Donald trump agrees that there was Russian interference in the election, but he says it did not influence the outcome of the election.

No influence on the outcome because he says so !jk! IMO he has exposed his Mr Smart Mouth immaturity.

Of course we have to wait and see. But perhaps one can be forgiven if one questions the character of the man who would be king if he indulges in personal twitter fights with just about anyone who offends him. It's not...presidential"...is it?

Why doesn't Trump grow up and stop acting like a schoolyard smart mouthing fool ?
Beware of what right-wingers bring to the table

Which of course has been garnered through personal knowledge and close exposure to the man ?

As Rich says, it'snone of our business who or how the yanks elect their presidents.
So are you saying we don't live on a planet where the USA is not only the dominant military power but has hardly been shy about using that power beyond its borders?

And are you saying we aren't in a military pact where we are obliged to go to war if the USA is attacked by forces Trump may provoke?

And are you saying we have no threat from fundamentalist Islamic terrorism that has often claimed our alignment with the USA to justify mass murder?

And are you saying we don't have USA armed forces o bases in the UK that would be targeted should the USA go to serious war?

And are you saying we aren't dependent on imported fuels whose pricing and supply aren't dominated by the US economy?

And are you saying we shouldn't have any empathy for USA and wider North American citizens whose lives might be wrecked by Trump's policies?

Easy yes/no questions so please answer

None of these are relevant to the opinions being expressed about Trump. The point here is that until he gets to be president and makes decisions, it'll only be if/when any of them affect the UK negatively, that we need to be concerned about, or is that too difficult to comprehend ?

I will give credit to Trump if he manages to "make America great again". Meanwhile I will continue to give my opinion which is that Trump is a liar and will say anything that he thinks might make him appear to be a decent intelligent individual. He resorts to smart mouthing when he doesn't have an intelligent answer which exposes his schoolyard mentality.

My perception is that he is a liar and has always been a liar. He just tells his lies with such conviction that some swallow every word.

(Beware of what right-wingers bring to the table).

Considering Trump has yet to get his feet under the table, so to speak, there's an awful lot of ignorant froth generated by some here, making wildly stupid forecasts and casting nasty aspersions, and the man isn't even British !

Personally, I doubt he could do much worse than the flaky Obama with his 'holier than thou' airs, but bugger all action of any substance, save for the 'Obamacare', an obvious vanity project, which has yet to bear any fruit apparently.
It is being peddled in the media now CNN (Clinton News Network ) MSNBC,ABC you know the non bised fake news networks. That the Obama administration had no scandals during his tenure LOL really

Benghazi
IRS targeting consevatives
Fast and Furious ( gun running )
Support for ISIS
Libya

TO NAME BUT A FEW.These idiots need to come out of la la land into the real world

Come on Steve. Is this fact or just an opinion? We really do not know how the American people will react to his decisions or what his approval ratings are or will be. I think it is 'fair' to give him time to make his mark, for or against. It is another occasion where we need to wait and see.
Yes it's fair that he should be given his chance at being president

And it's equally fair that each time he comes out with yet another cheap lie in some tantrum then it's pointed out what it is and what he is in making it. As he did last night.

With what purpose and what difference will it make. No one on this board has a vote on his presidency. Is he opposed to something that is important to you or which you personally fear ? There seems to be less chance of a confrontation with Russia than there was before.

Actually when Trump talks of downgrading NATO and giving Putin carte blanche, those that think issues through know there is very much more chance of a confrontation with Putin.

And last time I looked I have a vote in the UK and would like our government to take account of UK views on that misogynist lying egotistical abusive git when we send our lying egotistical idiot over to talk to his team.

That's a nonsense question. I will just continue to post my opinions of Trump. You seem to have a problem with that.
Which of course has been garnered through personal knowledge and close exposure to the man ?

As Rich says, it'snone of our business who or how the yanks elect their presidents.
I have seen plenty of Trump's immaturity on TV, certainly enough to form an opinion.

Correct, it is none of our business, but that doesn't mean people can't form and express opinions. Is there some sort of Nazi Fascist PC control on the rise ? :rubchin:

Mr Trump said: "She is a Hillary flunky who lost big. For the 100th time, I never 'mocked' a disabled reporter (would never do that)."

Oh so what's this at 20 seconds in then Donald?

I'm not convinced it was as offensive as it has been made out to be.
Trump is obviously 'in character', imitating what the reporter said and the mannerisms used when doing so. It's fair to express the comments that were made in the same manner that they were made.

Now if Trump has repeated those comments affecting a Julian Clary mannerism, that would be offensive - to everyone except Julian C.

Sorry Affa, pointing out that someone is/maybe wrong is not a problem, indicating a disability is an insight into Trumps immaturity.

I don't like Trump, distrust him immensely!
But if you watch any public speaker, a good one, that uses anecdotal story telling, it is usual to do it 'in character'.
He wasn't being complementary, for sure, but his motive wasn't to insult his disability but his argument.

There is clearly going to be a trade war that will probably become a global one in very short order. The first few salvos have already been fired and the chances of it happening are around 100%. That will probably result in a planetary recession ... including the US but, as you suggest, wait for it.p

It isn't at all clear to me that there will be a trade war, esp as EU member countries such as Germany, Spain and France stand to lose far more than we in the UK will. Check their trade figures with the UK.

I have doubts about Donald .
However I do enjoy the way he brings out the "disgusted of Tunbridge Wells ' in the lefty usual suspects.
Trump speaks like the rough blue collar workers who tend not to act like maiden aunts when rough / crude words or actions are used. People who laugh at you......

But now the election is over and Trump is to be inaugurated into the presidency in 9 days time, does any of it matter? He has powerful supporters to help maintain his position, and stay he will, for there does not seem to be anything in law to challenge him and he has the party majority in both houses of the American government.

Like our Brexit campaign that is also decided, it seems there is a modern phenomena of attacking something for the sake of it, or for poor loser spite.

If's a big word in politics, and commentators who are almost invariably biased, are looking to make a story. Why do the losers today make such a loud noise and winners invariably challenged on their integrity.
We will eventually reach a stage that everyone will have to carry a certificate to shoe that they are squeaky clean and politically correct before seeking public office, leaving everyone afraid to stand. Something quite unpleasant is taking place today IMO, with its constant finger pointing and dreamed up allegations and accusations.

There is such a thing as being objective, and then facing the reality of the what is. What matters is, Is he going to be the next president of the United states of America. If so we are stuck with him for the next four years, or even eight.
What we have is impeachment by the press and the media and those that are opposed to him, when the only impeachment that matters is by Congress, and that is unlikely to happen.

Do you feel empowered by criticising the next most powerful man in the world? Courage Mon Brave. ::)

It would be naive to imagine that the political class would not use social media, the internet, to get their own pov across and to influence procedure. To do it without integrity is expected.

Of course we have to wait and see. But perhaps one can be forgiven if one questions the character of the man who would be king if he indulges in personal twitter fights with just about anyone who offends him. It's not...presidential"...is it?
That's what concerns me, he seems to be very thin skinned, which is not a desirebale quality in any politician.

When you add that to his apparent impulse control problems and the fact that he will soon be in command of the world's most powerful military, well, doesn't make a good sleeping pill.

The more the idealistic liberal left oppose Trump the more I shall support him. If they don't like him then the more he must be needed.
They were the reason we have Brexit and the rise of the right wing across Europe They just cannot understand that their brand of stifling dictatorial controlling extremism is not wanted. If he goes too far in what he does they are the ones that led to his election.
Will they believe it? Of course not , for they think themselves to be always right, and anything else contrary to their own beliefs is anathema to them.

But this time the attack comes not from the outside but from within, from extremist splinter groups of the New Left made up of students and—I am sorry to acknowledge—also of some faculty who would like to see our colleges and universities denigrated, maligned and even shut down. They insinuate, distort, accuse, their aim being not to identify and correct real abuses, but always rather by crying alarm intentionally to arouse and inflame passions in order to build support for "non-negotiable demands." Clearly the old McCarthy technique is at work again…. It is more difficult to maintain a realistic sense of human limitation, to refuse to become frustrated and angry; to analyze, to assess, to seek to understand and explain; to determine to be adult and fair; and thus to work patiently to improve while refusing to succumb to either cynicism or hopelessness. It is the long way around, but it is the civilized way, and the only way for those [who] have come truly to understand the role of humane learning."

Defending the Denigrator General, turning a blind eye to his failings and then pouring scorn on those who don't, is not a commendable position to take.

Let us count down and see what happens with just Eight days to go to put us out of our misery.

The more I hear from Trump the more it is beginning to dawn on me is that his attraction to the electorate is based upon the ---conspiracy mind set. ---

Everything is bad because everyone is bad except himself and his conspiracy minded supporters. :)

Well it is so ,____ exactly as you describe.

It would be naive to imagine that the political class would not use social media, the internet, to get their own pov across and to influence procedure. To do it without integrity is expected.

That strikes me as a very dangerous philosophy. The enemy of your enemy isn't necessarily your friend.

Trump is a case in point, he supposedly stands up for the little guy against the tyranny of an out of touch political elite, then fills his cabinet with billionaires.

It's beyond parody.

That's because you are tribalist!
Nothing you have added alters that observation.
All of us could learn more if we were able to see ourselves as others see us. I offer you that insight, in hope (not expectation) that you learn from it.

Why do you use your negative opinions of others as argument? Would you like me to reciprocate in similar terms?

But the fact is your posts above are consistently of the theme that Trump should not be subject to scrutiny or challenge

Well tough luck he is certainly going to get both

He's neither my enemy nor my friend, and he has not taken office and implemented policies to be able to judge his administration. Do you not think the the majority of his opposition is coming from the liberal left from the supporters of Clinton and Obama?
Objectivity requires that we wait and see Do we currently have any other choice, other than to gratuitously abuse him?

My remarks were general, yours are personal.
Here is another saying.Do not underestimate those you see as your enemies, like the Remainers and Cameron did in our referendum. or made forecasts about the USA elections.

I was pointing out an obvious truth, not an opinion, so why are you complaining ?
