We open up to a backstage interview area. Sitting in front of the camera is UWL Backstage Reporter Harold Carpenter. Behind him is a backdrop of the UWL Logo, covering a sizable chunk of the wall behind him. Next to the UWL Logo is the banner for the upcoming event, Redemption. Harold looks into the camera, clears his throat, and begins to talk. Harold Carpenter: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to a special interview featured here on UWLeague.net. I'm Harold Carpenter, and my guest at this time, he is the former UWL Junior Heavyweight Champion, who made a surprise return after the hard fought Ladder Match between Jack Waters and the new champion, Vincent Jericho. Some call him The Hunter, others call him "The New World Warrior". Ladies and gentlemen, Tony Miranda. The camera slowly pans out, sitting across from Harold is of course, Tony Miranda. Wearing a dark blue-gray suit with matching tie. Harold reaches out to shake Tony's hand, who does the same, before sitting back into their chairs. Harold Carpenter: "Mr. Miranda, thank you for coming." Tony Miranda: "Yeah, no problem. Its a pleasure to be back here in UWL." Harold Carpenter: "I'm sure it is. Now, first things first. Lets go back to several months back. GIW's On Hallowed Ground. You vs Jack Waters. The two of you had a very hard fought match, but in the end it was Jack Waters who ultimately defeated you, and buried you alive. On top of that, the final blow to end the match was particularly brutal, with Jack slamming the shovel across the side of your head. So I have to ask...are you still fit to wrestle?" Tony Miranda: "You know, I'll be the first to say that shovel hit was probably one of the worst blows I've ever taken in my career, and trust me...I've taken quite a few like that one before. But if I were to concern myself over the future of my career after every blow like that, I probably would have retired long ago. That said, I have been taking all the steps necessary to make sure that I am at full one hundred percent when I enter the ring. So for now, people won't be seeing me in the ring any time soon." Harold Carpenter: "And when can we expect to see you return to in-ring competition?" Tony Miranda: "There's not really much of a surprise or mystery revolving around it. I'm on the Retribution banner. I think people can put two and two together." Harold Carpenter: "And will you be returning as The Hunter? I notice right now you aren't dressed as a 80's Z-Grade Slasher Villain." Tony lets out a small chuckle at Harold's remark, more amused than offended. Tony Miranda: "Sorry. The Hunter won't be making a return. You can thank Jack and GIW's closing for that. The Hunter was created to promote my little direct-to-DVD movie I starred in some time ago. It didn't turn out well but it was a way for me to have the opportunity to branch out to new kinds of work when my career in professional wrestling one day comes to an end. After Jack buried me alive, the plan was to return at Moment Of Glory, sadly GIW closed well before then. So, I decided if I'm going to return, it should be at Wrestlefest. On top of that, I decided to end my run as The Hunter and go back to my old style. If people have just started watching me wrestle in UWL, or anything after I debuted in GIW back in 2010, they're going to enjoy what I have in store for them in the near future. This return is a very "Back-To-Basics" style for me." Harold Carpenter: "What can we expect to see from this 'Back-To-Basics' style?" Tony shakes his head. Tony Miranda: "A good performer never reveals his best secrets. All I can really say is that if you've enjoyed watching me perform for the last five years with GIW, UWL, and everywhere else...you are going to be swept off of your feet for what I have in store." Harold Carpenter: "Uh-huh. Well, for my final question. We saw you return at Wrestlefest after the Waters/Jericho match as I stated before. So here's the question. Who are you going to go after? On one hand, there's Jack Waters, who buried you alive at On Hallowed Ground and put you out of commission. On the other, there's Vincent Jericho, the current Junior Heavyweight Champion, who won it after you were stripped of the title after being absent past the time allowed for champions to be inactive without defending a championship. Obviously you have some unfinished business with Jack, but I'm fairly certain you would like to go for the title you never lost, so...which is it?" Tony Miranda: "You know, a lot of people have been asking me that. And you're absolutely right. Jack and I do have some unfinished business. I intend to pay him back a thousand fold for putting me out of action for so long. I would like nothing more than to get my hands on him as soon as possible, and really...that would have been the only choice. However, Vincent Jericho had some very choice words to say about me at Wrestlefest. What were they again?" Harold Carpenter: "I believe he said you were a 'Fluke of a champion'." Tony Miranda: "That's it. Now...everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I'm not really the kind of person who takes well to criticism. So I was left with a question to ponder. Do I kick Jack Waters' head in for burying me alive? Or do I go after Vincent Jericho, kick his head in, and take back the Junior Heavyweight Championship? For a while the answer was 'Why not both'? Then I thought about everything I have planned, everything I have in store for UWL...and the answer came to me. The best course of action is to challenge Jack Waters. Harold Carpenter: "In that case, do you have any words for Jack Waters?" Tony smirks. The camera pans in towards him. Tony Miranda: "Yeah. Jack, if you're listening to this. If you want to finish this, which I know for a fact that you do...March 14, 2015. Retribution. I'm tossing out an invitation to the final part of our little dance. But its not going to be any old dance, oh no...I've fought a man like you a long, long time ago, and I fought that man in a match that ended his career for a time. I'm challenging you to that very same match, and this time...where I only temporary ended that man's career...I'll permanently end yours. Retribution. Tony Miranda vs Jack Waters...in a Last Man Standing match. If you wanna finish this, we'll finish it there." Harold Carpenter: "Mr. Miranda. Thank you for your time." Both men reach out and shake hands one final time, before Tony stands up and walks away. The scene slowly fades out. |
