along with the right rhetoric at the right time. The average US voter is sick of stagnating wages, outsourcing industry and ' trade deals' that shaft them. They know Clinton will continue it and they are looking for a' strong man' to speak for them. Noam Chomsky has expressed concern over this . He lived in the time when Germany went from one of the most sophisticated and cultured societies into a murderous monster in a generation . |

Well I did read somewhere that Ronald Reagan's ( someone who has many parallels with the Trump so far) wife Nancy did the best blow job in Hollywood. She was also a bit of a fruitcake too. IIRC Pierre Trudeau's missus was a bit of a shagger too

Noam Chomsky is a smart guy. Btw, very few Americans would think of us as thick because very few would think of us, at all. We're "up there, somewhere" and relatively few Americans know us well enough to conclude that we are thick. |

Trump is not without his faults, but he is the only person who ran for president other than Rand Paul who does not advocate a needlessly antagonistic stance with regard to Russia. Putin is not the Devil incarnate. Why western leaders, who cosy up to Saudi Arabia and many other not particularly pleasant governments, seem to always want to pick a fight with Putin I do not know. Putin passes a law which places some frankly not very severe restrictions on gay advocacy groups, and every Western leader wants to posture over the issue, but have nothing to say when the Saudis execute homosexuals. Putin is blamed for provoking the migrant crisis by bombing ISIS (as opposed to say, Western governments killing off Gadafi and arming "rebels" in Syria, or Germany inviting all comers), yet its the Saudis who bank roll ISIS, and will not take in a single refugee even with 3 million empty tents and a shared heritage with the refugees attract no criticism. Putin runs corrupt elections, but he very likely would win even a fair election, whereas Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy. No prizes for guessing who our leaders want to criticise. Among Western politicians, Trump stands out as one of the few who does not appear to apply a blatant double standard against Russia, and he strikes as somewhat less likely to end up in a nuclear war with Russia than the alternative, not that I think this outcomes is likely either way. As for your unrelenting contempt for all things American, it would be worth noting that the average IQs of the USA and Canada are barely distinguishable: https://iq-research.info/en/page/average-iq-by-country Edited by Matthew Brady, Jul 20 2016, 09:47 PM.

Here is a fun, little aside about the Republican convention that has nothing at all to do with sex. To set the stage, the US has many do-calked "Militias" that are a cross between gun clubs/ biker gangs/Mad Max's Road Warriors/Central American death squad wannabees/ Ernst Rohm's Brown Shirts. They "Patrol the borders" ... arned ... keeing out all of the terrorist. They periodicslly patrol our border with them The Minuteman Militia was operating in Vermont some years back snd the local Vermonters sent them packing, right quick. Mostly, they operate down in the Southwest desert where the lucky ones, I suppose, might get to shoot a Mexican dead. Anyway, all of those vigilante militias are one of the demographics that the Trump campaign wants to attract. Cleveland: Ckeveland is a rusting dump with an extraordinarily high crime and murder rate. It is a post -industrial nightmare that is, like Detroit, shrinking rapidly as their raison d'etre has slipped away forever. I In Ohio, you are allowed "open carry" , that is, you can openly carry firearms on your person, there and automatic weapons are perfectly acceptable and legal to own, there. So, check out the slide show of the Militians that have turned up for the Republican National Convention as they patrol the streets of Cleveland to keep them safe for the flag and freedom. http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/photos/guns-at-the-republican-national-convention/ss-BBuylHO?li=AAggv0m&ocid=AARDHP#image=1 Remember, these are private citizens, not security personnel. And what is the source of the "extraordinarily high crime and murder rate" in Cleveland? Doubtless its the white militiamen in the slideshow. Nothing to do with being a majority black city I am sure. Ditto with respect to Detroit. Edited by Matthew Brady, Jul 20 2016, 10:15 PM.

The "source"of it? widespread lawlessnes and decay in a country that is crumbling into anarchy, is my guess. Here is the murder rate in Cleveland: 16.2 per 100,000 population https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_crime_rate_(2014) I live on the edge of the connurbation around Toronto called the GTA or Greater Toronto Area.It is now the fourth largest city in North America after Mexico City, Los Angeles, and New York. The morder rate here is: 1.34 per 100,000 population http://www.citynews.ca/2015/04/20/toronto-homicide-rate-compared-with-other-canadian-cities-2/ Which is 1/12 th that of Cleveland.. I havent looked it up but it wouldn't surprise me if the murder rate in Greater London were about 1/25th that of Cleveland. This is not new. Thr United States has alwsys been a violent place, always more violent than Canada or Britain. It is accerleating as the cities crumble, the Middle Class disappear and the poor become marginalized until they are right outside of the system, completely (They don't count the fifty milion or so completely outside the system when they calculate unemployment rates jn the US. They are MUCH higher than as published) Edited by Curious Cdn, Jul 20 2016, 10:39 PM.

You are getting very hung up on race Matthew, so I have a topical joke you may like. A local golf course got some special chrome plated robots to mow the greens as they were more reliable than humans, the only problem was they glinted too much when it was sunny thus putting off the members. The golf club replaced them with black robots. That did not last long and they soon returned to using the chrome versions, the reason? The black robots started robbing the members. America is not a particularly lawless country. It has a higher murder rate, but for many categories of crime, they have lower rates of crime than those found in the UK. With regard to murder, it is not incidental that America has a 13% black population that commits 50% of the murders. As for Toronto, rather than the greater Toronto area, its black population is 8.5% and its murder rate is 3.3 per 100%. Lets compare that to Cleveland stats: 53% black and 16.2 per 100,000. 16.2/3.3 = 4.9. 53.3/8.5 = 6.3. Its not an exact match, but the proportions are fairly similar. More generally, the correlation between the percentage of the population that is black and the murder rate is around 0.8, a remarkably strong correlation, and this is only looking at urban areas, so black criminality is not being exaggerated by the fact that they tend to be concentrated in cities and compared to whites who disproportionately live in rural areas. The correlation would be significantly stronger if not for the fact that nearly 30% of black men between the ages of 18-29 are imprisoned, and those are disproportionately the most criminally inclined young black men for obvious reasons. http://www.ronunz.org/2013/07/20/race-and-crime-in-america/ Edited by Matthew Brady, Jul 21 2016, 05:23 AM.

Black people in America playing the race card? Such libellous things you write. Though that does seem to be an issue in America, if they want this harmonious nation, everyone needs to drop these issues which many currently didn't experience, it causes the divides which they say they disagree with. I thought Trump's family was pretty good. I just see Trump as a guy that knows how to ignite the common man, also he does not seem that bad, basically wants controlled immigration, but somehow racist, wants protectionism when it comes to trade, which many in America want, but left-wing and right-wing. By the looks of it also remove pax-america, no longer war mongering around the world. The Democrats, funnily enough just seem to be the same old same, except maybe Bernie, hence the infighting, also they're plain boring. Though if I being honest both parties practically the same, we going down the same path of one party state, but luckily enough we not there yet. Edited by Dan1989, Jul 29 2016, 12:49 PM.

That a Donald Trump character could be the next President speaks of an America that has a systematic dumbing down of a people that do not question, do not have a passport, do not know how other cultures work and want their news on tiny snippets of information. I am not putting these people down. Why do they want tiny bits of news? Because they are working 2 jobs, getting up at 5.30, feeding the kids, going to work in a car that they hope doesn't break down. And so when someone says ''we are going to build a wall to keep Mexicans out, and no more goddam muslims'' then some will say ''hell yeah!'' It's an easy way to move them to your side with tough talk when economic times are bad. Historically that's how you can convince some people to do some unspeakable things if you look at the last 150 years of world history. Edited by Marconi, Jul 29 2016, 01:09 PM.
