I was somewhat taken aback by this.

https://www.chathamhouse.org/expert/comment/what-do-europeans-think-about-muslim-immigration

The poll was taken PRIOR to Trumps executive order, and indicates strong antipathy across Europe towards immigration from Muslim countries.

If the report is true, then it seems that the European protesters against Trumps executive order (which would presumably include the "no state visit" agitators) are somewhat out of synch with the majority ?

Do most people agree with Trump style blanket bans?

Not personally, no. Some of my best friends are Blankets, and the blanket ban is a manifestation of pure Blankephobia !

It's also being covered up !

So basically the respondents were replying to a loaded question?

As opposed to the alleged banning of all Muslims?

Well, the question was...

Quote:

In our survey, carried out before President Trump’s executive order was announced, respondents were given the following statement: ‘All further migration from mainly Muslim countries should be stopped’. They were then asked to what extent did they agree or disagree with this statement.

Controversial certainly, but hardly "loaded" ?

Looks like the elderly are the most biased, no surprise there!

The elderly tend to be less niave about things/reality, IMHO.

I've often found the opposite to be true, many older people are set in their ways and are resist change, this leads to a head in the sand mindset, they like things to stay as they are.

I'm sure you're right Tigger. However, that doesn't mean that "change" is always a good thing, or that resisting change necessarily represents "putting your head in the sand".

Change just for the sake of change usually isn't a good idea, with some reservation. However the young adapt far better to changes than the old and often no quit so wise, there are plenty of people on this very forum still living in wartime era they were never even born in! ;D

Blame the Tory austerity policies for that.

In many cases it is because they have already experienced parallels in the past - 'been there, done it, got the t-shirt fashion'.

All clothes including T shirts should be washed on a regular basis.

Due to some of my T-shirts being very rare and irreplaceable , they don't get washed very often, and when they do it is by hand and in cold water.

Mine get cut up and are used to polish cars and stuff in the house, not that I do anything in the house according to some.

never wise to polish cars in the house. Almost as bad as dismantling motorbikes in the kitchen or wearing niffy T shirts ;-)
