Phoenix From The Flames (Vignette): *The scene begins with the same eerie music from this past week's Underground playing (up until the 1:35 mark)* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oimSPFGZRMg The scene begins in darkness. During the first 15 seconds smoke and fire begins to gradually fade into shot, in slow motion, with the flames rising ever so slowly. Almost poetically, from the 16th second, a fiery phoenix image grows out of the fire and begins to flap its wings. At the 34 second mark it begins to fly, slowly, until it flies directly at the camera lens and as the 38 second mark hits, a great flash of light appears in the background. The phoenix disappears and a vision of one Riley McManus slowly fades in as he wears his ring gear and his executioner's mask. He appears to walk, in slow motion, through the fire. At the 42 second mark, in time with the timpani hit, a fireball erupts to his right, yet he continues to walk towards the camera. Again, at the 46 second mark, a fireball erupts to his left, and he still continues to walk on. He walks straight towards the camera lens as the camera zooms in and the scene gets dark as his torso approaches the lens at the 52 second mark. The scene then cuts to Riley's apparent "underground lair" where many of his recent sightings in solitude have taken place (the abandoned car park, tunnel etc.)... As the pace of the music quickens, the scene cycles through various clips of Riley McManus and his workout regime. Riley is unmasked and wearing nothing but cotton jogging bottoms and trainers.
These shots all cycle with the timing of the music. At the 1:11 mark all the shots of his workout regime cycle through much faster, again, in tempo with the music. At the 1:19 mark he is seen with oil drum fires surrounding him, and an oil drum full of water in front of him. He stands wearing his mask as it suddenly ignites. He bends down and dunks his head into the oil drum as the music changes at the 1:23 mark. He then pulls his head up, in slow motion. He is now without his mask as water droplets spray off his head in all directions while he snaps his neck back and returns to a standing position. As the guitar continues to play, he fixes his gaze on the camera and simply stares, emotionless, breathing calmly, even after all that has just been seen to transpire. Text appears on screen simply reading: "Riley McManus - The Man Machine..." with "HE WILL RISE" fading in below it. At the 1:35 mark the cymbal crescendos to a point where the guitar and the music is drowned out. The music then cuts off, the cymbal fades and the screen cuts to a black background with a single flame visible. More text fades in simply reading: "AGAIN". Just as quick as the image appeared, it disappears with a "smoke effect" and the scene returns to black. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- For The Honour Of The Kingdom (Riley Speaks!): The scene opens up to a grey sky with many a cloud in sight. In the distance, thunder roars on as a storm nears. The camera pans down to see the rolling hills of Northern Ireland and the strands of grass blowing in the breeze. Not a man made structure can be seen for miles, save for an old fallen church, near to the camera. As the camera turns to face behind itself, more of the rubble is revealed, however the church spire with celtic cross symbol atop it, remains somewhat unscathed. It appears as though rising out of the ground in an act of defiance and pride. Standing aside the spire, dressed in old warrior attire, is Riley McManus. McManus stands in a Celtic Warrior Helmet with chain mail draping down the sides, and genuine animal horns, complete with intricate celtic knot design. He also wears a traditional tunic which is covered by celtic body armour, again, with celtic knot and cross detailing. Below this he wears traditional braccae trousers and fur boots with twine tying around his legs, along with an animal hide kilt. In his right hand, he holds a sword, and in his left, he wields a circular shield marked with the celtic cross. *Music fades in:* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59Ri26PIOLs McManus lowers himself to one knee, resting his shield wielding arm across the bended knee. He points with his sword, to the land below him and begins to speak, at length, for the first time since his time began here in UWF: Riley McManus: This, is my homeland... This is my heritage... This is my kingdom... Each day I fight for this kingdom and its honour. I fight, because I am a warrior. I am the only warrior of my kind remaining. I must fight the good fight. And I must succeed. For I am the last one standing. And in battle, I must BE the last one standing. The consequences of failure would be too great, and would bring many more years of hardship upon my people... Years of hardship which my people have suffered, at the loss of the last great king... A king who ruled with integrity, honour, and heart... A king who did not rule with an iron fist nor demonic intention, but with diplomacy, kindness and peace for all... War would only be necessary in the most desperate of moments... And it is in this last desperate moment where he was lost to war... The camera pans around him as he speaks, seemingly focusing on every word spoken. Riley McManus: My people live on without a king... This kingdom yearns for a new regime... Many have tried to claim this land but I have fought them away... And now, one man threatens this kingdom moreso than any ruler whom has tried to stake claim to this land... One man threatens my very existence... With my passing this kingdom would be vulnerable to ruin and destruction and I cannot, nay will not let that happen... The camera zooms in on his face. Riley McManus: He must be stopped... ...I must stop him... With the spirit of our former king beside me, I shall succeed... ...And the way to achieve the thwarting of this demon? GREED. ...This foe seeks power, he seeks rule, he seeks possession of all that is of worth to this kingdom, and this can be his if he eliminates his foes. The camera begins to zoom out - far out, to a panoramic shot of McManus. Riley McManus: Each of us have the same path cut out for us, yet only one of us may succeed in battle. It may be I, it may be he, it may even be any one of those who oppose either of us on our path, but ONE shall succeed and whomever he is, he shall gain rule over the kingdom and I aim to make sure it is not the one who threatens us most... Riley stands up. Riley McManus: For I AM McManus... And I WILL... Fight for the honour of the kingdom... Because it is right and just. *As the music fades out, more music fades in:* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnX7IV8uLgE During the intro of the background music, the scene itself fades, from a standing shot of McManus and the fallen church building, to McManus standing aside Scrabo Tower in Newtownards, which is also, atop a hill, in exactly the same position, it seems, as the fallen church shot. This new shot sees Riley McManus gazing down from the foot of the famed Scrabo Tower, at his hometown below him. The scene then fades to black, until the main beat of the music kicks in. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Preparing For Battle With A Pawn: At 16 seconds of the same music at the end of the previous scene, the scene re-opens and continues the track playing in the background. The guitar riff kicks in at this point as the scene re-opens with an abrupt cut to extended shots of McManus in his workout session from the earlier vignette. The shot only cuts to a different exercise every 8 bars, in time with the music. As the shots of McManus working out in his "underground lair" appear on screen, beginning as if playing normally, but then slowing into slow motion and then speeding back up again as each shot finishes, the strangely familiar, yet obviously technically altered voice from Riley's previous pre-show promos is heard talking over the music. The person behind the voice is still unnamed... Perhaps it is the one referred to as 'HE'? Riley is seen doing pushups from an angle below his left shoulder, aiming at his head. Voiceover: This week, Riley McManus faces his toughest challenge to date. Many may say the battle inside the Stairway to Heaven structure at The Ultimate Showdown was his toughest challenge, others would say it was Thrawler, but this week, Riley McManus steps into the ring with the founder of the company, the chairman, the boss, and an important part of Riley's journey, in Dean James. The shot then cuts to Riley McManus doing chinups using an exposed steel girder from the dilapidated building, using both hands, then the right only, then the left only. Voiceover: Riley McManus is never one to shy away from a fight, and this week he is being thrust into a fight in his quest to honour his kingdom. And a fight it will be. Riley McManus knows full well the capabilities of Dean James, both physically and mentally; he has studied countless hours of UWF footage, and heard countless tales of battles with James recounted, yet Riley can never be fully prepared for a man of such unpredictable nature as Dean James. The shot then shows Riley sprinting up a flight of stairs next to a concrete wall, with no handrail, and seemingly leading into the light. Voiceover: Riley McManus is respectful of Dean James' accolades and accomplishments. Riley McManus is respectful of all that Dean James is, was, and forever will be. Riley McManus knows he steps into the ring this week with a legend of the ring, and that victory in this match would thrust him in front of the eyes of his peers as a legitimate threat and a force to be reckoned with. The scene cuts to McManus doing situps from an angle behind his right shoulder, looking over his head and torso. Voiceover: Riley McManus is never short of reasons to prove his worth and this week he has a new reason. This will indeed be his toughest challenge to date and he shall not underestimate his competition. However... McManus is seen throwing a large tractor tyre around the abandoned car park with great ease. Voiceover: The same may be said about Dean James... This may indeed be his toughest challenge to date, in facing Riley McManus. Dean James has never faced an opponent quite like Riley McManus, and may never face an opponent like him again. This week, Dean James must not underestimate Riley McManus simply because he is yet to gain fame, fortune or main event Championship in his business. Riley then uses a sledgehammer to cause a wall to crack and crumble. Voiceover: Dean James must remember, as must every opponent who may think along these lines... If Riley McManus were here for Championship glory, he wouldn't have eliminated himself from the Brawl For It All match, where he proved himself to be the most dominant force in that match. The shot then cuts to Riley, again on the same flight of stairs from earlier, descending them, from the light, down into the darkness. Voiceover: Riley McManus may one day become a World Champion, and his quest to honour his kingdom may lead him to this, but it will only happen when Riley McManus wants it to happen, and it COULD happen... In the blink of an eye... McManus is seen standing with his legs shoulder width apart, arms by his sides, fists clenched with his eyes closed, facing the camera, as oil drum fires burn around him. Voiceover: As is plain for all to see, Riley McManus is indeed a force to be reckoned with. He must not be taken lightly. Riley McManus is himself, on a path of destruction and dominance, in direct correlation to that of his current rival and greatest foe. As his eyes open, the scene fades into the same shot with McManus standing with his legs shoulder width apart, arms by his sides, fists clenched with his eyes closed, facing the camera, as oil drum fires burn around him, only this time with his mask on. Voiceover: But make no mistake, this match with Dean James is not a distraction, and Riley McManus will not be focused on other matters, as at this stage, Dean James simply finds himself in an unfamiliar situation... Acting as a pawn in the mental chess game between McManus and Creed... If McManus defeats James... It could be checkmate for Lucifer Creed soon enough... The shot cuts to Riley McManus punching the cracked wall from earlier and causing it to fall down before him. Voiceover: Dean James... You may not realise it yet but you are the catalyst that caused the chaos which has been running rampant in UWF for far too long at the hands of the Church of Lucifer, and this week, you shall pay your dues, to the judge, jury and executioner of all whom have wronged the kingdom. This week, you shall receive what you have coming to you, or at the very least, a small portion. The next shot is of McManus kicking a large metal door off its' hinges. Voiceover: Dean James knows not just how important a role he plays in Riley's journey, but he will soon know all. For now though, James needn't worry about the importance of his role here; he simply need be concerned with the challenge which confronts him this week in The Executioner of all whom have wronged the kingdom. And finally, Riley is seen headbutting a concrete pillar, causing it to crack and dust to fly off it. Voiceover: Dean James best prepare for the relentless fury, of the man his victims know as The Beast. Dean James best prepare for the one true warrior of the kingdom. Dean James best prepare for the Man-Machine. Dean James best prepare for... RILEY MCMANUS! ...Playtime...is OVER! As the music comes to a sharp end, with the final words of the strangely familiar voice, the scene cuts to a close up shot of Riley McManus' eyes, staring into the camera lens, and the scene slowly fades to black. |
