Well he can't seem to put a foot wrong, even when he says the most outlandish things his support increases.

Another done deal for me, say hi to the next presedent of the U.S.A

The Republicans seem to be totally devoid of good orators like Michele, Barak, Hillary, Bernie, Bill Clinton. The other side produces speakers that act like American stand-up comedians. They shout bitter things straight at you.
That a Donald Trump character could be the next President speaks of an America that has a systematic dumbing down of a people that do not question, do not have a passport, do not know how other cultures work and want their news on tiny snippets of information.

I am not putting these people down. Why do they want tiny bits of news? Because they are working 2 jobs, getting up at 5.30, feeding the kids, going to work in a car that they hope doesn't break down. And so when someone says ''we are going to build a wall to keep Mexicans out, and no more goddam muslims'' then some will say ''hell yeah!''

It's an easy way to move them to your side with tough talk when economic times are bad. Historically that's how you can convince some people to do some unspeakable things if you look at the last 150 years of world history.

Exactly.Pay has stagnated, jobs have been exported, trade deals have enriched the wealthy and done nothing for the poor. There has been a stream of presidents who have spoke at them whereas Trump addresses their fears and talks to them in their language.

All the speech writers in the world will never make Hilary a great orator. That voice! Fingernails down a blackboard! No wonder Bill strayed!
If there is one person in this world that needs their adenoids and sinuses attending to it is her, what an irritating voice, no wonder Bill consorted with Monica.

A Canadian Restauranteur has come up with the Trump Sandwich, (that is full of baloney, of course!):

"The Trump Sandwich, which mocks Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, comes with a side of Russian dressing and a tiny pickle, all surrounded by "a wall of Mexican chips.""

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/trump-supporters-flood-canada-s-trump-sandwich-artist-with-bad-reviews-1.3726274

Anyway, he is being assailed by threatening Hillbilly trolls from down in the Exited States.

It is just further proof, for us living just beyond crazy land, that the United States is a twelve year old girl and that EVERY DAY IS HER BIRTHDAY!

Don't underestimate Trump, there are several clips of him on Youtube from many years ago and it's a very different Trump to the one we see today, he is thoughtful and measured in these clips, the bravado and mindless bluster is completely absent.

Trump is a clever man who has a deep understanding of what stupid people want.

It has been said that one more terrorist incident would all but guarantee Trump the election.

Well we have just had three terrorist incidents overnight...

So are you saying it was Trump supporters then?

So many of them are that stupid and arrogant it's not impossible

Intriguing thought.

The two "cooker bombs" in New York.. and the three pipe bomb in Seaside Park.. DID seem a bit.. well... strange ? They didn't kill anybody, which is unusual by the standards of Islamic Supremacist attacks.

Somehow, I can't but help that think that if Trump was involved, they would be a bit more... well.... effective ?

Well how has the chances of Trump being elected changed after the first debate?

IMHO both will have pleased their own choirs but done little to have grabbed the middle ground. Trump certainly started well but despite his habit for interruptions found it hard to dominate and got hurt more and more with well placed jabs from Hillary

Score Draw

That's a problem with fixed term legislatures and presidents. The US primary system though well intentioned, makes it worse

Trump is now complaining about the microphone, the moderator and is probably shouting at the moon too

I think we now know who won and it wasn't him. Breitbart is apparently denying it - no shock there then

Bit of a train wreck from Trump, not that it will hurt him with his core thicko supporters of course.

The constant repetition and re phrasing of key points and opinions is clearly designed to drum information into thick skulls, a bit like bullshit bingo for rednecks.

Gets a bit irritating after a while though.

This assessment from the US equivalent of FullFact is fairly damning

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2016/sep/27/trump-clinton-first-debate-fact-checks/

But he's a post truth politician. His supporters will just fall for what he says and paint any counter as a conspiracy by the establishment.

Doesn't really matter if he's not being truthful or factual, he just plays to his audience and they lap it up. Mistakes will be classed as telling it how it really is.

Farage has defended Trump by claiming it was just harmless boasting by an alpha male, one prick talking about another came to mind here, after all they have met.

It sounded more like some moron in a pub boasting to his mates, as opposed to a potential leader of the free World.

Well, the article discusses the reaction of senior Republican establishment figures. We all know that Trump is unconventional and NOT part of the "establishment", and indeed may even be regarded as "counter-establishment".

It remains to be seen whether the general voters will follow the same pattern as some of the Republican political elite. Having said that, the averaged polls still put Hillary in the lead, albeit by a small margin.

(curiously, it's currently the same margin as the Brexit vote).

As for not sounding like a potential "... leader of the free world", the previous three leaders got America into a right mess. (Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Syria, the failure to anticipate or properly address Islamism and its attacks on the US, the failure of the US Soccer team to qualify for the Olympics.. well... OK.. maybe that wasn't entirely their fault, but mud sticks :P ).

So, perversely, not sounding like a ".. leader of the free world" may even WORK for him.

Nah

Clinton balanced the budget leading to more retained wealth and Obama led them out of the financial crisis. If you think Americans see the other stuff as the USA being in a mess you really haven't spent much time there

Here's what Farage says. Far too clever for the BBC to weasel into what they might want him to have said.

Trump sounded like an oaf but afaik there is no evidence that he actually grabbed the pussies that he said he did.
Mr Clinton did grab pussies and more .Not only that but it seems that Mrs Clinton attacked and intimidated the women..post pussy grab.
At the end of the day Clinton is still a slick sociopath owned by the financial institutions and Trump is a buffoon that speaks the language of the disenfranchised and cynical public.

Here is an example of Clinton's sociopathy:

Well Clinton won again last night as the polls show LINK

even his pet Breitbart admitted it this time. Although they dressed it up as words that translate to "Trump wasn't as shite as most thought he'd be".

Still 4 weeks to go and of course anything could happen but every day the GOP stance seems more like campaigning to have a Hill that can frustrate a Democrat president.

Remember "No one got poor underestimating the American electorate" (Mencken)

The leave campaign whined like stuck pigs when Obama offered advice to the British public, Farage also had some things to say about this poking your nose in stuff.

You'll never guess where Farage is and what he's been doing!

Clever bloke that Farage.

Farage addressed Trumps supporters at a rally, not sure they understood him though, and is apparently offering advice.

Perhaps if Trump runs for president eight times he will finally succeed?
