The French Presidential election

Back on topic.

The French Presidential election starts to kick in today with the two front runners starting their campaign.

Look very much like it's going to be a right v left final.

Le Pen looks to win the first round and Macron looks to be taking second as Fillon is being pushed out.

Remember this thread Montjoie?

http://w11.zetaboards.com/UK_Debate_Mk_2/topic/10812433/1/

You spotted him before any of us did
Yup, he got that right didn't he?

The reply directly below it was rather gloomy though and didn't forsee the economic recovery that is now taking place in France. ;D

I feel it's time for a little bit of football crowd wisdom:

It's all gone quiet, all gone quiet, it's all gone quiet over there

or even better:

Can you hear the EU doomsayers sing?
Cos we can't hear a f**king thing

Papasmurf, for the benefit of us uneducated morons, what is your point ?
My point is that the President of France, has more power that the Presidents of many other democracies.
Well, we shall certainly see the extent of French presidential powers from Monsiuer Macron now.

I notice Leave EU have tweeted that France has surrendered just like in 1940.

Their passion for democracy has evaporated overnight it would seem.

The French have chosen, good luck to them :)

It would probably be because France has been overcome by Muslims...and they all have a right to vote..Macron has announced that he will not stop immigration..and they are welcome!! Another ticking time bomb?

So you say 7% of the population dominated an election won by over 30%?

Go on tell us all how that works?

Because they all have French passports..Due to the French-Algerian war..and they have bred..all those children will be French..and they are not going to vote for a party who wants to throw them out..

Do you get it yet?

However their alliegence lies elswhere..as seen by the murders in France..

So seems Marine has failed to get that key 1st round win and is on track to be soundly defeated in round 2 in 2 weeks time

A bad day for those that pushed the false line that the EU is doomed and an appalling day for those that think the only thing wrong with left wing parties is they don't go left wing enough. They got utterly thrashed

An all round good day in fact :)

Will you stick your neck out and predict the outcome in a fortnights time?
OK then I reckon Macron wins with 68% of the vote
excellent guess!

The idea of leaving the EU, the euro, cost Le Pen dearly imo.
That and near 7 million Muslim voters (assuming they all voted) possibly adding to the 10 million majority Macron got.
The Establishment win! Now we will see how far back to the centre French politics will go seeing as FN has emerged as the real opposition party instead of a fringe non entity.

Interesting fact .
11.4 million of the 47 million who are registered to vote chose not to – higher than the number that voted for Ms Le Pen.

A further three million (8 per cent of voters) voted blanc – meaning that they handed in an empty ballot, while a further million (3 per cent) spoiled their ballot in protest – another record for France.

Ooh touchy

At least I know basic maths. Feel free to open "your trap" again and show us that some don't

Go on let's try again. How the hell do you suppose that the Islamic 7% of the population could amount to 66% of the recorded vote and nearly 50% of the eligible vote?

Because those of us that didn't skip school during arithmetic lessons know it has to mean a clear majority of the non Islamic voters also voted for Macron. So your idiot post was just trying to throw shit to see if some stuck wasn't it.

I heard an amusing soundbite on the radio thisafternoon. It was a Frenchman being asked about the election. He wasn't a Macron supporter, and said something like...

"...pffft... why would anyone vote for Macron ? Why would anyone vote to make somebody who has never run for office before into our President ? ".

Obviously he hadn't been keeping up to date with news from the USA ;D

Terrible isn't it? :nono:

Many moved to France and failed to fit in, they bought with them bigoted and outdated views that put them at odds with the rest of society, they did not try hard enough to fit in and spent most of their time complaining and pointing out problems that ironically they were often the cause of.

When did you leave France Mary?

;-)

It's something taken completely out of context to gee up the weak minded and gullible. And there is a lot of them about these days. :)

It's worse. It is in effect a deliberate libel (originally by le Pen) by twisting what he said.

He said: “Il n'y a pas de culture Française, Il n'y a pas une culture française, il y a une culture en France et elle est diverse.”

Which in effect says there is not a single French culture but a rich diverse culture

I left in 2005..having lived in both Marseilles and Paris..It was a dangerous place..You could not go down the Metro..(unless you were nuts) and couldn't go into the HLM's or even past them..This was Algerian people..and they were angry..

I see that the French media are mocking his wife..(24 years older than him) my god she is going to have to be strong..Apparently..he is whiter than white..so his Achilles heel will be his wife..French people love a good profile..And many French Presidents have got rid of their ageing wives/girlfriends..to swap them for a younger model..

Another bed sit fake news promoting jockey. I'd say he was a loser but he's likely making decent click money off YouTube when suckers promote his videos. And then there's what he gets from third country sponsors

Sfunny though imagine if it was Macron who had been the elder of the relationship would most people be as willing to accept it, if she had been fifteen and him in his late thirties.

I'm not on about the French, they care a lot less about that type of thing it seems. As they are both French we should keep our nose out probably.

Did you see bedsit Jack at the White House Steve?

I see Manfred Webber (sp?), has already slapped him down about 'reform' and told him to sort his own country out.

They cheered him on, got him on board, then told him to sit down like a good little boy once he got through the door.
