OOC: I already posted this twice and forgot to hit post and lost it. This is what you get, I'm tired of reposting lol \Place: Montara Peak, Montara, California Date: Tues Sept. 4th, 2012 Time: 7:00 AM Outfit: Background music: “Sigh” by Praful Scene 1: Up the mountain (The camera fades from black to a scene of a rather steep mountain side, no trees, and shrubs and low lying grasses. There are no houses anywhere, no civilization and the sun has already come up but is behind the top of the mountain so we are looking at the shadow side of the mountain. As we watch, or actually listen, we hear footsteps crunching in dirt and gravel get closer to the camera, a figure appears from around a tree, wakes a bird which caws and flies off. From off camera a voice over comes on, it’s a male’s voice and almost sounds like Morgan Freeman or that promo wrestling announcer guy who works for WWE. Either way, he starts talking.) VO: It is said that you have to start somewhere. It is said that to be the man, you have to beat the man. (cut to shot of Ric Flair punching Sting in the face from WCW days.) VO: It is said that all good things will come to you if you have patience enough to wait for them. (cut to shot of the figure walking around the bend. The figure stops and looks around and we see from her face that it is Vespertine. She continues walking) VO: In this business, time waits for no man and if you have patience, then are you already too late. In this business, you have to grab the glory or get left behind. (camera cuts shot to Vespertine navigating her way around the mountain slowly going towards the top of it.) VO: If you can make it to the top without falling on the way down, then you are halfway there. It’s a dangerous sport, wrestling. One misstep, one wrong fall, one chairshot to many and it could end a career before it’s even started. (camera cuts to shot of a female wrestler who is in the process of being picked up by a bigger female wrestler and being powerbombed onto a steel barricade. She falls to the ground…lifeless. Camera cuts to shot of her being carted away via stretcher and several members of the audience looking on in shock, the fate of their hero on this stretcher. An announcers voice comes up.) Ring announcer: Ladies and gentlemen, we are sad to announcer that while Trinity survived the powerbomb from Gold last Saturday, her career is over. She fell wrong, broke her neck and is not able to use her legs. Doctors say that if she ever recovers, it will be a long recovery and if she has the use of her legs again, she’ll have to walk in crutches… (…camera cuts to shot of Vespertine standing breathing heavily by a rock. In the background we can see the mirror surface of water that is the Pacific Ocean, her silhouette stands overlooking this majestic view and every time she breathes out, we see the steam from her breathe. She looks down at the way she came, the only evidence of her having come this way is the mark of her footprints in the dirt…. those that can be seen.) VO: But if you can survive all the hardships and the tragedies that come with this sport, you are well on your way to becoming the best this business, the sport has to offer. It’s a hard road. (camera cuts to shot of Vespertine looking up the mountain at where she has to go. She takes a step and slips and trips on the dirt, a loud crack can be heard where she hit her knee. She sits down on the nearest rock and tests out her leg. Her knee is bleeding but it doesn’t seem to phase her. She tests her leg and when she finds she is good, she starts off up the hill again.) VO: It’s a long road. With many hardships. But if you survive and thrive then you are well on your way to becoming the best. (cut to shot of Vespertine leaning against another tree farther up the mountain look at a compass and then looking at the top of the mountain a mere mile more up. She breathes hard as she does so.) VO: And when you get to the top, the view is unbelieveable. You can look down at the way you have come and see the path you have taken and how hard it was to get there. (camera cuts to shot of Vespertine finally reach the summit of the mountain, she bends over to get a few breaths in, then stands straight up and takes off her goggles. As she does so, the sun rises over the peaks in the distance and her form is enveloped in the sun.) VO: But once at the top, there will be others who will try to come up after you and pull you down, just like you came to the top and toppled those who were standing up there before you. (The camera pans back a little more and we can see that someone has carved into the side of the mountain (it is sandstone) “Welcome to the top. You made it!”, Vespertine is huffing rather hard as more and more steam breathes are coming from her mouth. She finally realizes that is there and looks over at it. She sighs and slumps her shoulders at the thought that she wasn’t here first.) VO: Yes, there will be others who made the path for you. There will be pioneers of men and woman who came before you, showed you the path, cleared it of any obstacles that came with it. But now you are the top of their mountain and you have gained your foothold and you now in the prescence of greatness. When those who come after you finally reach the mountain, they will know the same feeling too. But right now, you are at the top and it was a long climb. (Vespertine stands up straight and looks out towards the sun which has finally risen over the peak of the mountain. She raises her hands in the air and lets out a couple of great whoots which echos all around the mountain side and down into the valley.) VO: But what goes up…. Must finally come down. And the way back is just as long and hard as the way up was. Just quicker. (Vespertine hoists her pack, grabs her walking stick and starts trudging back down the mountain, she trips once, steadies herself and then continues down.) VO: Not everyone can make it to the top. Not everyone has the stamina, will power or desire to be the best. It takes a certain special human being to want and get what they finally strive for. Glory, fame, power, prestige, immortality is the treasure at the end of a long road. (camera fades to black) VO: That is what this business, this sport, is all about. You got to want it or be left behind. Scene 2: And back down Time: 10AM Date: Same Place: Beach Chalet hot tubs, San Francisco, Ca Outfit: Song on the overhead radio: “Sanctuary” by Darling Violetta (camera fades from black to a scene of Vespertine just getting into the hottub and settling down to where her shoulders are below the water. She lays her head back and rests her head below water level for a little bit then pulls her head out of the water just enough to have her ears out of the water. The same man’s voice from before comes back up and talks.) VO: After getting to the top, a sports entertainer likes to relax once in a while and let her muscles relax from all the hard work. (Vespertine opens her eyes and looks around. She lets out a little yelp as her eyes finally land on a person across from her.) V: What the- What are you doing in here? (the camera pans backwards to finally rest on the whole hot tub and we see that the voice was indeed Morgan Freeman. He is dressed in a white suit and is sitting in the hot tub right across from her.) MF: Believe me, I’ve been in weirder places when I do voice overs. V: But the hot tub? And why are you still doing a voice over anyway? MF: Well I liked where your promo was going so I thought I would add more to it. V: Uh…. That’s sweet of you but I’m fine Morgan, I can take it from here. (Morgan shrugs and climbs out of the hottub. He gets out and turns around) V: I thank you for helping me with the first bit. I forget, what were you doing before my agent called for you? MF: Doing the same thing I do every day. Being the calm, soothing voice in the head of Alec Baldwin. Then my agent called vis a vis Anne Hathaway’s agent and patched me through to yours. V: Really? What’s Anne like, I have never met her, she seems nice… just you know she seems to have this thing against Hugh Jackman? (she shakes her head) Anyway, does it help him? Ah… does it help Alec in anyway? MF: Really? I never noticed. She’s nice. Not all there all the time but still nice. Oh well. He thinks it does. Calms him down and keeps him from getting into trouble. V: Really? Were you in his head when he had that airline incident last year? MF (hangs his head shamed) Unfortunately, no. V: What happened? MF: I overslept. My intern was supposed to have woken me but I sent him out on a really long errand and he didn’t get back to me in time. V: You have an intern? MF: Yes. See, I can’t be in Alec’s head forever so I’m finding someone to take my place. V: How’s it working out with him? MF: He’s a little rough around the edges but give him another year or so and I think he’ll be perfect. Unless he gets a panic attack from the amount of pressure that Alec puts him under. (thinks for a second) Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened first. (Morgan beeper goes off and he takes it out and looks at it.) MF: Oh this is from Ms. Hathaway. She is thinking of repeating the scene they did at the last Golden Globe awards. Something to do with a movie about Leonardo Dicaprio’s Dream state. (to himself) Funny, I thought we already did that one. (shrugs) Oh well. (to her) I’ll take it over here and won’t bother you. (he moves off.) V: Hey tell her I said hi ok (with phone to ear, he gives her the thumbs up. He goes off camera and she looks back at the camera) Ok…. That was weird… even for me. How do I even follow up on… THAT? What was I doing again? (thinks for a second) Oh yeah, Shaker Jones. UWF. Wrestling. (she shakes her head as if to clear all the confusion, then leans her head back in estasy in the water. She addresses the camera but doesn’t look at it.) V: I love the water. It makes me feel so alive. We were born in an amniotic sack and we spend half our lives in water. You know, taking showers, going swimming, getting caught in the rain. And the ocean is just heavenly this time of morning. I love swimming. (she dunks her head and completely submerges for a second or two before coming back up to where the water is just over the ridge of her nose. She opens her eyes and looks at the camera and gets a kind of smile in them with a twinkle as well. She comes full out and goes back to leaning on the side, laying arms of wet silk over the pool deck.) V: Ah well. I had fun in my time in my trek up the mountain. While the ocean is my future, the path up the mountain is my goal. Don’t you see it, Shaker? I’m going straight to the top of UWF. And where I stumbled and fell on my face in the snow is the match I just had against Jamie. I made it to the top of the mountain. Did you notice that I didn’t fall down again. That’s right, Jones, my sweet, I know it’s going to be hard and a difficult match against me, but in the end I will prevail. (she goes back down again beneath the water and then comes back up. The water, evidently, is so hot, steam rises off her now shiny body.) V: I’ve come here to Montara Peak to reevaluate my journey, my path to the top. It’s 15 minutes south of San Francisco… uh….. Montara Peak, not my journey to the top. You know a good hike up the side of a mountain always reinforces why I’m in wrestling and what I do it for. To get to the top, to get the World Heavyweight Title, to be at the pinnacle of UWF. I’ve been at the top, Shaker, I’m sure you have too. Well not so much in UWF but elsewhere. But here, I’m getting there. Right now though, you seem to be put in my way courtesy of Wormwood. You need to get out of my way otherwise I will push you back down the mountain. You, my sweet, are a stepping stone. I can’t go any farther “down” than I already am. (a slow smile spreads across her face.) V: I’m as low as you can go and it took a superkick to make me humble again. But rest assured that when you and I meet, the results will be different. I WILL get that victory over you and then I WILL start making my way upwards. To the top of this federation. There is no shame in losing, my sweet. There is no honor in it either so this time, this match, our first match together, there can only be one winner and one loser and you, my sweet are going to be that loser. I need this win and I won’t stop until get that win. Don’t take it personally, it’s just good business and I need to start making my mark on this federation. You understand. (she goes below the water again and then comes back up and slicks her hair back and gives the camera a smokey look. Morgan comes back from off screen and as he does so he puts his cell phone away.) MF: Well, I was right, she wanted to do that scene again. That’s fine. (Vespertine gets out of the tub, takes a towel from the bench and wraps it around her waist, sarong style.) V: I thank you for your time Mr. Freeman. MF: Are we done here? V: Yes we are. (pauses) Uh could you do me one little bitty favor. Could you say that line you always say in those Olympic commercials. (He hesistates and she goes into little girl pout mode and gets closer to him, puts a hand on his arm and stares prettily at him.) V: Pretty please. For me. MF: All right. (he clears his throat, then goes into announcer mode) “Visa. It’s everywhere you want to be.” (She bites her lip and giggles a little bit.) V: I just love that line. I almost get the screaming O when I hear it. MF: The what? Or ah, maybe it’s better I don’t know about that, V: Thank you Morgan. Your help here has been invaluable. MF: Anytime my dear. (she starts to go off camera, then stops and looks back at the camera) V: Shaker, just remember what I said and don’t you worry about losing. For in losing you learn and in learning you grow stronger and when you grow stronger, you will finally be able to defeat me. This next match isn’t looking so good and neither is the next one. (she goes off screen and the camera moves from where she was to where Morgan is. He is still dripping wet. He does his famous head shake and then takes a step or two before Alec Baldwin comes into the shot.) AB: She was hot. Who was that? (Morgan looks from Vespertine to Alec and then back again.) MF: You know, I have no idea. AB: Ah… ok. (pause) Hey, by the way, where have you been the last couple of weeks. I almost got in trouble again for playing Wordplay too loud over the phone during a flight. MF: Again? And did you go on Saturday Night Live to reinact the whole thing? AB: No. I stopped myself. I asked myself: what would Morgan do. I came to the conclusion I can play Wordplay in the terminal somewheres. (he pauses) So what happened? MF: I overslept. My intern forgot to wake me. AB: Ah. (pause) You have an intern? I think I need an intern. You know where I can find a good intern. (the sound goes down as they continue talking and they go off screen. The camera pans back over to the hottub and then fades to black) |
