Providence, Killadonia With a roar, the thrust reversers on the Prime Minister's A321 opened up, slowing the blue and silver aircraft to a halt. The sun was shining over Providence, the capital of Killadonia, and a nice ocean breeze wafted into the run way. The ramp was lowered ,as the assembled press readied their cameras. The doors, opened, and Kathy Graham, Prime Minister of Franconia, stepped from the gangway. Dressed in a black pencil skirt, white blouse, and black jacket, the Prime Minister gracefully made her way down the steps, a large group of aides behind her. The press snapped their photos, as Graham and her staff made there way toward the main building of the airport. ![]() |

The Prime Minister smiled as she extended her hand to the nervous young girl. "Good morning Maria, the honour is mine. Its not everyday that i meet one of the brightest young minds in the region. Congratulations on your award, it is an exciting achievement. As a second reward for your prodigious work, i would like to offer you a $100,000 scholarship to Royal Roads University, the most prestigious post secondary education centre in Franconia." |

Upon hearing the Prime Minister's offer, Maria lost hold of her carefully crafted composure and tears began to stream down her face. After a few seconds, she looked back up, smiling widely as she dried her eyes. "I can't thank you enough! I visited Royal Roads last spring with my parents and I loved it!" She paused to take a deep breath, suddenly remembering to keep composed. "I would be delighted to accept the offer, Madam Prime Minister. I just need to call my parents and tell them the good news." After a brief conversation, the photographers came and took several pictures of Maria shaking hands with Kathy. Once the photographers had completed their task, Maria shook the Prime Minister's hand once again and thanked her for everything. As she left, President Mellor walked over, a look of surprise visible on his face. "My chief of staff just told me the news. I'm sorry to hear that this will be the last time we'll work together like this. I don't suppose there's anything you'd like to see or do before you leave?" (OOC: Did you have anything in mind as to what happens next? I was planning on Graham and Mellor having an IC conversation about the Freedom Pact, but if you had an idea, I'm definitely open to it) |

OOC: The Freedom Pact is just what i had in mind. The Prime Minister smiled bitter sweetly. "I have been the Prime Minister of Franconia for nearly 14 years now. It is time for me to go, and let my colleagues run the show. Ill remain in Parliament, and represent my constituents, but my time in the spot light is over." Graham called over and aide who handed her several pieces of paper. "The Freedom Pact will probably be the last piece of legislation i can pass. What are your feelings on that?" |

President Mellor's face lit up at the mention of the Freedom Pact. "I think it's a great idea. Connie Hale and I agree that any plan that strengthens the ties with Franconia is a good move, and we've really been looking forward to expanding our diplomatic ties with the Shroomic Republic and Unitedd Bourque. Between you and I, Congress is split on the military alliance idea, but they love the opportunities the economic alliance might bring. All in all, I think we're all very curious to see how this alliance plays out. How about you? Is your Parliament totally on board, or are some of the parties giving you a hard time?" |

" My party supports in entirely," the Prime Minister smiled, "However the New Democrats are far more hesitant, they see it as a step towards the loss of economic independence. The Conservatives are too disorganized to have actually formulated a plan, after Paul Beaudouin resigned the party has really been split into segments, moderates vs extremists and the like. all in all, it is receiving acclaim among the populace." |

"I'm glad to hear that it's been well received. I, for one, really look forward to seeing how it all get implemented." There was a pause in the conversation as Mellor sighed and took a more relaxed tone. "If you don't mind my asking, what does the future hold for you? Are you going to stay in government?" |

Graham smiled a bit, looking up at the far wall in thought. "I'm not sure. For the past 14 years I have lead my nation, my party. Parliament has been my home for 25 years, and it will be strange not to lead it, let alone not be an MP. But I think I will stay on, James has offered me the position of Justice Minister, to replace Peter Hill, now Foreign Minister. I think that I will stay there for a while, still be a presence in Government. But I ended on a high note, few politicians can say the same." |
