In order to protect the fragile and life bearing system that is Earth's environment, the Imperial Russian Republics proposes the following. Clause 1 a. - All signing nations of this charter shall uphold the document as a binding contract. Clause 2 a. -In recognition of the path that the burning of fossil fuels had put humanity on prior to the Great Mistake, the NUN will attempt to reduce the use of these fuels in all nations. b. -The NUN shall encourage the use of alternative energies, including but not limited to nuclear, solar, and wind power. Clause 3 a. -The NUN will set a goal of an international release of no more than 18 billion tons of CO2 annually. Clause 4 a. -In recognition of the effects of rapid urbanization that caused mass habitat loss prior to the Great Mistake, the NUN will encourage the protection of ecosystems and their inhabitants. b. -In particular, the Amazon rain forest and the rain forests of Africa shall be placed under international protection. Lumber produced from these regions shall be internationally tariffed at three times their current price. c. -The NUN shall attempt to prevent further extinction globally by creating a protected species list. Species on this list will be internationally protected and the hunting of them shall be forbidden. IF YOU VOTE AGAINST THIS RESOLUTION PLEASE ALSO STATE WHY |
