Back in 1979 when tachographs were being discussed in the UK Parliament it was a factor in me stopping being a Juggernaut Pilot. It was obvious even then that tampering with a tachograph would be easy. (Or at least tampering with the input.) I has no idea with the advances in technology it still is.) I can see only one way forward the use of GPS tracking instead of tachographs. (Many delivery companies fleets are already fitted with GPS trackers.) (My method of tampering which I for obvious reasons will not detail does not interfere with truck safety systems, the current methods being used does.) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41361351 Rise in lorry tachograph tampering on UK roads By Rob Cave 5 live Investigates 1 hour ago From the section UK More than 440 lorries crossing into the UK last year were found with manipulated tachographs, Britain's road regulator has said. Tachographs are on-board digital recorders which keep track of the number of hours a driver has been on the road. The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency believes a further 400 drivers were cheating, some using sophisticated "interrupters" to switch off the lorries' tachographs, but couldn't prove it. The DVSA suspects that haulage bosses could be behind the use of the devices because they are complicated to install and are often found in more than one lorry from the same company. |

As that thread involves several pending court cases and may also involve tachograph tampering I suggest keeping the threads separate. |

Just featured on BBC Fake Britain. As I posted before it takes just a bar magnet for many trucks and that disables the speedometer and speed limiters too Sling the buggers in jail and burn their trucks in front of the owners and then jail them too. Instead they don't get any penalty |
