This day 18 years ago my life completely changed. I am reminded everyday how lucky I was. What changed yours?

A rather money grabbing colleague of mine and his wife befriended a widow . They soon cadged her late husbands car off her. He told me that she Promised to leave them her house after she died.
Anyway she did die and they both found her dead in the house that she promised them.
According to him they stepped over her dead body and looked through her cupboards and drawers. They were overjoyed to find that she had several bank accounts that total ...hundreds of thousands of pounds.
They took off some rings off her fingers ..really ....and called an ambulance...this is true...he told me this..
He told another work colleague that they were upset that she had soiled herself and how awful it was for her..And in the next breath went on about how her house and money plus his house and another house left to him and his wife would make him a millionaire.
Apparently he got a phone call while at work and turned ashen. His wife told him that she had left her money to an an animal care charity ( I don’t know which one ) . They told her that they had changed the locks and they were not allowed to enter the house .
His wife tried to get some money from them for the wake but they were not forthcoming.
This is true .
The old lady had worked them out and cadged Sunday dinners from them on a promise of riches ..knowing that they never was going to get her house and money.
I reckoned she sussed them out when they pressed her to give them the car..
:'(

Actually I would like to alter something. The old lady had not cadged Sunday dinners at all. She had already given them a free Ford Focus. Apologies to her memory.

As a boy my dad used to climb a large conker tree in the village we grew up in, I also used to go up it when I was a lad, for some reason I took my own children back there and they climbed it as well, don't know why but it just felt good watching them do what previous generations had done.

If a child ended up in casualty these days as often as I did when I was a child there would be a police investigation.
There is a reason I am belt and braces when to come to safety, I have been there, done that, had the hundreds of stitches, limbs in plaster, so many X-rays I am surprised I don't glow in the dark.
