MASH UP SHIP FROM DOMINION WAR

Built and put into service in the last year of the Dominion War, the Erebus is the last surviving member of a very unique club. As a Yeager class, named so for its speed of production and after the first man to break the sound barrier, Erebus is a combination of the Intrepid class and a Marquis raider. Yeager class vessels have an unusually large fighter bay, taking up the bulk of the room in the rare section and covering numerous decks, and it has a fighter complement to match.

UP UNTIL NOW ONLY ONE CAPTAIN

Erebus has had only one Commanding Officer in its 12 years of service. Captain Raulston Coutes was promoted into the role of Commanding Officer in the midst of the turning points of the Dominion War. He has served with honour, and distinction, but the war has obviously left vicious scars. The ship he had been on as Executive Officer, the USS Faraday, had been lost in battle with all hands. His entire 'family' had been wiped out. The words of Erebus' then Communication's Officer have lingered always, "The Faraday has been destroyed."

BAD THINGS HAPPENED AND MESSED WITH THE CAPTAIN'S HEAD

After the War, Coutes and his crew went there separate ways for a month of debriefing and recovery. One third of his crew did not return to active duty, but retired due to psychological trauma. Coutes, who should have done the same, stayed on for the good of his new family. There next assignment was to provide protection in Sector 001, but this was partially just to keep Coutes nearby while he continued to recover.

CAPTAIN HAS BEEN ERRATIC AND GOING PSYCHO OVER 4 YEAR MISSION

For the last 4 years, Coutes has led the Erebus crew on an exploratory mission throughout an area known as 'the Expanse'. It's proximity to Cardassian space has led to numerous encounters with his former enemies. Each encounter seemed to pierce further into his psyche creating a rift between sanity and insanity. Coutes is becoming unhinged. Senior crew worry what will happen should they make a move and take command. The only thing they can do right now is hold out till the end of their mission in one short, but mentally straining, week. Soon they will have a new Captain, and a new mission, but the question will remain to be seen is how much damage did Coutes already do...and what enemies lie in wait for an unsuspecting crew?

POOR CREW, POOR NEW CAPTAIN, OLD CAPTAIN CREWED THINGS UP, PEOPLE MAD
