This is NOT a binding poll, it's just seeing what our feeling is on the use of the word 'Bollocks' (or Bollox).

Posted Image

Nearly 40 years after Richard Branson walked free from court for that album cover ^ because he successfully argued the word actually referred to nonsense uttered by novice priests, it seems the word may offend some. Interestingly you can find over 600 posts on this forum that use the word in either spelling

So please pick the poll option closest to your view and the one thing I can guarantee is at least one member will take note of the forum view

x ........ it's use applicable in certain situations!
Where it is not applicable is when there is no considered reasoning for using it ..... as I'm sure at least one member will attempt to discredit.

Good word but it has got a bit of a personality disorder.

Bollocks = nonsense
The bollocks = good
The dog's bollocks = very good
Bollocksed = exhausted/drunk/it's broken/made a mistake
Bollocking = Telling off
Chuffed to one's bollocks = very pleased with oneself
The old bollocks = term of endearment/or dislike to describe someone

I'm just talking bollocks.

Huh, seeing as how those that govern us past and present, make best usage of the meaning of the word, I would have to say that it appears in everyday usage within the house.

Absolute bollocks] tosh Rich. You do like making up false stories about MPs don't you

It's been used 3 times in the house. Once with permission from the speaker because the word was relevant, once quoting a witness and once with immediate censure from the speaker

It's not like it would have been hard for you to check your imagined alternate reality

Once again, you misread another members posts, I was referring to the way that they speak a load of old bollocks, so if anyone should know the true meaning of the word it is them.

Are you suffering with OCD of late with jumping on posters? Shrugs:

No, are you about MPs?

I will retract my comment though and apologise

And ask if you weren't suggesting that they used the word frequently and quite clearly Oddball also thought that you did, why did you bother to post that in this thread?

For no other reason than to illustrate why I have no issue with the use of the word when so much of the meaning of the word is spoken about it in the house, perhaps I did not phrase my post correctly, but that is what I meant to convey.

Ergo, if it is okay by those that govern to spout a load of bollocks then it cannot possibly offend anyone if it is described as such, they do after all, lead by example.

For no other reason than clarity, when I read what Rich posted I did get the exact meaning he says here was intended.
To me he has no obligation to have to correct that passage.

Nah I bolloxed up

Talking of which I read this poll as conclusive that anyone can in general use the word without fear of causing serious offence. But as stated it's not a binding poll
