It appears my wife and I are going upmarket. (Whether we like it or not.)
I have just been emailed next years ground rent and site maintenance costs for our mobile home sited in Brittany.
No rise in charges, (5th year running.)
However we are going to be issued with a remote control for the newly installed security gates at the entrance to the site.

The "refugees" are now appearing all the way along the channel coast from the Belgian border Westwards to the start of the Atlantic Ocean.
It is causing problems.

Bloody hell, you don't want to find some economic migrants in your mobile home when you turn up do you.
Get your break off to a bad start.

Our mobile home is the middle of the site surrounded by high hedges, it is also the oldest mobile home on the site by a VERY long way. It is also only one bedroom, so I suspect it would be the last mobile home on the site to be targeted by "squatters."
On the other hand there a some very luxury multi bedroomed mobile homes on the site. One even has an Aga cooker that would not be out of place in a large farmhouse kitchen.

Perhaps it is to keep the residents in and to stop them escaping? ;D

There aren't any residents as there is not all year around occupancy.

We have a field at the back of our house that was frequented by dog walkers, they used it as a shortcut between two footpaths, the farmer who owned the land was happy to let this continue as he never used it for anything other than growing weeds and blackberry bushes, unfortunately a few people who could see into our yard from the said field complained to the local council that they suspected that we were conducting a business from a barn that had a few vans stored in it. We weren't conducting a business but we were getting someone in to maintain and keep the vehicles clean.

We purchased the strip of land from the farmer and fenced it off to prevent trespassers with dogs shitting on our land, our own little gated community! Job done!

And you have the nerve to comment when others do not cotton on to YOUR "apparent" humour?

As I am being issued with a remote controller to open and shut the gate, the comment was stupid not funny.
