When US dollar supremacy was threatened in the past the US was able to destabilise, sanction and even invade the countries doing the threatening.

However, the latest challenge comes from countries which can't be destabilised or invaded, indeed the latest challenge is even drawing in stalwart American allies.

With dollar supremacy ending America's empire is coming to an end.

Cymru - I think that the problems faced by the US, are matched by the problems faced by their major competitors, China is increasingly having to look to its own internal markets for business - internal markets do not tend to bring in much extra money from outside. India has it's own complexity of problems and distractions. The world is by-and-large getting rather messy.

Bottom line, the US is geographically vast and has massive resources that just need digging up. It has 320 million people, not all of whom chew baccy or eat burgers all day.

The US will be a major power for many, many decades, perhaps even centuries.

Indeed, but interventionism will become ever harder to justify in a new multi-polar world which is strengthening itself every day.

Without interventionism , kiss good bye to the petro-dollar system. Then the US will have to go from open-bar currency to have to balance the economy. That won't make the US a 3rd world country, far from it, but it will likely light few fires in their social fabric.
