As per usual, on Saturday's I listen to R4 before the footie starts at 15:00 hrs, today on any questions I listened to Hillary Benn holding forth and heard him utter the phrase of we "asked to leave" the EU. If I remember correctly, we held a diplomatic referendum and the result is well known. We did not ask to leave, we fxxxxxg decided and there can be no confusion about that. We must bear in mind that Hilary Benn is the shadow minister for Brexit and is on this occasion an appeaser. This is why the EU negotiating team seek to find cracks in the negotiating stance of the UK negotiating team and make good use of them. The actual "freudian slip" can be heard below and begins at 24 minutes in. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b098ns2x#play |
