If it is not a rude question Dan, where do you come from? were you born in the UK?

Does it really matter? ;D

Someone on here . . .was actually born in . . .
And Cliff Richard was born in India. As you say Does it really matter? So don't stoop to it yourself

!mod-s! harassing posters because of their origins is not allowed

edits have been made
I think we all know what the intended slur is behind this, use technically incorrect grammar or express views that rule out nationalistic flag waving and certain people will ask where you come from, it is indeed unacceptable........

The ? mark is deliberate in the newly assigned thread title for the split post

IE it's not certain that it was an attempt to challenge. But it's not certain that is wasn't either

I suggest best that all ambiguous comments on mod notices are kept in the Dungeon

And to the point at hand we have a history of some posters being serially taunted over their origins.

As a default such will attract an instant ban where I see it with increasing lengths for repeat offences.

Very glad to see this.

Can we include social background, gender differences, and of course religious or colour differences, in it too.

well imho

"social background," Mostly not, it's not covered by rule 1 (which in essence is our agreement with the site host)

"gender differences, and of course religious or colour differences" where irrelevant yes. But if someone posts using their declared gender, religion or colour to emphasise a point they open up the floodgates to be challenged on such.

It's a bloody minefield I tell thee

I've never initiated discrimination based on race or place of birth it's disgusting in my view, but I'm getting pretty tired of the phrase, or variations of it that ask, are you really British? Which is monotonously trotted out the minute hard right or nationalistic views are shot down in flames.

Didn't I know it ......... the minefield needs careful traversing.
What we should have is common sense, unbiased common sense, and that too is near impossible.
If I have just one request, it is that we all of us remain honest - no false premise.

Quote:

In order for an argument to be considered valid the logical form of the argument must work – must be valid. A valid argument is one in which, if the premises are true, then the conclusion must be true also. However, if one or more premise is false then a valid logical argument may still lead to a false conclusion. A sound argument is one in which the logic is valid and the premises are true, in which case the conclusion must be true.

Logical Argument

Absolutely not in my view, but it should not be the basis for slurring those with differing views on the direction the nation is taking, xenophobia always ends up hurting those who practice it.

Of course you can ask and if answered know, it wasn't your post that drew the mod notice was it?

But the practice of using that to insult or attack another poster is not good. Some time back a poster rightly objected to being so insulted and we took action.

I have no idea what drew the attention of a mod....that was not made clear, but I just wanted to clarify that I was not out of order.....no offence meant and none taken.....I hope, anyway, I have replied to Dan as he had the courtesy to reply to me.

OK i'm sticking my head in now. ...

From what I see, it wasn't your question, but someone else's quote of it (or even quote of that quote) that kicked off the intervention.

Well then, hopefully, that person has had a diplomatic PM sent to them, I think I can guess who the miscreant was but I cannot tell as it maybe the poster that I have had to once again put on ignore.

Well actually it's not. I moved it from the Dungeon when a sensible discussion broke out.

So I suppose as it's main forum someone should tut tut or something for the first part of your post but I can see your point. Maybe we need a knitting emoji. Like this one? Posted Image

I am willing to bet a months wages that I cover more footwork ground in one day than you would cover in a week.

That includes up and down stairwells and long long corridors, (twice every weekday)

I have gone out of my way ever since I left school to make sure that no one could ever call me lazy.

For your information, I eat my lunch (standing up) as that is when most parcel deliveries arrive and have to be logged in, I drink my tea whilst franking in the morning up until 10:00 hrs after that it is water for the rest of the day to compliment my medication.
