Every board must have rules. We'll try to keep it simple and hope that you will abide. Failure to do so could result in your not being able to post here. 1) Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. It's the most simple rule and will be the default rule when all else fails 2) Never post anything that is illegal or may be construed as such. We will not tolerate threats of violence or terrorism nor shall we contemplate breaking any laws. This includes, but it is not limited to, discussions advocating or promoting violence, terrorism, unlawful rebellion or any threat thereof. You cannot post things about illegal practices like making bombs, illegal weapons, or any other such related illegal device 3) We're big on privacy. Do not post the names of posters here. Respect their privacy and don't publish private information about private individuals 4) Try to keep the expletive deleteds to a minimum. The board is not a bar. It's a forum where your spouse and children may be lurking as well as the next guy's family 5) Like all other boards, trolling is not allowed. What is trolling? Answer: Internet 'trolling' is the anti-social act of causing of interpersonal conflict and shock-value controversy online. Named for the wicked troll creatures of children's tales, trolling is purposely sowing hatred, bigotry, racism, misogyny, or just simple bickering between others. Trolls themselves are emotionally-immature users who thrive in any environment where they are allowed to make public comments, like blog sites, news sites, discussion forums, and game chat. Your comments must have some value for those who are concerned with the future of our country 6) You can post a few lines from copyrighted articles and a link to the article; however, it is illegal to reprint complete copyrighted articles and we will not tolerate it. Post a few relevant quotes from articles and give the link for readers to follow. Research the term fair use doctrine if you are ever in doubt 7) Refrain from calling people names when possible... even if they are a (fill in the blank) 8) Bear in mind we are a nonprofit association of volunteers. This board is not a place for free advertising of your merchandise nor competing views. You're welcome to challenge our views provided that you aren't here challenging every viewpoint on every forum. Make your point on each issue and be respectful of the opinions of others. You can even post opposing viewpoints... just not in EVERY forum on this board at the same time. Be reasonable and don't force us to moderate your writings every day if you want to disagree 9) You have a Right to your own opinion and you have a Right to express it. That does not preclude the other guy's right to challenge your opinions and positions. If you post, expect that some may criticize your opinion, challenge it and disagree with it 10) Try to maintain your cool and not cause us to think up any more rules. If in doubt, see Rule # 1 |
