Day 26 "Good evening everyone, I'm Brenden Carter, Host of the FBC's Power and Politics. Tonight, and for the next 26 Days of Campaigning, we will bring you nothing but the best, and the boldest in coverage. This election, this parliament, is set to be a whopper. Now, let's go over recent events." "As the first step in implementing their austerity package, the Conservative Government of Michael Warren presented this years Budget to Parliament. However, lacking a majority in the House, the Government was defeated, with both Labour and the Socialist Action Party voting down the bill. With budgets generally considered a confidence issue, the 2 year old Warren Government fell, just 9 months short of the term length of the previous Tory administration." "Current polls show an intensely tight race, with Labour, and their leader, Margaret Legault holding a slight effective of just 4 points, while the Tories take up the rear. The newly formed Liberal National Party is in third place, and seems to be sapping some strength from the Conservatives. Both the Social Action Party and the Option Nationale are low in the polls, and the electoral landscape is still murky. Here is a full overview of the current polls." Labour- 36% Conservatives- 32% Liberal National- 19% Social Action- 8% Option Nationale- 5% "And now, on the first day of The Campaign, we will continue our coverage, of the Leaders and their Party, the voters, and the choice you must make." "And so on the very first Day of the Campaign, the Leaders were up and running. Margaret Legault was the first to appear, holding a press conference and media scrum in Montroyal East, her home riding. Labour support is strong in Verana, and the Leader of the Opposition hopes to take seats here, and across the country. After these rather low key events, Legault did a walk about, touring Courtenay Park, and walking down the bustling Moreau Street. Shaking hands and smiling all the time, Legault finished the day at the on the steps of the Provincial Veranian Legislature, giving a short speech to a large crowd of Labour supporters." "The Prime Minister was also busy today, in the Capital. Standing outside the Parliament buildings, he gave a forecast of his message, giving a rousing speech to a large crowd. Urging voters to rake the path of stability, and elect the Tories to a majority, Warren promised to kill the deficit in 4 years, incidentally, one Parliamentary term. After his speech on Parliament hill, Warren matter with business leaders at a luncheon, and later held a brief media scrum." "Bill Blake, leader of the Liberal National Party, does not yet have a seat in the Legislature. However, running as a candidate in Cumberland-Prescott, Blake, a charismatic speaker, attended a BBQ with supporters, mingling with the crowds for much if the day. After lunch, he traveled to the Prescott City Hall, and official opened the LibNat campaign. Polls show the Liberal Nationals a distant third, but they could hold the balance of power should the election results in a minority." "The SAA and Option Nationale leaders both spent the day touring their ridings, doing the usual meet and greets. Madame Bouchard made a slight gaffe, critical are this early stage, saying that any Veranian against sovereignty must be ashamed of their heritage. Polls for these two parties currently show terrible results for the If the country went to the polls now. " "And thatsbit for the first day of this Campaign, please join usntomorrow as we begin our Leadership profiles." |

Day 25 "It's the second day on the Campaign trail, and the Leaders are all up and at em. Prime Minister Warren spent the day in Richmond, his home city. He attended a town hall meeting in the morning, taking questions from his own constituents, and then moved on to a news scrum at lunch time. After a short break, he posed with Premier Bob Corder, Leader of the North Franconian Provincial Conservative Party. Corder, currently in power in that province, endorsed the Prime Minister." "Margaret Legault was less busy today, taking in just a meet and greet and several popular cultural venues across Montroyal, including the Imperial Opera Centre. Labour is still polling well in the Province, and even better in Montroyal. The vote rich city has the Labour Party at 39% support. With the collapse of the separatist vote, Labour seems to be the primary beneficiary." "Bill Blake traveled to the Capital today, and met with several important provincial politicians. He joined in in a pro-Gay rights march, before holding a rally in High Park. The Liberal National Party is new to the political scene, and is formed on a core group of centrists, the old guard Of the old Liberals." "SAA leader Brent Smallwood was in Souris this morning, the Conservatives urban heartland. He attended a little league baseball game, but was booed from the stands. He held a small, invite only BBQ, and then joined ultra Conservative radio host Jim McDowell for an interview, mostly defending his far left views." "Helen Bouchard was in Verana today, with Premier Michel Massé, leader of the Provincial separatist party, the Partí Nationale. Premier Massé spoke highly of his federal counterparts, And said that in order to secure a free Verana, they must, they must, elect as many ON MPs as possible. Despite this, ON support remains low in the province." |

Day 24 "And welcome back, just two days into the Election, and we already have a policy announcement. First off the gun, is the Government. Michael Warren was in Rosemount today, where he gave a speech to a large crowd in the Fort Stanley Botanical Gardens. As with most of their campaigns, the Conservatives targeted the economy as their chief point of message. In the words of the Prime Minister, another Tory government would slay the deficit, and balance the budget, in just 4 years."
"Now the Labour Party responded today, saying that their comprehensive economic policy package will come out later this week, while the Liberal National Party has said that they will counter the Prime Minister's proposal sith a more efficient plan. Bill Blake was also in Rosemount today, and visited several schools." "SAA leader Brent Smallwood scoffed today, as he toured Souris poor district, saying that "One must not look at the finances od the nation as if it were a house hold. One cannot simply take more money in than they receive and hope a national economy can prosper. It's takes more." Joining the SAA on this front is the Option Nationale, whose provincial counterpart is currently running a deficit bigger than the rest of the Provinces combined." "Ladies and Gentlemen, we know what these campaigns are all truly about. Leadership, policy, and style. A good leader can make or break a campaign. After all, we want to elect a good Prime Minister. Now, we have assembled profiles of every Leader of the major federal parties, and every day, we will talk about one, to inform you of the great choice that must be made. The Profiles are to be presented in alphabetical order to avoid favoritism. So here we go!" Name: Bill Blake, Liberal National Party Age: 47 ![]() Current position: Running in Eastminster South Number of years experience: 5 years as Party Leader, 0 years as MP Previous Experience: Lawyer and Professor at Holloway College of Law Education: St.Michaels Academy (High School) Undergraduate in majoring in History, minoring in Economics from Royal Roads University Party platform: center-right on economics, centre-Left on Civil rights and social issues, centrist on military spending. "And so ladies and Gentlemen, we have our first Leadership Profile. Here to discuss the chances of the Liberal National Party, is Liza Beaulieu. Good to see you Liza. So, what are the chances that Mr. Blake answer the Liberals form government?" "Well Brenden, I would be very surprised if they beat out the Conservatives and the Labour Party, so surprised I'm not sure if I would want to follow politics anymore! The Liberal National Party is at third in the polls, still far ahead of the SAA, but far behind the two front runners, I think the only way for Blake to gain more than third party status would be to either A) Make a policy Announcement so innovative or popular it sweeps the nation, something that is very hard to do, or B) Have an outstanding debate performance. The second Optionnis more likely, Mr. Blake is a very good speaker, but I think for now, it would be more likely that they take over the role the NDP once played. To perpetual third party." "Thank you, Liza, join us tomorrow for our next Leadership Profile." |

Day 23
"Big words from Liberal Leader Bill Blake today, speaking at a rally in Hillingdon. Just 3 days into the Campaign, the debates are already heating up, especially on the economy. Mr. Blake and his party have released their ideas for the economic future, combining Grahamist centrism with a fiscal austerity program that, they say, would bring the federal books into balance in a mere three years. This amazing economic feat will, of course, only be possible under a Liberal Majority, something that the party, with no MPs currently in office, could only dream of." "Labour Leader Margaret Legault scoffed at the Liberal plans, sayign that they were both "Unrealistic, and unfeasible." The Labour party has of yet not released an economic plan, as is normal in a political campaign, they have said it is too early to fully explain what policies they intend to put forward. The Prime Minister is also dismissed the Liberal claims." "SAA leader, Brent Smallwood however, took a different path, criticising the Liberal plan for having reduced spending far too much. The SAA have promised to increase spending on infrastructure and education. This deficit friendly approach will be highly controversial no doubt, with the other parties most likely ready to pounce on the policy." |

"And now we go into our second Leader, Leader of the Official Opposition, Margaret Legault, Labour MP for Montroyal East, and the current leader in the Polls." Name: Margaret Legault Age: 46 ![]() Current position: MP for Montroyal East Number of years experience: 20 months as Party Leader, 9 years as MP Previous Experience: Formerly Franconian Ambassador to Ruiru, and Killadonia, Professor of Diplomatic Theory at the Franconian Diplomatic Academy. Education: Moreau Secondary (High School) Masters degree in Diplomatic Geopolitics from Cartier University. Party platform: center- Left on Economics, Centre-Left on Civil Rights, centrist on military spending "Here to discuss the Leader of the Opposition is my good friend Nicholas Sladieski and Diane Phillips. Good to see both of you. Now Nick, what's Labour and by extension, Mrs. Legault, thinking at this point in time?" "Well Brenden, I think they are looking at things quite positively, the polls are good, and while it's a bit early to say who will get what votes, Labour is in the lead. The Tories are close on their heels, but Labour has one thing that the Conservatives lack. A popular leader. The Prime Minister is surely seen as a good leader. He is experienced and presentable, but he lacks a certain flair, a certain debonair charm that comes so easily to Ms. Legault. Michael Warren was elected because he was serious, because he was dry, because he was a steady hand oj the tiller, nor because he had amazing ideas. I think this will really show, especially in the debate." "Diane, your take on this?" "Well, to be honest, the Labour Party is only in the lead because of a general dissatisfaction with the Conservatives. They have been in power for two years, a minority granted, and very little seems to get done. However, now that real policy is the issue, where experience trumps charm any day, I think the Tories will win it. I'm actually glad you brought up the Debate Nick, because I'm not sure how well Ms. Legault will handle herself. It will be a clear contrast. The steady, level headed temperance of an experienced Tory government, or a new, unknown Party, with little experience and little room be proud of. Labour is high in the polls, 36% if I'm not mistaken, but as is the usual circumstances , a party usually needs 40% or above to form a Majority. And The Tories are not far behind. All I'm saying, is even if Labour wins the election, they might lose the Government." Edited by Great Franconia and Verana, Sep 2 2014, 05:25 AM.

Day 22 "And as the Campaign grind onwards, the Party leaders have been busy! Margaret Legault, the front runner, attended a rally at Banting Square today, held by the Franconian Teachers Federation. Education is one of the Labour Parties main priorities, and with the Conservatives austerity measures, the Union has shifted its weight behind Legault." "In contrast, Michael Warren was in Provencher, where he unveiled his final, comprehensive economic plan. The details are more Conservative than even most analysts expected, with spending cuts and union busting measures that would make Margaret Thatcher blush. Warren is, in general, on the Right Wing of the Conservative Party, and this is reflected in his policies. In contrast, the more moderate MP Brian Baldwin, Conservative Deputy Leader, has been the lighter side of the campaign." "Liberal Leader Bill Blake was in Souris today, echoing calls for a National Energy Strategy, and free trade. The crowd was highly receptive of these ideas, and polling indicates that Blake could hope to take a seat or two in downtown Souris. Blake also had to defend his bold promise to kill the deficit within 3 years." "Brent Smallwood was on Galeanno Island today, taking part in an Environmental protest, and marijuana legalization march. Smallwood has been a proponent of legalization of Marijuana for some time, while the SAA itself is also looking into prostitution regulations." "Current polls show Labour leading, while the Tories seem to be losing momentum. Blake has moved up, while support of the ON and SAA remains low." Labour- 36% Conservatives- 29% Liberal National- 21% SAA-4% ON- 2% Undecided- 8% Edited by Great Franconia and Verana, Sep 5 2014, 05:12 AM.

Breaking News Bulletin "Scenes of shock, anger, and most undoubtedly, disappointment. All these emotions ran through the minds of every Franconian, as the race to become Prime Minister throws us a curveball." "Earlier today, Royal Franconian Police officers raided Conservative Party HQ, seizing several documents, and taking three people off in handcuffs. These people? The Prime Minister's press Secretary Donald Henderson, Special Advisor Connor Phelps, and, in a turnoff events nonone could have anticipated, Michael Warren, Prime Minister." "That's right, Prime Minister Michael Warren has made history today, as the only Franconian Head of Government to be arrested and charged while in office. The charge? Corruption and breach of trust, both from 10 years ago when Warren was a provincial MLA in Northern Franconia. High Comissioner Andrea Tomlinsson, head of the RFP, said that the police, with the approval of Supreme Justice Gordon Sheer and Chancellor Clarkson, have dismissed Warren from office, and removed him to Princeton Penitentiary, awaiting trial." "The Conservatives Are still reeling, not yet prepared for anything so surprising. The National Conservative Executive hastily appointed Brian Baldwin as the new Party Leader, and in effect, Prime Minister, until the end of the election. Baldwin is a charismatic, intelligent Tory moderate, but will have an immense challenge of holding together a campaign that jsut had its heart and soul ripped out." "Both the Labour Party and Liberal National Party have pounced on this event, explaining that this exposes corruption in the very heart of the Conservative Party. Bill Blake wenr so far as to say that the Tories brew mistrust and duplicity in government. No news on how this will effect the polls, but with the election just 22 days away, and already 1 leader down, it's anyone's guess." . |

Day 20 "With the sudden, and certainly dramatic fall of Michael Warren, The leadership of the Conservative Party has fallen to Brian Baldwin, MP for Hastings, and former Health Secretary. Baldwin is seen as a more pragmatic, moderate politician than Mr. Warren, and his relatively youth in comparison to his predecessor may make the difference. But with a former Leader now under scrutiny for corruption, how can the Tories bounce back from this unmitigated disaster? Here is Mr. Baldwins Leadership Profile. Name: Brian David Baldwin Age: 44 ![]() Current position: MP for Hastings Number of years experience: Mere hours as Party Leader, 5 years as MP, former 3 term MLA in North Franconia Previous Experience: Formerly Professor of Law at Proctor University, and Franconian Special Envoy/ Ambassadorial advisor to Terrelis Education: St.Bernard Secondary, Undergraduate in History and Political sciece from Proctor University, Law degree from Proctor University. Party platform: Centre-Right on Economics, Centre-Right on Civil Rights, Centrist on military spending. "Here to talk about the newest Candidate in the race to Stonestreet, is Liza Beaulieu and Diane Phillips. Good tonsee you ladies, now how could Mr. Baldwin ever pull his party back from this terrible disaster? Liza?" "Well, if politics is war by other means, then Mr. Warren just got captured by the enemy, leaving his troops in the wilderness. The Conservatives Are now in full damage control, they have to somehow show that Mr. Baldwin can be up to the task of running the country. They never truly convinced the voters about Mr. Warren, and now, just 22 days till E-Day, they have to pull it off. If Labour can exploit this, if Mrs. Legault can play her cards right, I have no doubt that it will be her party in power, with a landslide." "Now, I'm not so sure. Mr. Warren is gone, no question. But is that bad thing? In my opinion Bren, Mr. Baldwin is a far more electable leader than Warren ever was. He is younger, he is more moderate, and he is more in touch. Not to mention, far more charismatic. The one big chance for Baldwin room turn this around will be the Leaders Debate. If he can prove that his party will get the job done faster, then he might just be able to come back." "Interesting talk there ladies, we will have to wait and see how Baldwin does when the country goes to the polls. Now, we have a new poll, hot off the press from the Imperial Institute." Labour- 39% (+3) Conservatives- 25% (-4) Liberal National- 22% (+1) SAA- 5% (+1) ON- 2% (=) Undecided- 7% (- 1) "As you can see, the fallout from Mr.Warrens fall is pretty clear. The frontrunning Labour Party gained three points, sitting just under 40% support. Most elections, a 40% share of the vote is enough to get a majority government. Both the Liberal National Parties and the SAA pikced up one point, as the Conservative numbers dropped t just 25% of the national electorate. It remains to be seen if the Conservative Party and their new leader Brian Baldwin, can pull victory from what has become an election from hell for the Tories."
