I didn't watch the vid, seeing Trump reminds me of one of those toe curling low quality showmen who can make morons eat out of his hand. Anyone a fan of the 80's? Dodgy hair? Loasamoney? C5, Top Gun? Er.... AIDS? Well here is another unwelcome thing from the 80's that will end is embarrassment, trickle down economics! Yup Trump is going to give the richest people in America a massive tax cut whilst at the same time expanding the military, naturally there will be a suckers rally but mentally retarded Trump voters will ultimately pay for it. For Sale. One gigawat water pump, unused due to change of plans, buyer collects. |

That's "draining the swamp" don't you know? Trump has just turned his back on the frightened and declining American Middle Class who looked to him for help. http://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/27/us/politics/individual-business-tax-wealth.html?_r=0 |

Oh, he got their vote back yesterday at the NRA Convention when he declared that gun owners now have a friend in the White House. He's decided that "Open Carry" laws ... i.e. that you can walk around with a loaded gun in a holster ... will be extended from a few yahooo states to nation wide. He's already dropped the provision that excludes the mentally incompetent from gun ownership that was brought in by Obama. http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/28/politics/trump-nra-speech/ America. The land of the quick and the dead ... .. . aside. One of our television networks broadcasts a weekly documentary about the intercepts made at our border crossings by Canadian authorities. An episode a couple of weeks back had an American family crossing into British Columbia from Bellingham, Washington. They were a "normal" young family that were headed for an afternoon in the park, took a wrong turn and ended up entering Canada. "Do you have any firearms?" there were asked, as Americans try to cross our borders armed every minute of the day ( thy can't believe that Canada doesn't have "open carry", just like Tayeksus does.) Sure the couple had some guns. The Canadian Border Services please emptied out the minivan and found four loaded semi-automatic pistols on board ... Glocks and Brownings. The real kicker, though, was the 9mm Browning that was fully loaded, magazine full WITH A ROUND READY TO GO IN THE CHAMBER in the toddler's diaper bag. They were just a normal family. Really. Maybe, you need that to go for a walk in the park in Washington State. Maybe, it was for the toddler to play with. Trump people. Nearly half of the United States are Trump People, just like that. While I do have some reservations about Trump's quirkiness and off the wall reflexes at times, by and large I give a thumbs up to his efforts at rolling back some of the 'liberal' moral and ethical iffyness that has been passed through in recent times, under that guise of 'human rights'. |

He has successfully withdrawn health care from 25 million lower income Americans, yesterday. Two thumbs up for draining the swamp. |

Yeah, but many couldn't afford health insurance because of raising costs and premiums which the act didn't cover because they weren't poor enough, please see it from other sides before getting partisan. Before you get all angry, understand that the states themselves if the people voted for it can enact their own universal healthcare and the federal government already provides funding to each state for their health costs. America is too big for a national wide system, but it seems the America people aren't willing or knowing that they could vote for parties on a state level to enact it. Well first point is Trump hasn't won. He still has to get it through an increasingly hostile Senate Trumps's revised bill does allow increased provisions for the otherwise uninsurable but it's still a drastic cut in federal funding that means in practical terms many will be denied affordable health insurance. He has essentially changed nothing in his core plan to take money from providing for the sick and giving it to the rich in tax breaks. |

Whether we like it(We are near fanatical about universal healthcare) or not, many Americans aren't that supportive of universal healthcare, that's why I said it would be better for people in America to canvas their own state to convince people to agree, anyway an America grand policy came up with quite a few issues, the main gripe people seem to be mad about is the ability of the bill to make insurance companies provide insurance in past cases where they wouldn't, but the new bill has that already covered. Well, about his reasons for it, I just think he's just trying to do the tried and tested American way of economics, small governments, taxes, regulation and aggressive tariffs. |

Some people who voted for Trump will eventually die because they can no longer afford healthcare. Good, it thins out the herd.

American health care is totally controlled by an insurance industry lobby. There are literally trillions of dollars of profit at stake and the American people will never, ever have the sort of state run, health care like the rest of the developed world has had for decades. Democracy is quite irrelevant to this. The oligarchy in charge of health care in the US is more powerful than their perennially divided governments that can't even pass simple budgets. The last clear chance that they had to choose public health care was back in LBJs time and they missed their window. Their system is not delivering, either. The life expectancy of Americans is lower than ours and the gap is increasing ... so are other measures, such as the infant mortality rate, there. The US safety net is creeping into Third World levels and the fading American Middle Class are paying more and more for less and less. |

"In May 2011, the state of Vermont became the first state to pass legislation establishing a single-payer health care system. The legislation, known as Act 48, establishes health care in the state as a "human right" and lays the responsibility on the state to provide a health care system which best meets the needs of the citizens of Vermont. The proposal was shelved not long after the main provisions of the law took effect in 2014.[130] A revised estimate in July 2012 by the CBO stated 30 million people would gain access to health insurance under the law." There's been a case where a state has tried for it, so again it's down to the American people to canvas their state to provide it. The USA is too large for a universal system, hence the rising costs and premiums, but on a state level, those costs would be far more easily adjustable. |

The US isn't too big for a universal system any more than Japan or China, is. That's just an excuse for their collective, institutional incompetence, these days. The United State's best years are behind them. |

Of course it is, are you really saying China has great health service, they tried to provide such cover, it helped one group and put pressure on another group, because trying to fund over such a large area without upsetting the economy isn't really possible, I think we sometimes forget that America isn't your average sized country, it's ten times your population. Though through state management is far more possible, I am very surprised California hasn't attempted it, no-one can say there isn't the political will, so even if the most left leaning state isn't willing, what hope is they for the rest of country, state level is their only chance, but in general Americans aren't great fans of European style of governance. |

It's nine times our population but the real issue with the United States is that they are in steep decline. Every empire comes to an end. It's their time .. their turn. |

Well, not counting trespasses, which could be much higher, so ten times seems like a good figure. But again your anti-American stance, or at-least your commentary on their perceived decline doesn't stop themselves from elected states that would push through universal healthcare on a state level, but as I said earlier in general Americans aren't very willing for such a setup, well at-least a larger enough section of Americans aren't. But until that military is matched, they will be top dog for quite a while. Edited by Dan1989, May 6 2017, 09:01 PM.

Vermont is he poorest and one of the smallest states in the union. They are closely tied to Quebec and they have been since before the Revolution that they reluctantly joined. The "big cities" for them and a lot of the goods and services that they live on are over the Canadian border. Imagine what it would have been like for an East German to cross into West Germany . That's somewhat similar to crossing north from Vermont into Quebec. No wonder, they've opted for a public health system. They know that all of the "anti" propaganda that saturates the rest America is bullshyte. They see it up close, everyday. By the way, the US cities along their Northern border are in an extreme state of decay. If you don't believe me, come on over, take a drive through Rochester, Buffalo, Niagara Falls (NY), Toledo, Cincinnati, Detroit (which has collapsed and lost more than half of their population over just two decades) ... the "Rust Belt", they call it. Chicago, even, is hitting the skids. It's going down. You can see it for yourself. |
