You will have to fight amongst yourselves tomorrow until the evening.
I have to get up well before dawn to take my wife to an appointment going through the "Stargate."

the one in cardiff is in a mobile unit that has not moved for years, nonetheless, it is hard to cast from your mind the knowledge that

(a) you are hogtied to a platformthat is free to move on a fairly friction free, robotically controlled conveyor belt

(b) the controlling computer is windows xp (it is, i looked) and

(c) if it were to launch you like a torpedo at full whack you would sail feet first through the far wall of the trailer and touch down on the A48(m)

no wucking furries then ...

I have been through one twice now at Thatcham Health centre.....no big deal really, but what get's me is they give you a pair of headphones and a choice of music to listen to......the sad thing is the machine is so loud that you cannot hear yourself think.

But I must say that the high definition colour pics that are produced on a screen are really something to behold and give a great insight into one's own body.....in my case, my spine, both vertically and horizontally.

I love technology.

I endorse all that 'tuthers have said, Smurfy.

I went through one of the Sheffield 'Stargates' some years back, to get a picture of my 'dicky ticker'.

That's "just " a CT scan. Try an MRI, sometime ... not for the claustrophobic. I've had two over the last five years. It's like being stuffed in a torpedo tube with a Trinidadian steel band hammering away on the outside with ballpene hammers.

Back a lot earlier that expected because of far less traffic than normal and the scanner is less that a year old and much more advanced than the ancient one that had been there since the hospital was built.
I have not yet purchased the Engineer T-shirt but I am going to.

The last CAT scan that they did on me found a big hair ball.

I noticed that they blow a steady stream of fresh air over your face while you are being scanned. I suppose that if exhaled carbon dioxide built up around your nose, you'd feel like you were being smothered. People do panic and they watch you very closely. It's like being buried alive (I think!).

I've had both, and i agree. plus the generously proportioned don't fit down the tube very well (!!!)

My wife assures me the MRI scanner at Treliske Hospital would accommodate a gurt porker with no problems.
